They usually last 3 years, permenantly outdoors.
I have a pair at opposite corners of my small front yard, replacing multiple pop-ups that were annually breaking off below ground. Attached above ground I save annual maintenance to keep the system working. On the other hand they are a bit less efficient since there is a bit more overspray onto sidewalks. The distance is more than my small yard requires, with plenty of overlap and the interrupter to spread the stream into a mist. Installation was a snap. Toss away the spike base, install a riser from one of the old pop-ups, and screw this one down... then cap off the many popups. Quality is good and it's well designed. Plus, being above ground, it doesn't violate the rules, avoiding infiltration of pollutants back washing into the house's water supply. (Rain water getting in thu ground level sprinkler heads.)

Tried several different models over the years, these are the best by far. Run 6 of them in various spots

No instructions for use.
There were not any instructions and the product use was not very intuitive.

Very good coverage from one small sprinkler.
There are several adjustments for coverage area, and saturation. One Orbit sprinkler in opposite corners of my newly seeded 40 x 50 sq ft lawn. I am getting very good coverage with just a little hand watering. Sometimes it does leak at hose connection, or at the pattern adjustment. A new washer fixed the one problem. The adjustment rings need to be in perfect alignment (listen for a “click”) to prevent wild spraying (alll over you).

Not for Small areas
These leak after you turn off the water. Also cannot adjust the height of the spray. Not the best for a small area.

working on low water pressure no problem.
I have been struggling to find a good sprinkler that was both silent and working well under not so good water pressure and could work in a link mode of two or three. This one is it no doubt. Worth every penny you spent more on these than cheaper ones. Buy it. Take my money.
