Why did you pick this product vs others?: Very light and compact. Simple to use. Can be programmed using CHIRP.

These are the lightest Baofeng radios I ever owned and they worked well. It's real model is GT-22. My first impression out of the box was skeptical as it just wasn't like a Baofeng radio. These were priced at less than $8.00 each. They are readily programmed by chirp with the BF-888 setting, but it only sees 16 channels; the radio goes up to 20 channels. There is a Baofeng FRS radio setting that reads this radio, but chirps displays more than20 channels. I am not ready to break this radio to see if that setting works. The original frequencies are within FRS, but not necessarily corresponding to the correct channel numbers, so they maybe off a channel to other FRS radios. I did a test at low power setting and I was in contact around the neighborhood in about a 1/4 mile radius with some small buildings in the way. These are easy to carry radios as they are light. They have a fixed antenna so they comply with FRS rules. Audio quality is clear within the useable range. For this low price, it's a great buy and "toy".

Listing is wrong on Amazon.. it is not a "BF-888s Upgraded", it is a Baofeng T20, in fairness it is likely the vendor listing their product wrong.. and who knows why?? ANYWAY.. if you can get a hold of a pair of these (For $13.00!!! are you kidding me??!) grab 'em. They CAN be programmed just like the BF-888 and access repeaters and all the cool stuff. Field strength meter shows same output too. You WILL need the latest version of CHIRP and then use the setting FOR THIS RADIO. You do NOT need to use Radioddity or WLN36, or whatever the Youtubes say... in the latest CHIRP there is a setting for THIS RADIO. Though you will need to have Win10 or later to use the latest CHIRP. (they accept 400MHz to 520MHz) Bottom Line? Great little radios, fantastic bargain, get 'em!!! Downside, if any, the battery is pretty small, don't know how long it will last, it looks like an ancient cellphone flip phone battery, and yeah, the charge port is OLD mini-USB, but they include cables. There are charge tabs on side of radio, so presumably there is a drop-in charger somewhere, but it doesn't come with radio.

This is a nice UHF Handheld that was easy to program for the 440 Amateur Radio Band. I knocked off one star because it did not include a charger, as per the description.

I was going to give this 4 stars. But for the price, the sound quality, look, feel, and the fact it can be programmed with chirp, is all so much for such a low price tag.

Mini USB for charging would have been fine twenty years ago, but not today. There is no way I'm going to attempt to reintroduce mini USB back into my life just to charge this radio. Why didn't they just put USB-C in this thing?? A mini USB port has to cost more than a USB-C port by now, right? It's getting sent back, mini USB, what a waste.

Like that's it rechargeable and better range then other kids walkie talkie
