Easy fix to a trusted tool.
My old DCD771 died yesterday producing a stinky smell out of the motor vent slot. Dropped an order to Amazon, got a delivery next morning. Took me about 45 min to open the old tool, do some cleanup, pack the gears with fresh grease, replace the motor and put everything back together. You will need torx screwdrivers, a soldering iron, some heat shrink tubes, a pair of disposable gloves and some patience. New motor works like a charm. Perfect fit and identical performance.

Old motor was smoking. New motor fit fine. Just to wiggle motor to get to fall into slots on case.
