Color + Clenditioner, Semi-Permanent Hair Color, 23 Shades

Two weeks ago I went to the salon and had my hair bleached to platinum. It wasn’t really my goal and is a little more extreme than I wanted, but I told her icy and that’s what I got lol. You live and learn. After washing my hair just once the toner they used that left my hair white with an almost silver tone basically washed out completely even though I used Kevin Murphy’s purple conditioner. My hair was left looking yellow and Goldilocks-looking and was super dry. Freaked out, I remembered seeing this stuff when I just had a normal balayage but never bought it cuz my hair wasn’t platinum. I purchased immediately. I’ve only used it once and I’ve got to say, I love it and it works really well. First off you wouldn’t think it’s very strong because it’s a light purple, very much like other purple conditioners including the very expensive Kevin Murphy which didn’t work at all. Since that one didn’t work I didn’t think this stuff would be strong by looking at it. Looks can be deceiving though haha. It feels like a conditioner and at first I was a little weirded out by not having to wash my hair with shampoo beforehand. I saturated my hair which is cut into a long bob. I used about 6-8 pumps. I left it on for 15 minutes. I was pleasantly surprised by the scent. It smells like some sort of candy. After rinsing, my hair was super soft and no longer felt weird or strawlike. It was even easier to dry. Upon drying I could tell that this dramatically reduced the yellow Goldilocks look of my hair and left my hair not only smooth and silky, but whiter and brighter. It did not completely remove the yellow altogether, but for one wash with leaving it on 15 mins it did a darn good job without leaving my hair with a purple tint. The scent is strong and two days later my hair still smells like candy, is still whiter and still silky smooth and way more manageable. Next time, I’m going to leave on for 20-25 minutes and I think it’ll knock out any yellow tones remaining. I don’t plan on being platinum for long (I’m missing a more natural look) but until I get my hair redyed to look a bit more natural I’m going to be an avid user of this stuff.

I have this on auto ship. I use to use blue and purple shampoo until my stylist recommended the Keratin. I was skeptical at first, it was more of grey tint and did not stain my hands like the others. I have brown hair with platinum highlights. I use this on dry hair once a week for about 30 minutes and it does not dry out my hair. In fact, it makes it feel amazing while taking my somewhat yellow or brass in my highlights to a perfect platinum color. First time I used it, I used it for five minutes and it did nothing. Each week had to adjust to find the right time to leave on my hair to get desired results. Don’t get discouraged on your first use and try it on dry hair or for a longer duration. You must already have blonde hair or blonde highlights for this to work. It does nothing but conditions my medium brown hair put takes my highlights to a great platinum. If you have long hair you will go through a bottle of this quickly. I buy a bottle a month using it once a week on my long hair.

I'm giving this product 4 stars because it definitely works although I do have a few issues with it. I got the platinum color. For context, I have bleached hair. I get it professionally done and it costs me a fortune so I would never touch my hair with anything but purple shampoo. However, I started going to a new hair salon and my new hair dresser just cant seem to get my hair the icey / platinum blonde I like, it's usually more yellow so I decided to try this out. It says to put it on wet hair but that you can use it on dry hair for a more dramatic look. I tried it on wet hair first and IT DID NOT WORK AT ALL. I left it on for probably 20 minutes and I didn't see any change. A few days later I decided to try it on dry hair and I could definitely see a huge difference. I just want to note that you need to be careful. I tried doing it as evenly as I could but it was definitely streaky. It was not that bad though and I was getting my hair done anyway in a week. Cut to the week of my hair appointment. My hair dresser completely messed up my hair! It was so streaky with white pieces / yellow pieces and the bottom of my hair (which is growing our from being highlighted so is a little darker) looked awful. I said something at the salon but the lighting is bad so didn't really see how awful it was until I got home. I was really upset so decided to ruin my blowout and immediately use this product. It definitely helped. I strategically placed the conditioner on the yellow strands and was able to get the whole top of my head platinum. My only issue is that the bottom of my hair which is a bit of a darker blonde barely made a difference. I also had to use the entire bottle over a course of 3 washes to make it the color I want. Also, from what I read this product isn't supposed to be bad for your hair but my hair feels very dry. I will buy another bottle to keep around. Will also be going to a new hair salon lol.

If you're a pale bright platinum blond don't use this. It will dull down your highlights even if you paint it in. You cannot easily remove it and the effects might be permanent. The color does not build to a dark color but it is neutral and very plain. It takes the right skin tone for it to be flattering. It will not fix yellow blond tape-in extensions it turns them light brown period. Just be sure you test the color. All and all it works, it doesn't irritate and does not wash out of pre-lightened hair. :)

