For what it is, it works great
Contrary to some of the other reviews, you donโt need any kind of preamp for this to work. Just hook it up to any line out on the amplifier and it works just great. Keep in mind. This is not for professional use however, the display is what it is gives a little color and motion to your entire system.

Not a true spectrum analyzer BUT it does "look cool".
If your are looking for something that somewhat (and inaccurately) blinks to the music, this is it. If you have any experience with audio production you'll find this is nothing more than something to fill up a rack unit. It is in no way accurate but it does look cool.

Transforms stereo!
This visualizer works great. Only took a few minutes to figure out all the settings. You can control the mode, color, speed, brightness, and more. The quality is great. Heavy duty. The price is nearly 1/2 of the competitors. Amazing value.

A Speaker Line Out connected to the Line Input is needed for proper operation!
First off, be advised; This product is more of a TOY than a Tool ! Second; Don't let the appearance of rack ears on the device fool you into believing they are standard rack mount dimensions, they are not! and this device won't fit properly into a standard 19" rack mount. Standard 19-inch rack mount dimensions feature a mounting width of 19 inches, with rack units (1U) of 1.75 inches in height, This device exceeds those dimensions. Thirdly, nowhere in the directions or previous reviews is there mention that the "Line In" input on the back requires an amplified (as in headphone output of a device) and will not work if one were to tap an "Aux Out" on a device, UNLESS you use a mini amp/signal booster to raise the output level to a sufficient level to drive the eye-candy led's. As another reviewer pointed out, and I'll substantiate, the led's are nice in providing a visual color organ, roughly based on the signal being fed, but they are not in any true way calibrated to the audio output for any measurable standard in audio, but - in fairness; for the price, & what it provides, it's not a bad unit, the instruction manual could be better written (and I now it's just me & my older age, but dang! this micro print size back of a match book instruction manual that came in the packaging is a joke! A printed sheet of paper that easily could have been utilized, would have been more desirable, not only by utilizing larger print to make for an easier read, but also pointing out that a line-OUT signal being fed into the rca in's or mini 1/8th" headphone jack WILL REQUIRE a sufficient line/speaker output to properly drive the "Line input" selection, no matter how much you may try to adjust the level trim pot on the back of the unit. As for the the "mic" input setting, that works (kinda/sorta) in my never to be humble opinion, placing that mic on the front of the unit vs. where ever they did, doesn't do justice to receiving the audio picked up by the mic (again, even if you try to cramp up the level trim pot on the back of the unit, unless your speaker is right next to this device and you've got the volume cranked up fair loud, the response on the display will (under such conditions) respond, but for a comfortable listening level, with properly placed speakers, at a reasonable listening level (at least to this set of ears) you may get four of five led segments to light up, but that's about it. So, perhaps my expectations were too high for this "Toy" which let's make no mistake, this is - But for the price, once (by trial & error, NO-THANKS to the poorly written instruction manual) I figured out how it DOES work vs. how it was expected to work, I was sufficiently satisfied with the item not only to purchase a second one as a gift for a friend, but a third unit for another location in my house, just because I enjoy the visual eye candy when listening to audio.

Great for and live
when setting up individual VUโs for studio work.Zero hum and very low amperage pull. Very satisfied.. Extremely inexpensive like getting two for one. Hooked twelve of them up to 24 channel hi imp outputs. Perfect response..great replacement for boards with Dickey VUโ too

Nice sound activated toy... Not for serious studio
After much testing.... This is for small setups with few pieces of other equipment being used as it has a acceptance level of RF frequencies that cause considerable interference. The microphone feature works fine. I tried applying all kinds of ways to accommodate the signal diversion but no matter what, even putting ferrite rings to noise reduction software still saw a level of electrostatic audibilities
