Simple and Reliable Alarm Clock Radio
I bought this clock because I wanted something simple for my bedside table, and so far it’s been a good choice. I like that it sets the time automatically and has two alarms, which makes it easy to use. The green display is clear without being too bright at night, and the snooze button works well. I also like having the battery backup in case the power goes out. The radio is decent, although the sound quality could be better. Overall, it’s a nice basic alarm clock that’s easy to use and does what it’s supposed to do.

Genuinely great radio alarm
This alarm clock is what you want if you’re looking for the most economical alarm that can at minimum play radio for the alarm. It’s not intuitive to set up, but I was fine with that. There’s no backlight for the buttons at the top and they’re a little hard to read, but since that’s the worst thing about a $15 alarm clock that does everything else I want it to do surprisingly well, I’ll take it. Fwiw there’s a review on here from noname that says they’re frustrated the clock failed after 6 months - I don’t think it actually failed them based on how they described what happened. I think they had a grid outage and forgot or didn’t know to put batteries in it to back it up. I wish I could respond to their review so they could say if they did that or not. If you’re looking for a very well designed, high quality, wifi-enabled, midrange radio alarm this isn’t your best bet because the tradeoff for the price is it’s a little less than intuitive to set up, and is lacking some modern features. If you’re looking for a cheap alarm and you don’t care about radio, there’s $10 alarm clocks out there that are easier to set up than this one. If you don’t care whether it’s easy to set up, it’s actually a pretty awesome radio for the price. You can even set an alarm to only go off on weekdays, and to adjust to daylight savings time automatically. I’m honestly amazed it wasn’t more expensive.

Pretty Perfect
Kiddo needed a reliable alarm clock and since electronics like computers and cellphones aren’t allowed in the bedroom, I was looking for something. I wanted: 1. A radio alarm option. Not some annoying blood pressure inducing BEEP HONK RAWR. Check. 2. A digital display that is easy to read. Check. The display color is fixed but you can dim it quite a bit. 3. Easy to setup. Meh. The buttons have teeny tiny black engraved markings on a black plastic background. So as long as you can read it, it will be ok. I had to use the instructions to setup but i was pretty easy. The clock can accommodate DST, but since we don’t recognize DST here I was able to turn it off. You can also Preset radio stations so that’s fun, but it’s not like a car stereo where there’s button’s 1-6 or whatever. A little fun thing I liked was a gap at the bottom of this clock where you can fold up the instructions and squish them into the cavity. I used a little washi tape covering the cavity so that the instructions don’t fall out but also don’t get ripped when i pull the tape off.. you can use blue tape as well. I had to take off one star for the tiny black engraved font on the black background. Lastly, this is the second one I bought bc kiddo said the first one was “broken” after about a year of use. Friends, it was not broken. It just needed the button battery (for the persistent memory) to be changed.

dont buy it
I purchased this clock/watch and tried to set it up correctly, but the experience was extremely frustrating and disappointing. After receiving the product, I wanted to adjust the time properly. I pressed the “Clock Set Band” button because I assumed this was the correct way to set the time. After that, I noticed the “Time Zone” button and started pressing it because I thought it would help me correct the time settings. Instead of fixing the time, the clock started blinking, and shortly after that it completely turned off. At the moment, the clock is not working at all. I tried to find a reset button or any clear way to restart the device and restore the settings, but there is no reset button anywhere. This makes the product very difficult and confusing to use, especially for someone who is simply trying to set the correct time. The instructions are not clear enough, the buttons are confusing, and there does not seem to be any simple way to recover the device after something goes wrong. A basic clock should not stop working completely just because the time zone button was pressed during setup. This is a very poor user experience. I am extremely disappointed because I bought this product expecting it to be easy to set up and use, but instead it became unusable almost immediately. I would not recommend this product unless the manufacturer improves the setup instructions, adds a proper reset option, and makes the controls much clearer.

Great clock, great buy
At first, the clock was an immediate turn-off to me, because it looked difficult to know how to change settings. Can't say settings are obvious, so I thought it would be difficult to use. I debated returning it. But when I tried it, I quickly learned it, and now it is easy, and I love it for that reason. It is a great clock, and great buy, and now I have to say a great design for all those settings. It's manual page is quite clear (but is necessary first time). It's also extremely easy to read it at a distance.

