I will admit some of the one star reviews had me a bit skeptical of this device. But I found myself wasting a lot of time on my old touch screen phone so I wanted something cheap and simple. Having access to the internet and a computer made setup very easy. I had no trouble setting the phone up on the track phone website. Additionally I want to be very clear your phone should come with the SIM card pre installed already. You do NOT need to purchase a SIM card it comes with one pre-installed(the amazon listing doesn't do a good job at clarifying this at all). It does have a space for a micro SD card if you want to put one in. That said don't be foolish like me and waste extra money on a SIM card you don't need. Overall the phone is okay quality for the price the screen is bright, the phone is fairly large and has big buttons so it would be good for seniors/kids, speaker volume isn't amazing so if you are hard of hearing or make calls in loud environments that may be something to consider. Overall very solid cheap phone. I will certainly buy another if this one breaks. Also 15$/month unlimited talk/text is very competitive in todays market.

It's a good phone. If you want something simple

Description says no additional purchase. I thought this would be an inexpensive phone for my husband in case it gets lost. He has dementia and I wanted to be able to set it up for him to call his friends, but after four or five hours tonight, trying to set it up and being on the phone with TracFone and Amazon, Customer Service, which both places customer service was very good but the description on this phone said no additional purchase will be necessary. What is the phone that does not make calls? This phone cannot be activated. The TracFone customer service rep said I could buy $150 package. I was not expecting that. That was the least expensive I could buy. But the customer description here said no additional purchase necessary.

Adequate for calling and receiving texts - numeric keyboard makes entering text awkward. Email app does not work with gmail. Browser is not compatible with gmail. Setting up wi-fi calling is a bit deceptive - first prompt is for Address Number - Tracfone support couldn't understand what I was asking about. Turns out you can skip that, scroll down and enter your actual physical address which may not be recognized as "valid" (not in the E911 system?) but you can "use it anyway" by selecting that option. You will need to create a KaiOS account using as your ID your email address. If you also log into Google, you can then import your gmail contacts (though it is understood that google has disallowed this). I did have a period when I was told the account was locked. Not sure what I did to fix it, other than leave it for an hour or so and trying again. A more sure way to transfer contact information is by exporting your contacts on your original phone, then by transfering the file to the TCL phone (by USB or bluetooth) then importing that file into your contacts.

I got this phone for my 8 year old. I don’t think he’s old enough to have access to the internet yet, so this phone is perfect. It’s durable, very easy to use, and comes with parental controls. I was disappointed that the phone came with YouTube, but parental controls keeps him from being able to access it. I can’t recommend this enough as the perfect option for children if you need to be able to reach them but don’t want them to have access to a smart phone.

As a phone it's a great phone. As for internet It's hard to use, the keypads do zoom in and out 1 for out 3 for in and 5 for easy scrolling, but it won't tell you that anywhere. You can customize your ringtone but not notifications. There also isn't a way to keep window tabs open, so like when have to do a text verification for something it's almost impossible. The apps are only Kai OS apps and there's not a lot of options including social media or anything official. It does have some Kai created games. The camera isn't great but also not as bad as I expected. It plays music (I downloaded some to my SD card) and the button on the front you can triple click to call an ICE number and if you hold it down the flashlight turns on which is really convenient...although sometimes it turns on in my pocket. Also which you could edit/customize the front screen and the shortcut apps menu. It was really easy to set up. Not sure about long term but it seems pretty durable so far. Connectivity so far is good, it runs on Tracfone obviously so it has the same Tracfone coverage. I got this to get me by for 2 weeks while my regular smartphone is getting fixed and it's definitely an adjustment but it'll get me by! Also you can't get RCS chats so people with smartphones have to turn that off in the group chats to get their messages.

This phone was very easy to set up and I love it! Love the keyboard and radio also. Will definitely be getting another Tracfone! the phone comes with the SIM card , and you just have to purchase a Tracfone card and make a Tracfone account.
