Pleasantly surprised
I was skeptical of buying a keyboard that needed to be charged after my Microsoft keyboard stopped working but I didn't want to spend the money again on the original typecover. I'm pleasantly surprised. This snaps right in and closes the same, putting the tablet to sleep. I purchased this model due to it being the longest lasting charge. Charging isn't a problem at all. I've had it for almost a month and I've only charged it a couple of times so far when I thought about it. It hasn't run out on me yet. I don't need all the different colors of backlighting but I need the backlighting. The only thing I miss is the Alcantara material.

Easy pairing, works great.
Works great on my surface pro 8. Easy pairing, no problems.

MIssing lots of functions
Does not provide charging for pen in tray. Touch pad scrolling is intermittent, have to charge the keyboard independently of the computer. All in all, would not recommend

NOT BAD FOR PRICE BUT NOT THE OEM EXPERIENCE.
The OEM keyboard is $400 which is insane. For the price, this 3rd party keyboard is not bad but is not the full experience you get with the OEM keyboard. Note all these 3rd party keyboards use bluetooth as the only means of communication between the keyboard and the computer. There is no communication via the connector which in this case, is just a magnet. This is because Microsoft locks the connector API so only their keyboard can use it for the full experience functions like charging, auto sleep when closing the keyboard, etc. You may be able to do without these functions and save a lot of money, but over time, it will become a pain. For charging this 3rd party keyboard, you will need to plug it in via USB. And yes, it will die just when you need it most and no, there won't be a usb cable around. You will also need to shut off/sleep the computer when closing the keyboard - the act of closing it won't do this automatically. Also, the connectivity is flakey. Sometimes you will have to reconnect the bluetooth and you won't remember the sequence for how to do this. The main keyboard magnet is strong. The secondary one that folds the keyboard up to the screen is not. Finally, I wish these manufacturers would stop with the multi-color lighting nonsense. I just need one color for the lighted keyboard. So bottom line is if you have the money, go for the OEM keyboard. If you don't, this will work with some pains.

Too many flaws
It works but definitely not the same as the original keyboard. Whilst doing basic tasks the trackpad sticks and slows down after a while. Also I havenโt found the white backlight, only colors. Otherwise itโs a good replay for the original keyboard, which suddenly stopped working earlier this year. Update to my original review: Yeah, this is a pretty awful keyboard. The trackpad randomly goes haywire every now and then. There is no indicator of how much charge is left, and it needs to be charged often enough to be annoying. Plus no white backlight turns out to be a bigger pain than anticipated. It's bad enough that I'm actively looking for a better keyboard replacement. I'd recommend not buying Surface Pros at all due to all these keyboard issues.

Love this
This keyboard works better than others I have purchased. I works like a larger keyboard. It has the ability to set at an angle which is a better ergonomic fit. It also allows you to use it flat if you like. The color matches my computer the and it's lightweight but strong. I have dropped my entire laptop keyboard attached and it came away completely unscathed.

Yes, very nice
Look, this isn't a comprehensive review or anything. I had the original Surface 8 keyboard or whatever and it stopped working. I got this one for like $21 and it's great. THe advantage is that I can move it away from the screen. The disadvantages are that I have to turn on Bluetooth on my Surface and I have a few seconds of lag after a break.. It's a great replacement at this price point, even for $30 USD.
