Arrinew Smart Plug Wifi Mini Socket Outlet Wireless timing Smart Switch Remote Controlled Sockets Compatible with Amazon Alexa, Echo and Echo Dot for IOS and Android with Voice Control

Adding another light to my smart home setup is fairly easy with this Arrinew Wifi Smart Plug. All you need to do is use its eFamilyCloud app. To configure it for voice control, there's another app for that -- Echo Dot's Alexa, which needs to learn a "skill" to connect with this device. Here's where I named it "reading light," and also added it to a group I call "everything." That lets me turn off all my lights connected to the system when I go to bed by simply saying, "Computer, turn off everything." See my video for a demo of that magic.I know, all that might not qualify as "fairly easy," but that's the way it goes these days with the "smart home." YOU must be exceptionally smart to make it all work together. Once I had that labyrinth navigated, the Wifi plug worked well, responding to my every command. Well, almost. It can't dim anything and it doesn't work with Apple HomeKit, but it's fine with the Amazon Echo Dot (which I call "computer") and it also works via its eFamilyCloud app on iPhones and Android phones.But it's not perfect. This plug is big and takes up two outlets. In my situation, the bottom receptacles are unswitched -- always on. I must plug this wifi switch into that because the top receptacle is connected to a wall switch in the room where I've installed this. If the wall switch is off, nothing works with this Wifi plug. That creates confusion, especially to those who are not familiar with this complicated system (everyone but me). When this plug is inserted into the lower receptacle, the top switched outlet is covered up by this long device. Not good -- it should be oriented sideways or adjustable so it won't block any outlets. I also wish the switch could be set up using the 5GHz Wifi band, instead of the old-fashioned and interference-prone 2.4GHz.Besides those shortcomings, I guess in these early days of "smart" home tech I can't expect everything to work with everything, or for all features to be possible with each device. That's especially true with a product like this with a relatively low price of $16.99. Some plugs like this can cost $50, so that's why I only subtracted one star for this unit's deficiencies.TL;DR: Turns on whatever is plugged into it with voice control, but you'd better know what you're doing.

For such a low cost I couldn't be happier with the fact that it actually works. Arrinew smart plugs are compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Home, but NOT Apple HomeKit. This isn't too big of a complaint, however, as I'm a big fan and owner of Amazon Alexa. This does seem to be a bit bulkier than necessary in comparison to other smart plugs on the market - like the widely sold (and pictured)  TP-Link Smart Plug Mini, No Hub Required, Wi-Fi, Works with Alexa and Google Assistant, Control your Devices from Anywhere, Occupies Only One Socket (HS105) , for example. (Which isn't actually so "mini" when compared to other TP-Link smart plugs.) Ypu can see from the photos how large this is compared to the aforementioned smart plug and also in comparison with a dock and standard plug. The app is amazing, though, so really there's not too much to complain about.

I love this. I have it paired with Google home and Alexa simultaneously. I use it to activate an ultrasonic Canon I made to quiet the dogs next door. I can activate this with my cell phone app or voice buy a Google home and Alexa.UPDATE: I came home today and my custom appliance connected to this was powered up even though the light on it indicated it was off and the APP also indicated it was off. The relay stuck! BS! I unplugged it and banged it around a little bit, plugged it in and it seems to be ok now but how will I ever have confidence in it again???

Very good building quality and long distance WiFi access. Connection is stable. Have a lot of fun to play with. Reasonable price.

The control is very easy! I installed eFamilyCloud free app, which is the virtual remote, in my phone, and now I can control the socket all round the world.

Easy to set up with the eFamilyCloud app, so easy to connect to the alexa for voice activated control possibilities. It is so convenient that you can control wifi socket through wifi when you aren't at home. If you forget to turn off an appliance all you have to do is log into the app and shut it down

It really works. Using Amazon alexa to control the lights is very convenient. And good price too.
