Hours is the 21st studio album by English singer David Bowie, originally released on October 4, 1999. This was the first complete album by a major artist available to download over the Internet, preceding the physical release by two weeks. Review: Phil 'Mitchy' Mitchell. - I grow up with David Bowie and have always insisted that his early stuff was the best 1970-80, after that period I started to lose a bit of intrest in Bowie's music, until I came across this one ('Hours') and after hearing it a few times I really love this album, it has made me start to listen to more of his more recent stuff, 1990-present and I have discoved a lot more of the reason I loved Bowie in my School Boy years in the first place, love 'If I'm Dreaming My Life' & 'Thursday's Child' in fact the whole album, so I'm re discovering his later work now !!!!!!!!! Review: In the Hours - Bowie's underrated album, This album is actually very good! There are some rocky type of tracks that are just like any of his other albums, personally I think his voice has matured into something great in this album! But it never got the rating it should get! A decent album I can't think of one song I do not like, some are growers like Thursday child. But pretty things are going to hell and new angels promise are great tracks, also a few are personal to Bowie. get it!

A later Bowie classic
Like many people it seems, I gave up on Bowie around when "Let's Dance" came out, didn't bother buying anything new of his for over 30 years, whilst continuously playing Ziggy, Hunky, Aladdin, MWSTW etc, the Bowie I loved and grew up with. It's really been only in the last few years that I've been exploring his later stuff, and especially since his terribly sad death. Hours was the most recent album of his that I bought, having heard and liked the album on Youtube. It has a wonderful, dreamy, gloomy quality, in his voice and in the production, it's wonderfully melodic. Standout songs for me are "Thursday's Child", "Seven", "Survive" "The Pretty Things..." - but all the songs are good to wonderful, and the more I play it the more I like it.

One of his best
This is an underrated gem by Bowie and in my opinion is in his top 3. Some of these songs are absolute masterpieces such as "seven" or "survive" and my favorite "Th Dreamers". Theres not a single bad song here and is a must have for anyone.

Not a fan in general.
I can honestly say I only really bought this as the music was on the Nomad soul game,to be honest it's really good anyway, that's from someone whose been into the more extreme end of music for 24 years!,my only qualm was that the last time I heard Seven was in a dentist's waiting room! so couldn't appreciate it properly.

Slightly lack-lustre album - lots of bonus material for die-hards!
After the relative ferocity of "Outside" and "Earthling" everyone is entitled to a low-key, more chilled-out affair, to balance the books, so to speak. Mr Bowie is no exception, and this album's follow-up, "Heathen" is my personal favourite of all the 'later' material. The vocal production and range of moods on taht album are amazing, and just a little bit less intense than the aforementioned two industrial tinged albums. So where does that leave "Hours" (2cd digibook version) in the scheme of things? For me most of the vocals seem very lazy (occasionally out of tune) and unenthusiastic. Maybe the strains in the Bowie/Gabrels production relationship were manifesting in the material itself, but unfortunately I have so far found very little to like on this album. Yes ,"Thursdays Child" is quite thought-provoking, and has nice (errrm) female backing vocals to help it along, but the vocal treatment of "Something In The Air" is halfbaked, almost annoying. Only rarely do some of the songs pull themselves out of the ordinary, which is a real shame as it sits amongst 3 strong, albeit difficult at times, creative albums offering so much more potential. This 2-cd version boasts a further 74 minutes of some interesting alternative takes, remixes and god-awful throwaway extra material (the last 4 tracks in fact). "Noone Calls" is just dreadful, slurred, out of key, lazy and essentially sounding like a poor drum-machine demo that should've stayed on the cutting room floor. Singing "Atall" repeatedly is surely not what we expect from Mr B, who is an incredible writer when on form. The Rock Mix of "Thursdays Child" is an excellent revamp though! I really wanted to like "Hours", and I suspect a few more listens will reveal its strengths, but it is a wee bit disappointing nonetheless. I know this review goes against the trend here, but I had hoped for more from this album. The packaging design of all these digibooks is poor too, as mentioned by another reviewer. The discs either stick in their tight wallets, so will get scratched, or fall out of the bottom once the card weakens a bit!

. . . . Super album !

This CD ROCKS!!!!!!!
I have always loved David Bowie's music and the way he CHANGES yet molds at the same time. He is a fascinating earthling and his music is as amazing. I love this CD.. "New Angels of Promise", "What's Really Happening", "Thursday's Child" and ESPECIALLY (love this song) "Seven" As for the "Neil Young" punch from an earlier reviewer--- please let it go! I think he looks great here and he always, as Neil Young, has been a master of disquise!!! (Actually both Neil and Bowie have very similiar concepts, too--and are both profound artists) Get this CD.. put it in during your mobiling.. you'll love it... and again, "SEVEN" will have you mysteriously humming a tune for days after..and you'll wonder.."What am I singing?" When a CD can either mix in with what your doing at a particular time or send you off in another plane it reaches me.. I think it will reach you too.. give it time..listen a few times, brush off those spiders from mars cobwebs in your brain and open your mind to a new sounds.. it's great!

Suena estupendo