Great Clock, but How Do You Disable the Alarm?
Many years ago (back in the mid-80s) I bought a digital clock radio that had all the basic functions and did them well - even more, it was a simple set-up. When the digital display started acting wonky I reluctantly realized I was going to have to replace it. It was like losing an old friend who had served me through the last years of my Army career, going back to college for my second career, and through my second career as a teacher. I needed a good, reliable alarm. That clock never failed, its battery operating for almost a week when a hurricane knocked the power out in 1995. My requirements to replace it were simple - a basic clock with a readable face, simple to program, a radio alarm function - WHEN I NEED IT - I learned in the Army the way you wake in the morning has a LOT to do with your mood the rest of the day. This Emerson clock seems to fit the bill. My gosh, it even sets itself! Adjusting to my Central Time Zone is no problem, its small, others complain about the sound of the radio - I have an excellent sound system for that - I want something that will wake me up in the morning, when I have to get up that won't rattle my nerves first thing. All systems check. So, why does this clock get only three stars? I'm retired and have a pretty good internal clock that wakes me at about the same time every day. I don't need an alarm clock every day and try as I might - I CAN'T GET THE STUPID ALARM FUNCTION TO TURN OFF!!! There is NOTHING about it in the stupid instruction manual (I guess I shouldn't complain, it's obvious English wasn't the writer's first language and he/she/it probably has a better command of English than I have of his/her/its primary language). I've tried the tricks mentioned by users and "Answers" provided on the Amazon product page, I've even looked at YouTube videos that provide solutions - NOTHING HAS WORKED!!! The best thing I've been able to do is set the alarm to later in the day in case I DO manage to sleep a bit late (sleep is a luxury for me) one morning. It appears the default is 8:00 am. That's usually late for me, but imagine sitting up with insomnia until 3:00 am and finally dropping off to have the alarm (which you thought you had disabled) go off at 8:00. I was not a pleasant person that day. I'd love to give this radio a 5-star rating but not being able to disable the alarm function when you don't need it seems to me to be a BIG deficiency. I know you're supposed to be able to set it to go off so many days a week - that's fine, but what about those of us who only need an alarm clock occasionally?

A Great Little SmartSet Clock Radio!!
What a great little Clock Radio!! I was looking for a small, easy to use Radio Alarm Clock. The screen is easy to read and the brightness of the display is easy to control. The size is compact which I liked. The alarm clock, and the radio was easy to set up and the radio comes in loud and clear. The vale of the price was great as this small clock radio works better then the $60.00 radio alarm clock I replaced. I wanted an alarm clock that automatically changed for day light savings time and the SmartSet feature does that which is a very nice feature. I would recommend this Alarm clock radio to anyone who wants a clear radio sound, easy to setup and a great price.

Really like this Alarm clock/AM-FM radio…
I actually own at least 7 of these throughout my house and maybe more. The first one of these I bought decades ago because it would automatically set/reset daylight savings time without me having to bother. The first one cost me $30+dollars and was well worth it. I could/can wake to alarm or radio and it has dual alarms. Unfortunately some of the led display numerals started to burn out on the original clock (after 20-25 years of use) and it became difficult to read the actual time; so I looked on Amazon and found another one that had the same features but the size had gotten smaller which was ok by me. I put it to use so that I had two alarms set daily because I absolutely had to be at work early to open up or I would have dozens of people pissed if I was late. Truthfully, I found these on Amazon warehouse that had been returned but were in like new condition and at least half off the original price from years ago. As mentioned, the smaller size meant a smaller speaker on the radio so waking to music is not a great listening experience, but, when I want to listen to music I have several other quality options. I use these clocks mostly for time now since I’m retired and have one in most rooms of the house and basement. When time changes in spring and fall I don’t have to run around resetting clocks anymore. Check these out if you need a dependable clock/radio for a reasonable price…Forgot to mention these now have several brightness/dimmer settings that my original one did not have!

Unsuitable for UK customers. Please Refund
I received an Emerson SmartSet Alarm Clock Radio with AM/FM Radio, Dimmer, Sleep Timer and .9" LED Display, CKS190 from the UK Amazon website. When I plugged it in it showed the display briefly before going dead. I have now discovered that it is only suitable for 120V 60Hz AC power and the UK is 240V! This information is not available on the Amazon UK website and one wonders why it is even advertised there and I find that I am not the first to point this out to Amazon. I have raised this issue days ago and have still not had the courtesy of a reply. I expect a full refund.
