Tapo TC82 2K Battery Outdoor Security Camera Wireless

Love this camera!! So easy to set up, quality is amazing (see the images and videos) and both night and day quality is great. As it is charged by the solar panel it has stayed at 98% so far and not lost any charge. The settings are really good and you can do lots to change what you catch and when. We use the connection to the cloud which i am happy with as we have 4 other Tapo cameras in our home system and it all works really well. The responsiveness of the camera is good; none of these 'action cams' that catch things when triggered is 100% perfect and gets everything, but it catches about 99% of things, and I can connect quickly and check on the house from anywhere using the app. It is that good that we are going to get another couple for the garden to make sure the back of the house is covered too. Really happy and I don't see how you can be disappointed with the 4K quality, especially compared to other expensive alternatives - I have had both Ring and Blink cams, and I think that the Tapo 4K stuff is just as good, and more cost effective.

I bought the Tapo TC82 to keep an eye on my backyard and kids playing outside, and it has been fantastic. Setup took literally 5 minutes - just mount it, connect to the app, and you're done. No wiring and the 180-day battery life is no joke; it's been running for weeks with zero maintenance. The 2K video quality is sharp and clear, and the colour night vision is genuinely impressive - I can see every detail in the garden even when it's pitch black. The Al detection is smart enough to ignore swaying trees but still alerts me instantly when someone (or the dog) is there. Best of all, there are no monthly fees and it works perfectly with both Alexa and Google Home. If you want reliable, high-quality outdoor security without subscriptions or complicated installation, this is the one. I've already recommended it to friends and family. Highly recommend!

This is one of those 'so good I bought it twice'. I wanted to put a camera further up my garden where there was no power and went for this camera. Being powered by battery it Is very easy to mount and set up. It has been in place for about 2 months now and battery power is showing 91%. Adjustable detection is great avoiding annoying false alerts. Switching between 720 and 4k is great for speed. Look first in 720 and if there's anything to see switch to higher resolution. I bought a second for another location where the power supply was variable. Overall a quality product at a good price.

Before these I had Ring cameras and there was nothing wrong with them but I hated that i was paying £10 a month for the subscription so I said when they start to break etc i would replace with tapo, anyway the front door camera battery went and bought a tapo front door camera and loved it, great quailty and easy to install then these came on offer during prime day and said i would replace them all, again easy to install and set up and i like the fact these have lights on them which really help with the night time, i installed sd cards and i cam access all video on that so far better than the other cameras I had, the picture quailty is so clear and you can see everything. They look good as well so I am happy with them

A 4k, battery powered camera with solar panels and it delivers to a great standard. Very easy to set up, a great price (bought on prime day sales). The app is easy to understand and works along with other tapo devices to build an eco system. It's compatible with SD cards, a tapo home hub (I have the h500 which is also fab and gives extra functionality to your camera) and an option to subscribe for cloud storage but this is not essential at all. I've opted for an SD card as a back up and the h500 as the main driver to make use of the extra features it provides. A fantastic product which doesn't hide it's best features behind a subscription wall I will be buying more tapo cameras and slowly replacing my old cameras l, both to avoid subscription and because I'm genuinely much more impressed by these than my current system. Quality and value for money at the same time. Perfect.

Initial opinion was good, camera looks and feels quality, easy to install and set up. Camera has been up now for just over a week on a telegraph pole around 10 metres from the house and a WiFi extender in a bedroom window. The signal was terrible initially, so I’ve trimmed a hedge so that there’s direct line of sight, quality has improved slightly but still not good, glitching and pixelated. Next step will be to hard wire the WiFi extender into the broadband router and see if that improves the performance of the camera. I really do not want to go down the route of installing an outside WiFi extender which will cost me more money I don’t want to spend, I bought this camera at half price and if it was at full price I would be really unhappy at this point. I have had two blink cameras on the same telegraph pole For several years and they have worked flawlessly, but one of them is starting to give up the ghost and I decided to get a new camera because you now have to pay a subscription to blink which I am unwilling to do. The other thing that so far isn’t performing as I expected is the motion detection, the blink camera would pick up movement right at the end of our drive as people or cars came around the bend on our drive, this Tapo camera seems not to be able to do this and only activates when people or vehicles are half way up our drive, I have tried all the settings and apart from pointing the camera sensor directly at the end of our drive it seems like the sensor distance isn’t as good as my blink cameras. Picture quality is hard to comment on at the moment because the recordings are not very good at the moment, at 2k you’d expect decent quality and definitely should be better than the blink. Three stars at this point for the camera being half price,good build quality and easy to set up and install. I will update the review if the recording and motion sensor quality improves, if not I will have to think about returning the camera and trying a different one. To summarise I’d say these cameras WiFi range is poor and you will need a strong WiFi signal to get the best from them, or be willing to install and outside WiFi extender to reach the cameras.

