I've had this book in my cart for 2 years watching reviews & talking to other people about the book. Within those 2 years I got more into medicinal plants and really wanted something in paper form. My brother in law purchased this as a birthday gift for me. The book came in shrink wrapped which was great my hands were the first to touch the book and flip the pages. The cover has a glossy finish, and the pages are slightly thinner than standard printer paper. I love the layout and how the book has colored visuals throughout the entire book. I love how it gives you details on the different techniques, supplies, and ways to use the medicinal plants. The remedies are seperated by alignment/ benefits. Its easy to follow each remedy even gives you recommend doses. For lower star reviews saying they are missing pages or remedies... no nothing is missing. They just don't know how to read a table of contents. It isn't the number of remedies but the number on the page the remedy is. Part one are suggestions on how to set up your herbal apothecary. It goes into detail where to source herbs and ingredients and how to ensure the seller is selling you authentic herbs and ingredients, choosing equipment and supplies, and different ways to store and perserve. Part two goes into great detail on different herbal preparation and uses. There are so many ways to prepare certain herbs to extract the medicinal properties and honestly this section educated me on differences and purposes. Part 3 are all the remedies and recipes that are categorized under each alignment. Lastly part 4 is the safety guidelines and precautions. So honestly this book should have never received a low review for user error & incompetence. That being said, I love this book so much I started looking into other books from the author relating to medicinal and edible plants. My husband bought me another one of the authors books for my birthday and now I have 2 more waiting in my cart. I am so excited to add her books to my book shelf & read every page. She has became one of my favorite authors for medicinal and edible plants. I would love for the author to write another book like this on medicinal & edible plants that are today's standard "weeds." This book does include some like dandelion & cleavers but there are some medicinal & edible plants like horseherb, hoary bowlesia, & Clasping venus' Looking glass that are not in any books but are today's standard "weed." Now this is all said before purchasing/reading her other books. Review: Forgotten Home Apothecary is an absolute treasure! - Forgotten Home Apothecary is an absolute treasure for anyone curious about natural remedies and holistic wellness. From the moment I opened it, I was captivated by the depth and clarity of the content. Each remedy feels carefully researched yet approachable, making it easy to understand and apply even for someone like me who is new to herbal and home-based medicine. The book strikes a perfect balance between historical wisdom and practical guidance, giving me confidence that I am learning techniques that have been trusted for generations. The organization is fantastic. Remedies are easy to find, clearly categorized, and include explanations of benefits, preparation tips, and suggested uses. I love that it covers everything from common ailments like headaches and colds to more specialized wellness practices. The instructions are detailed yet not overwhelming, which makes trying out new remedies exciting rather than intimidating. I feel empowered to take charge of my health in ways that feel natural and sustainable. What really sets this book apart is the personal touch. The author’s voice comes through as knowledgeable and encouraging, making every section feel like guidance from a trusted mentor rather than a clinical manual. I also appreciate the emphasis on accessibility; most remedies use ingredients that are easy to find at home or at a local market, so implementing them does not feel daunting. Overall, Forgotten Home Apothecary is a must-have for anyone interested in herbalism, self-care, or natural wellness. It is comprehensive, inspiring, and practical all at once. Since adding it to my collection, I find myself referring to it constantly and experimenting with new remedies that truly make a difference. This book has transformed my approach to health and well-being and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

A MUST HAVE IN YOUR HOME!!!!
I wanted to reconnect with natural healing something more grounded and traditional. I was drawn to the idea of having 250 remedies right at my fingertips, and the title alone felt like rediscovering forgotten wisdom. I give this book a 10 out of 10. Beautifully written, clear, and full of practical remedies that actually work. Very clear and practical. I loved that the instructions were simple enough to follow at home, yet backed by deep herbal knowledge. These sections felt especially relevant to my lifestyle and easy to integrate daily. Most ingredients were easy to find, especially at local markets or online. A few were new to me, but that added to the excitement of learning. I’ve started making herbal teas for stress relief and simple salves for minor cuts and skin issues. It’s helped me feel more self-sufficient and intentional about what I use in my body. The honey-garlic immune tonic it’s simple but powerful. It reminded me that natural medicine doesn’t have to be complicated to be effective. My immune system feels stronger, and I’ve noticed fewer seasonal allergy symptoms. Emotionally, the ritual of preparing remedies feels grounding and calming. More focus on seasonal wellness like remedies for spring detox, summer cooling, fall immunity, and winter warmth. Also, maybe more visuals for identifying herbs. Excellent clean, rustic, and visually inviting. The tone feels warm and timeless. It’s the kind of book you want to keep open on your kitchen counter. The physical book has an old-world charm, but a digital version with short videos or printable labels could be a great supplement. I hope this helps someone when deciding if this is a good effect and informative book to have. I highly recommend it

