Cync GE Smart Color Changing LED Strip Lights, Alexa, 16 Ft

$14 for 16’ light strip that works with Apple HomeKit (Matter), you can’t beat this deal. Lights are as vibrant as any other affordable strip I’ve ever used. The adhesive backing is strong and allowed me to securely fastened to the back side of my desk. As long as you have an Apple hub that supports Matter, you’ll have no problem setting this up. In my case, I have a Home Pod with the latest firmware. Setup took about 25 seconds. It fully integrates with HomeKit and so far, works perfectly. Works really well as an ambient light. Under the bed, behind desk, above kitchen cabinets, you get the idea. You’ll need about 5 inches from any lit surface to avoid seeing the individual LED’s. That distance allows the light to diffuse properly and give a nice ambient glow.

I bought two sets of these lights to add to the back of my bar cabinet and they look amazing. The app is easy to use and I love the ability to set custom light configurations based on my own preferences. I have a Cync light bulb and so I appreciate the ability to control everything together. Installing the light strips was easy except my cabinet required a bit of modification to get the strips through the middle, but once we did that they stuck exactly where we wanted them and have stayed in place with no problems. The colors are vibrant and look stunning, people compliment on them when they come into the house and I have them on. I will say that the system does do one odd thing - when the power goes out and comes back on the lights come on automatically. It’s strange because the other light that has the Cync bulb doesn’t do that. It’s not really that big of a deal but something to note.

I’ve been buying strip lights for years and these GE lights are no question the best and EASIEST to connect to Alexa that I have ever had. You can just give them a name and tell Alexa to connect to them and it’s done…. The absolute BEST !!!

Let me preface this by saying that I still really like these lights. I just built a custom record cabinet and included two of these strips directly into the build. I linked them to my Apple Homekit smarthome with an Aqara smart button to run different scenes. When they work, they work great. But, occasionally, one or both will just become non-responsive. A quick reset (using a smart plug, so I don't have to move the cabinet to access the outlet every time) and they're back online for a few days, before one of them glitches again. I intend to set up an automation that just resets them every single morning, but I've been lazy about it. Not certain if anyone else is having the same issue, but it's happening to BOTH of mine, intermittently. If that's something you can live with, you can't beat these for the price, if you want Matter control. I'm kinda stuck with them for now because they're built in, so I'm just gonna keep making it work. Not 100% happy with them, but like I said, when they WORK...they look great.

We Love these strip lights. Simple to set up (put in place where you want it as long as you have an outlet). Easy to use and set up in the Cync App. Great that is also works with Alexa even when it's been set up with Alexa. The lights are bright and can dim to your preference best done in the Cync App. I have also been able to add other Cync sets of these light strips together and keep them separate all at the same time. Great QUALITY AND 32 Feet is fantastic because you can cut it shorter if needed (we did, that's what you see is left over in the box in one photo). Connected easily and quickly with the Cync App. This is our third one and is the newer version the only difference we really see is it comes in more feet which is fantastic. Great color options.

Very bright, colorful and good adhesion to the wall. I wish it could do everything my GE multicolor bulbs do but thats just a vanity function. Every color shines bright but it wont add to my Cync app. Alexa controls it right out of the box. READ the instructions where it tells you NOT to turn it on when it's still coiled up!

October 26 Updated my review, I've had nothing but ongoing problems with these lights (2 sets). They constantly disconnect from the app, and I have to reset them more than a dozen times in 10 months. Since the last app update, it has become even more frustrating, as it takes multiple attempts to get the lights to reconnect. I go through the process only to encounter an error at the end. The lights don't show up in the app, but when I turn off the group, they still turn off, even though they aren't listed on the app, its like they half worked but don't show up in the app. Tonight, after fighting with them for an hour, I ripped them out and threw them away. I would not recommend this product at all just too buggy! January 2025 I recently purchased these lights to replace some old Philips Hue light strips that were installed on top of my kitchen cabinets. I already own several other Cync lights, which I generally like. However, I was slightly disappointed with these. Most Cync products are comparable to Philips items, such as under-counter lights and bulbs, but these are not. The emitters are spaced too far apart and are not very bright. I will keep them since they are already installed, but I would choose something different if I ever need to replace them. They just aren't bright enough for accent lighting on top of kitchen cabinets. Additionally, the app is quite buggy. After adding 15 or 16 Cync devices, the app has become very slow and frequently lags after I launch it. When I turn on a light, there can be a delay of up to three to four seconds before the app becomes responsive again. Sometimes, when I switch off a light, the app will lag and remain unresponsive, and the switch will still appear on in the app. Another issue I've had while installing the lights is that the app shows an error when updating the firmware on every light—not just these. I believe the firmware is updating, as the app keeps spinning and eventually times out. If I attempt to update it again, I receive an error. I can skip the update after an error occurs, but the light remains unresponsive for several minutes after installation. Overall, I find the app to be very buggy. I’m transitioning my house to Home Assistant, so this should not be an issue moving forward.

It “works” with Apple HomeKit in that you can turn it on/off, change it to a single color, and change the brightness. It’s functionality is severely limited. It’s my first Cync device. Of course, it wants me to create an account if I want the advanced features. I don’t want an account. I have plenty of IoT accounts. I shouldn’t need an account to change my lights. I’d rather have my Govee lights. Same Apple functionality, but their app has a ton of options and doesn’t require an account. I’ll keep these, but only because I don’t need anything more than the basic Matter support.
