This lighter is old school and works great!

I replaced the flint with an official zippo flint and let it sit for a few days after I filled it with kerosene. It works flawlessly now. About the same size as a zippo. The permanent match is hard to light due to it soaking in fuel but I light it with the lighter and then use the match like a match for my pipe and my kerosene heater. If you are resourceful you will like this, if you just want to push a button and everything work for you get a BIC.

It's a good lighter ... you do have to loosen the flint wheel upon first getting it (took me a few minutes to figure THAT one out) ... and the biggest downside to this that I've found is that it's essentially a "left hand" lighter. It's not designed to be held or used in the right hand (unless you've got some interesting manual dexterity with your fingers that I lack) - holding it in the right hand, you have to "push" the wheel away from you which feels un-natural (to me). I do love the additional "permanent match" feature that comes with this (takes a few tries to get the hang of sparking that on the striking plate in the side of the lighter). Fits well in the hand. Shipped fast & looks good.

Refilled this lighter and lit it to test it. When I tried to extinguish the flame by closing it, the lighter stayed lit and I was unable to diffuse it. I frantically had to suffocate it as the lighter began to ignite at the seams, nearly setting my house on fire. I’m not sure if my lighter was simply faulty as it was leaking fluid at the seams, but I’m definitely disposing of it ASAP and buying a different one. The match is also unreliable, so there’s not much reason to buy this lighter, you’re better off getting a different one.

This is my first time getting one of these kinds of lighters. It's something I thought would be perfect for my son's camping trips or for a bug-out bag. It is a well-built light made from quality material. I do feel the lighter will hold up for years to come.However, instructions were not included and I am having a hard time figuring out how to work it. At this point, I only describe the quality but can't tell you how well it works. I am going to find an instructional video online and see if I can get figured out. If I can, then I will update the review.