Truly Worth Owning!
I ordered this for my young adult college student granddaughter who has her own chronic health challenges, which contributed her to developing an interest in naturopathy. She expressed her appreciation for the courage and professional stamina of the author, how the book is organized, how informative it is and how effectively the visuals are depicted. After opening and scanning the pages, she told me it’s her new favorite book. I noticed that she’s already shared it with some of her friends. That’s paying a high compliment to the author.

An Absolute Must-Have: Reclaiming Ancestral Health with Forgotten Home Apothecary
★★★★★ A Cornerstone for the Modern Homesteader and Naturalist Forgotten Home Apothecary: 250 Powerful Remedies at Your Fingertips, authored by expert herbalist Dr. Nicole Apelian, is far more than a simple recipe book—it is a beautifully organized, comprehensive, and essential guide for anyone looking to reclaim the time-tested wisdom of traditional herbal healing. This volume successfully bridges the gap between historical folk remedies and modern, practical application. Design and Utility The layout of this book is nothing short of brilliant. The most striking feature is the "new Apothecary" section at the beginning, where all 250 remedies are organized visually on "shelves" by specific ailment (e.g., Respiratory Shelf, Digestive Shelf). This ingenious, easy-to-navigate system allows you to skip the tedious index hunting and instantly find a targeted remedy. Each recipe page then delivers on its promise: clear, step-by-step instructions, accurate measurements, dosages, and vibrant, full-color photos. This level of clarity makes it accessible for a complete novice while still being a valuable reference for the seasoned plant medicine user. Content and Value The book shines by featuring powerful, yet often overlooked, traditional formulas—the very remedies our grandparents relied on before the local apothecary was replaced by the modern pharmacy. From potent mushroom tinctures for deep wellness to "Grandma's Hot Back Remedy," the scope is comprehensive, covering natural solutions for nearly every part of the body. If you are seeking to become more self-sufficient in your family's daily wellness or connect with the lost knowledge of ancestral healing, this book is an empowering and resourceful guide. A Minor Note on Editing While the book is overwhelmingly well-edited and the content is invaluable, readers focused on absolute precision may notice a few minor proofreading slips, such as the occasional misspelling of a word like "allergy" (appearing as "alergy"). These small details do not detract from the core informational value or usability of the remedies but are simply minor production notes worth mentioning for a complete review. Forgotten Home Apothecary deserves a permanent, well-used spot on your shelf. It is a true cornerstone for building your own vibrant home apothecary. Highly recommended!

A Fascinating Book Full of Traditional Remedies
I really enjoyed going through this book. It has a lot of interesting information and covers a wide variety of traditional home and herbal remedies. I especially like how the book is organized, because it makes it easier to find information without having to read the entire book from beginning to end. The photos and step-by-step instructions are a nice touch, and the recipes are presented in a way that is easy to understand. There is a lot to explore, so I can see myself keeping this book around as a reference and going back to different sections when I’m curious about a particular remedy. Overall, this is a very interesting and well-presented book for anyone who enjoys learning about traditional remedies and natural ingredients. It would also make a nice addition to a home library.

A Practical and Beautifully Compiled Natural Remedy Guide

The book is well-organized, clearly written, and packed with practical, easy-to-follow remedies using ingredients that are often already in your kitchen or garden. What sets this book apart is its combination of ancestral wisdom and modern practicality.
