- AX3000 Dual-Band Wi-Fi 6 Router, 4X GbE, VPN Full, OpenWRT, WR3000S

This caught my eye because of the price and it was one of the few wifi6 routers that openwrt supports. Setup was easy, just flash their signed openwrt image and then update it to the newest openwrt. The stock firmware is based off openwrt and they provide the source code which is really nice. I was worried as i had never heard of them before, but im glad i bought it. Wifi speeds have been great and rock solid. The stock firmware is decent, but i felt it lacked some basic things, but enough options for your avg person. With openwrt you get all sorts of stuff you can use. I wish it had a little more storage or a usb port so it could load stuff off of there. Also you cant brick it, theres a built in recovery mode you can trigger and it lets you flash stock back to it.

While the original Cudy WR3000 had been "upgraded" to a v2 that does not support OpenWrt, this model retains the MediaTek Filogic 820 SoC that works with OpenWrt. Installation was a breeze, and made it so much more functional than the stock configuration. This is the real deal.

Pros: - Installed OpenWrt with no problem. It is nice to see a vendor that cooperates with open source projects. - The WiFi range beats my old TP-Link A7. Full coverage of my 2000 sqft home in the 5GHz bands. - Good price. Con: - I would have preferred it in black. ;-)

The stock firmware isn’t OpenWrt—as much as I wish it were. If you're planning to flash it, just be careful: hunting down the correct OpenWrt build on Cudy's site is tricky (I almost downloaded the wrong file and bricked my router), and the initial sysupgrade process takes some patience. Once you get vanilla OpenWrt running, though, performance is night and day compared to Cudy's stock software.

Works well with OpenWRT. Cuddy provides support for refreshing with OpenWRT and there is good support from the OpenWRT community. On top of that, Cuddy seems to be using a common platform for a lot of their devices, so setting up a bigger-than-one-device network goes pretty smoothly.

OpenWRT flash provided by Cudy works great! This is the brand to look to if you want to get into open source. I'm a bit biased because I updated from a 15 year old router but this travels from our first floor up to our 3rd with no issue and I can catch a signal around the dang block. Not a good one, but it exists.

Love this router. I have 3 of these and installed OpenWRT for some customization at my rentals. However, the default software is perfectly good enough and I ran it for nearly a year before experimenting with OpenWRT. I only did it as an enthusiast but their own OS is already built on OpenWRT and works great for many use cases. Including home use, rentals and small office.

Amazing range, good connectivity, good web setup and simple mobile app, it's a very decent budget router. It also doesn't drop speeds or freeze with multiple people connected. Good router.

Excelente equipo, lo uso como router neutro con OpenWrt y va muy bien, extremadamente estable, le he instalado varias aplicaciones y funciona muy fluido.

Rock solid so far. Brought this as it is openWRT compatible but haven’t bothered yet as the stock firmware is very easy and robust.

Like others who say they should have bought a new router a long time ago, so should I have. Using Wifi on this router gives me faster speed than using ethernet on my previous router. I don't even need to use ethernet (wired internet) with this. I got version 1.0 so I can install regular OpenWRT if I want to but I will stay with the default firmware for now. It has options for VPN, Adguard etc but im fine without it for now. Easy to set up. Remember to update firmware as soon as you get it.
