Not cheap but the best scope covers on the market!
The Leupold Alumina Flip covers are not cheap, but they are THE BEST scope covers out there, bar none! They are very light, SOLID (metal, not plastic), and will flip up and lay flat along the side of the scope. They are adjustable so you can flip them straight up or to lay along the side of the scope body. and can be locked in that position. They are not see through, but solid metal and protection for your scope. They thread into the end of your scope. PLEASE NOTE: These will not work on some of the older scopes! They will not thread into the older scopes. If you have a scope and wonder if you can use them just call Leupold and speak to customer services and they will let you know if they can be used or not. These are built for specific size scopes, 36, 40, 44mm objectives etc. They also have different sizes for the Ocular (eye piece) end. When looking in a catalog it can be a bit confusion at times. Call Leupold custom services, give them your scope model and they will tell you and exact models you need. Excellent product, put them on all my Leupold scopes (only work on Leupold scopes), Highly recommend. W

4.5 out 5 stars. Alumina caps
This cap fits my VX-6 3x18/44 front eyepiece. The scope has a fine focus adjustment that moves when trying to secure the cap to it. This makes it difficult in my opinion to actually get it watertight. The cap is actually two pieces. The outer portion spins when the flip cap is open on the inner ring to allow for a 12 o'clock fit. It will not spin easily when the cap is closed, but the entire assembly will spin off if not secured to the focus ring in the closed position. Waterproofness was not 100% but did work most of the time. The caps did allow moisture inside the housing with heavy rains. It wasn't a lot of water but enough that if you needed to get off a quick shot, you might have some difficulty seeing your target. When it was wet out with no rain but high humidity, I had to keep the caps open due to extreme condensation build up on the glass. I use anti fog on the lense and it only works with air flow. The seal of the cap closed is 5-stars. Almost to snug sometimes. Especially when it started to freeze. Numb fingers or glove hands might miss the latch on the front cap or the extension on the 44mm cap. With the earth magnets you can close the cap but not snap it closed. This helps when your on your toes with heads up hunting and you need to flip real fast. The caps also make a suction pop sound when they are snaped shut. They weigh almost nothing. If you compare to the plastic ones, I would say comparable to maybe a few grams. For a comparison to durability to plastic, by the time you break 3 sets of plastic caps, you will have wished you purchased the alumina ones. Very durable!! I hunt Washington, primarily around the coast where it's wet! Eastern Oregon where it's dry. Idaho and Montana where the weather is hit or miss. This is my second set of alumina caps. I also have them on my VX-3 which has seen a lot of abuse. I use my guns the way they were intended. They are not babied so these scopes and caps are not pretty after they get banged on rocks, trees, water soaked, etc.. Spend the extra money for them. You will be happy in the long run! Thanks, I hope this helps! Happy hunting! Mike

The best
As everyone says, these scope covers are great. Pricey, but probably worth the price.

Work perfect
I've spent almost as much on a pair of these caps than I've spent on a scope before, but they're great. Easy install. They rotate freely as well; just how they're deigned so you can install them in scope. Think I may have to add a drop on threadlocker to objective cap; seems to loosen a bit after 20 rounds or so on a 260 rem.
