Thorbolt MK1 Smart Lock – Best Decision I’ve Made for Home Security I was already impressed with my first Thorbolt MK1, but it was so good that I ended up buying three more for other doors in the house. This lock is an absolute upgrade in every way. What stands out most: The fingerprint unlock is incredibly fast and reliable. I’ve never had it fail once, even after almost a year of heavy daily use on our bedroom door (multiple times a day). I set up the keypad code during installation just to test it, but I honestly haven’t used it since — the fingerprint sensor is that dependable. Battery life is excellent. After nearly a year on the original set of batteries with constant use, they were still reading 1.45 VDC when I checked them. It truly has every feature you’d want: fingerprint, keypad, physical backup key, and even a USB-C port so you can power it up if the batteries ever run completely down. First one took about 10 mins to physically install, but then I was able to install the next 2 in about 3 mins each. I got these for my kids to be able to lock their rooms from their siblings and siblings friends when they leave and not have to keep a key with them, but also provide me easy access without a key, They work very well for their purpose and seem to be well built. App is very easy to setup and configure. Time will tell if the batteries actually last a year and if the hardware and fingerprint reader holds up. Price is a little high, but its worth it for the thread protocol, seemless integration with homekit and quality of hardware. I would not even consider these on an external door. I happy with these because I didnt need to modify the doors in any way and I will be able to quickly put the original knobs back on the doors if i decide to move.

Absolute garbage of a door handle, had it for less than 6 month and just continuously resets each time you touch the thing. The company sent me a warranty replacement, but at this point I'm done with this brand. The app is trash too. Hard pass, went and bought a shlage instead. Thorbolt must be marketing hard on reddit, probably fake comments, because I saw them recommended numerous times. But this product is a piece of junk.

I love it! I use my Apple TV as a the bridge and although I live with family, I can unlock my door from work if someone needs something out of my room or give them a password to enter. When I get home I simply hold the knob and press my thumb and I’m in quickly. The batteries is kind of annoying to replace but I’ve only needed to replace them once since I purchase it in February. Going to purchase more for other doors.

This smart lock is a solid and well-built device, but the setup process can be a real pain. I had to restart it multiple times to get it connected to my Apple Home, and the rubber cover for the keyhole underneath doesn't stay in place well after being opened once.