UPDATE: I recently chopped my hair into a super short pixie and love it! I use one pump of this and it's plenty of product. ALSO instead of the much longer hassle of a process I described below I just use this like a normal conditioner in the shower after I wash my hair. I do let it sit on my hair while I shave and whatever, but I get the same results WITHOUT putting so much time into it. I'm all about simple and easy. I will say that of the two colors I bought to pop my new grays coming in plus the silver highlights, I do think the platinum might work a smidge better than the silver. But since I bought one bottle of each I'll be using both up before I purchase more. Using these in addition to purple shampoos make turning gray/silver kinda fun and interesting. So much easier than covering them up every 4 or 5 weeks. I recently grew out my long-time box color hair and grew in my newly natural salt and pepper brunette and gray hair. Love the look but missed tweaking my hair color and needed a POP. I decided to get blended silver highlights all over with more around the face and LOVE IT. I wash my hair every other day and use a purple shampoo (Jhirmack) every other time but wanted my highlights even brighter; I read several reviews about this product and decided to buy the PLATINUM color and the SILVER color. Many reviews said this product worked better on dry hair, so after washing with purple shampoo then drying, I applied 6-7 pumps to my (short) hair, worked it in and let it do its thing for 60-70 minutes. After rinsing and drying, I loved it- the silver highlights are "brighter", which is exactly what I was hoping for. Next time I'll follow the same steps but mix half Platinum and Silver to see what happens. I'll play around- I also want to see what it looks like applied to wet hair so I can skip the extra drying step. All in all I love that it fills the void of tweaking my hair color from time to time, it's a conditioner that smells great, and honestly the price isn't too bad. Wish it was cheaper, but still super glad I stumbled on this product.

What a waste of money. I washed my hair and left it slightly damp. My hair is the lightest blonde that has turned brassy. I put this conditioner on and left it on for 40 minutes using a plastic hair cap. It did absolutely nothing and am not happy paying $26 for basic hair conditioner.

I have used this for multiple different colors. The purple/blue/pink are great even if you don’t have bleached hair. They can also make your salon dye job last for longer without fading. I had a friend who had salon dyed blue hair and used this once a week and her color always looked awesome. But this review is mostly about the platinum color. Per Keracolor, the pastel line (including platinum) is best used on very light bleached hair. My hair is not that color and I found it hard to find reviews with people using on my hair tone. I knew this wasn’t going to lighten my hair but I ordered this to tone my hair. A little bit about my hair. My natural color is dirty blonde but goes more light brown in the winter. It is very photosensitive and will go very blonde if I spend a lot of the time in the sun but I live in Oregon so that isn’t always possible. I dyed it dark brown with box dye and let it fade/grow out for about 6months before going to my hair dresser wanting to start to go back blonde. I’m allergic to peroxide lifter so I can’t have it on my hair for very long at one time without getting hives. Meaning it takes a few sessions to really lighten my hair. The issue was that my natural hair lightened a lot better than the areas where there was still box dye. I used John Frieda lightening spray to try and blend it more, which worked but left a golden hue that purple shampoo wouldn’t fix. So I used the keracolor platinum to tone it and it turned out awesome. The picture is after one wash with the platinum color. Most important thing to know about this product is to use on dry hair. It works SOOO much better. Also, apply directly on to hair from the bottle. The color deposits will transfer to whatever it touches first, including hands and gloves. I apply it directly on dry hair and use a comb to run it through until evenly covered. When it starts to look like normal conditioner, you got the color deposits out.

This is an amazing tinted cleansing conditioner (known as a cowash) that is much stronger than you might think given that it’s a pale violet color. But I have some REALLY strong gold underlying pigment and this neutralizes every last bit. And I don’t have to use it every time. It lasts through a couple of regular shampoos (sulfate free is critical for color treated hair) or many cowashes (the gentlest cleansing method that causes zero color fade). However, if my hair is super dirty with a lot of product buildup (dry shampoo/pomade/styling spray), the Clenditioner alone doesn’t get it clean enough. So first I cowash with a clarifying conditioner (Shea Moisture African Water Mint and Ginger Detox conditioner with activated charcoal) or I use the Dphue ACV Rinse, which takes the place of both shampoo AND conditioner and also removes buildup without fading my color (and it also has essential oils so it smells amazing). Either one of these used before the Clenditioner gets my hair clean which occasionally the Clenditioner doesn’t do alone. The first time you use the platinum Clenditioner, leave it on for just a few minutes (3-5) and then check the results. You can always leave it on longer if need be. But if you leave it on too long, like any violet tinted product, your hair will get a purplish tint. If this happens, just wash your hair with either a sulfate free clarifying shampoo or your regular sulfate free shampoo (although you may have to lather it twice to fully remove the violet tint). Easy peasy. My hair is a pale metallic silver, which I discovered fades even faster than red. So I use one pump of platinum, one pump of the silver Clenditioner and one pump of the silver/blue (available only on Amazon). This gives me a beautiful silvery tone with a bluish undertone, which I love. And the Clenditioner actually works better for me than the toners I’ve tried. It leaves my hair super soft and well hydrated so it’s very heatlhy looking and has lots of bouncy body. Just be sure you rinse really well. My hair is VERY coarse and dry so in additon to the Clenditioner I use a very moisturizing conditoner on the mid lengths and ends after I rinse out the Clenditioner. Doing this doesn’t remove any of the tinted added by the Clenditioner formula I use. Even for those with fine hair, the Clenditioner is a great way to maintain your color. And btw, Amazon has the full range of shades, which Ulta doesn’t. I didn’t even know there was a silver/blue option until I checked out Amazon. And the platinum shade is $2 cheaper on Amazon.

I used the kerecolor platinum and it does exactly what it says in the pack. Neutralized the brassiness of my hair and I was left with a vibrant platinum within one wash and I only kept it on 5 minutes. Fantastic results, definitely a 5 star product.

I looked at some of the photos of before and after and decided to try the platinum , it was not at all what I see in the photos. My hair is VERY bleached out and light so depositing color is quite easy, this product however didn't touch my hair to tone down any hints of yellow/orange. it was a total waste of money. Also (my fault for not checking) but the photo on Amazon looks like it might be a nice big bottle.....not at all!! I gave it one star because that was the lowest choice.
