Can I apply either side of OrthoDots to my appliance?

Accepted Answer

No, only one side of OrthoDots® has the moisture-activated adhesive on it. This is the side you can see through the clear blue liner in the bandage style packaging. The adhesive side is grooved and slightly cloudy (the cloudiness will disappear when it comes into contact with moisture).

I can't get OrthoDots to stick - what am I doing wrong?

OrthoDots® need moisture (saliva) to activate the adhesive, so please do not dry your appliance.  Grab hold of the device using two fingers, and make sure it is oriented so the adhesive side is the one that will contact the bracket.  Apply OrthoDots® by pinching onto and into the bracket for 3-5 continuous seconds.  This gives the adhesive time to be activated by the saliva.  Also, please do not push with just one finger.  This will cause OrthoDots® to smash or slide around before the adhesive can set.  If necessary, using two fingers, do additional pinching onto the bracket for a few continuous seconds each time to ensure the device is securely attached around the offending bracket.

Do OrthoDots work on appliances other than braces?

Yes! OrthoDots® CLEAR work on all orthodontic appliances, including clear aligners!  Using two fingers, pinch onto and into the offending aligner edge for 5 continuous seconds.

OrthoDots seem expensive compared to traditional dental wax - are they worth it?

I just got my braces. I had to get the stainless steel wire because I’m allergic to nickel. For every meal… I have to put something otherwise I end up all cut up inside. It’s a whole lot cheaper to do 99 cent wax of box per day than ortho dots, but when it comes to things like comfort where the back bracket bothers and cuts me
Me more… I put the dots on the back where they rub with my cheeks. They provide a good amount of comfort and don’t come off as easily as wax. So for comfort purposes where you are putting max 4 per day  maybe 8…. Its doable. But if you are like me with a super sensitive skin and hoping to just do orthodots…. It’s quite expensive. I have plenty of gum wax because honestly it’s cheaper…. And works well and I can just clean my teeth after eating and this includes removing the wax.