Had this camera running now for 2 weeks. The image quality is good, the responsiveness also good. Some people have mentioned poor battery life. However, the issue seems to only occur if you use it for constant live view. It's also affected by factors such as positioning and how often it records. So if you site it where it will constantly be triggered, such as pointing at a road with lots of movement etc, then this wilI use more power. If you just have the app open in the background but not on live view, battery life is good. 2 weeks and mine is still on 80% battery. It's sited inside a stairwell pointing at a front door, so not triggered too often. So far. I'm very happy with the camera.

I bought 4 of these cameras as replacements for a different make of camera, which had become unreliable and were failing. Initially I thought they were a great improvement - 2K instead of 1080p, much better at detection, colour night mode, and many more options to customise detection range and behaviour. However within a few days it was noticeable that 2 of them were draining battery really quickly, so I contacted TP-Link support, and they suggested all the obvious stuff (some of which wasn't obvious to me at first), but despite having connected solar panels to all 4 cameras in the meantime, these 2 cameras were still losing battery charge quicker than the solar panel could charge them. So I was referred to Otto in the technical department - he was very helpful and responsive, and after a couple of firmware updates and sending him the diagnostic logs he reported that my router (ironically, a TP-Link AC2100) was sending too many Wifi "wakeups", and that I should try updating the router firmware. I had had no trouble with the other 2 cameras as they were connected to different routers, I had already connected one of the troublesome cameras to a different router and battery drain wasn't a problem any more, so I connected the other camera to it, and now no longer have the problem. The only quibble I have (and I have seen this complained about elsewhere), is that after initial setup it is not possible to switch to a different Wifi source, you have to completely reset the camera and go through the setup procedure again! Maybe they're taking cues from the Amazon Echo devices, which also need to go through setup to change the Wifi connection... So thanks to the TP-Link support team (and Otto in particular), I can now say I am more than satisfied with these cameras!

Yo tengo otras cámaras de la marca por lo que me interesaba comprar otra de la misma marca que pudiera controlar desde la misma app, pero que pudiera colocar en cualquier sitio sin preocuparme de la toma de corriente. Para eso, esta cámara es sensacional. La puedes colocar literalmente donde quieras mientras alcance la señal wifi. No necesitas tener una toma de corriente cerca, ni cables de ningún tipo. Una vez cargas la batería por completo (pongo foto del cargador específico que trae) la ficha de la cámara dice que dura 6 meses, pero en mis pruebas con un uso NO continuado (está activada y en vigilancia unas 12 horas al día) dura muchísimo más. En 3 meses y medio con este uso la batería ha bajado un 20%. Es decir, extrapolando, con un uso de 12 horas diarias la batería durará alrededor de 17 meses, casi el triple de lo indicado (eso sí: yo no le activo los focos potentes que trae si detectan a alguien por la noche). Una maravilla. Además, puedes ver en todo momento el estado de carga desde la app y te avisa de si anda baja de batería (en teoría, no lo he visto aún). Yo la he colocado en casa, en el interior, en una zona donde no hay acceso a corriente y estoy encantado. Da una buena calidad de imagen con un campo de visión muy grande y es fácil de configurar. Como pega decir que no tiene corrección de distorsión por el gran angular (o sea, que por la zona de los bordes se ve curvada) como sí tienen otros modelos de la marca, pero vamos, a mi no me preocupa para un uso de vigilancia. Otra pega es que eso que dice de visión nocturna en color es una idiotez: no es visión nocturna en color, sino que significa que al activar esa característica, cuando se mueve alguien delante de la cámara le enchufa las luces potentes que lleva y, claro, entonces se ve en color porque hay luz. Si no le activas eso verás con claridad en la oscuridad, pero en blanco y negro como con cualquier cámara con infrarrojos. Las luces infrarojas se ven bastante también. Por cierto, si le activas los focos cuando detecta a alguien dan mucha potencia y me imagino que gastarán mucha batería. Como puedes imaginar viendo las fotos, no se puede mover en tiempor real como sí pasa con otros modelos, por lo que debes colocarla estratégicamene para que abarque el área que quieres vigilar. Es una pena que la marca no haga una cámara con giro de 360º (como la C220) que lleve incorporada batería como esta. En resumen: una gran cámara de vigilancia para colocar en cualquier lado, con una batería eterna y un precio muy competitivo.
