Backup info:We are temporarily living in our camper parked on our property while renovating the house. I parked the camper about 150 or so feet away from the septic tank clean out. One of the drudgeries of living in a camper is dumping the holding tanks when they’re full. So that I wouldn’t have to use the poop-cart and drag it over, I bought a macerator pump which not only pumps the tank contents over but also grinds any solids into bits that will fit through a garden hose. Macerator pumps only come in a 12V dc voltage. I had been dragging a battery to the wetbay to power the pump. But this changed all that. Now for the review: This is exactly what I wanted and I can’t believe I didn’t think of it sooner. The pump draws about 20amps and this handles that well. Other reviews say that the fan is loud but I haven’t noticed that at all. Yes, the fan does run at all times when the power is turned on but noise isn’t an issue. If you need 12v power in a place that is easier to run an extension cord, or plug into 120vac, this is what you want.

For the last few years my hobby is taking old vehicles getting them mechanically sound and road ready. Which I give away to a local graduating highschool student that has good grades and a possibility bright future. But, just needs a little hand to get started in life. To keep cost down most of the vehicle's that I purchase are in non running condition. And, as I am a senior citizen and a one man shop getting the vehicles into my one car garage was challenging. One day as I was watching No Nonsense Know How on the YouTube. I saw that he bolted a bumper receiver mount onto his shop floor. So, a winch could be used to bring in non running vehicles into the garage. I quickly adopted this idea. Being that space is a premium in my shop. I didn't want a battery underfoot to run the winch once every year. So, I purchased this step down transformer. I have only used it once. And I probably won't use it for another year. But, so far my experience has been the the little transformer is durable and functional for my application. It provides the uninterrupted power that the winch needs. To pull the rolling weight of the vehicle's that I work on. The price was very reasonable and was very easy to setup for the winch application. It is compact. Which makes it easy to store alongside with the winch on a shelf. IMHO the whole winch setup makes my little one man hobby garage a little easier on my aging body.

I attached two oscilloscope pics of the 12 volt output. The longer shot has the power supply unloaded. The second almost indistinguishable shot was when I attached it to a tranciever. The fan came on, but I didn't see any deflection on the scope. I ran the scope in DC mode so that it would show DC voltages. You can see about 11.8 volts according to the scope. The scope shows peaks but I'm using an unshielded alligator clip probe, I can cause remarkable changes in the readings by waving my hand over the scope. It is possible I can see a tiny bit of switching artifact if I squint. This is a cheap scope but it would show a 1/2 volt ripple as sine waves or such. I think this is a good 12 volt power supply, reasonably well filtered. It would be fine for a ham transceiver that wants a nice steady close to 12 volts. I double checked with the internal reference oscillator and it seemed to show the same amount of jitter. What I thought might be switching artifact is cheap scope artifact. I hope that this helps people who are considering using this power supply.

Using this to test all electrical circuits in my 66 Tbird Convertible restoration. Plugging this into the battery leads and disconnecting the battery did the trick. Let's me save the battery from draining while car is not yet running. Awesome product. This first box did not come with the disconnect cords but the seller quickly sent me out a new replacement.

I bought this converter to power my 12v chemical pump and it works flawlessly. No variances in power. No connection issues with the clamps, either. The power cord is long enough to reach any receptacle that's nearby. With all the accessories included, it's a very good value. Definitely worth the price. I highly recommend.

Oh I really like this , so much I just ordered a 2nd one. It's great on ease of uses , there is hardly any noise annoyance , the power output is great , and you don't feel any heat .
