Beautiful knife
It's more expensive than you might normally expect from a brand which is famous for extremely efficient manufacturing and surprisingly low prices. But in addition to being a more heavy-use knife, it's made a little nicer than a lot of other models. The blade is a perfect piece of work, with crisp perfect bevels and a nice consistent pattern. The thick steel and larger amount of grind work needed for both the blade and the tang probably add to the cost. Compared to a lot of Kabar and Ontario models of similar price, this has a better heat treat job and more precise grinding. It has woodsy durability AND a good hard razor edge. Some notes: 1. The black coating on the carbon model is not a cheap paint job. It's some modern micro-thin but super-hard substance which can provide protection while still being thin enough for the perfect grind pattern of the steel to show through. It looks amazing. 2. Be aware that this is intended for some hefty use, so they made it with a very small secondary bevel at the edge, about the same angle as a normal knife would have. I gave mine a very fine touchup job to give it a super sharp edge. 3. The handle is a single substance, but it is NOT just hard plastic. It's a very hard rubber material which might seem hard at first, but if you thumbnail it you can tell there is a very tiny amount of flexibility. So it's not sticky-rubbery like the outer part of models like the Kansbol or Eldris, but it's not a hard plastic which will crack if the blade is hammered hard enough to make it flex. This is exactly the right way to make a heavy-duty knife with a molded handle. 4. The knife does have a slight "pop" when it goes into the sheath, but it's much weaker than models with a hard plastic area in the middle of the handle. It won't fall out if you hold it upside-down, but it will fall out if you do that and shake it enough. Get the leather or multi-mount sheath system, both with some form of a snap-over closure, if you plan to do acrobatics. The only thing I'm not too thrilled with is the lanyard hole in the handle. It's in a place where my pinky sometimes rests. Other good options, if you somehow just aren't sure about this one, are ESEE and Utica's US-made models. I'd put them all as roughly tied for first place in the range of $70-100.

Always happy with a Mora
Love my two Moras. Bought the companion first and loved it, so I decided to invest in a full tang version. The weight is great and I like the feel and idea of the full tang going through the blade and handle for when I use it for projects that require more wear and tear. They are a great quality knife for bushcraft and outdoor activities. Affordable and easy to have more than one handy with different 'kits' so you know you always have a good knife around when you need one.

Preis-Leistung: top!
