AUTO-VOX Solar Wireless Backup Camera: 5" 1080P Monitor, 2 Min Easy Install

I wasn’t too sure about this after I purchased it. I seem to have some problem, pairing it. As it turned out, the battery wasn’t fully charged. And after charging it overnight and following the instructions, it worked flawlessly. It was easy to install. The screen is small light and produces a quality picture. It stays on for 90 seconds after you start your vehicle. Plenty of time to back out of a parking place. After I installed it, I made sure that I checked the distance for each of the lines that are depicted on the screen the green, the yellow and the red so I had an idea of how far I was from objects. This is really a good product. We’ll see how long it lasts.

A few years ago, I bought an Autovox Solar 1 backup system for my Camry. I went with solar because I wanted easy installation. I was not disappointed. At that time, I lived in an area where it rarely rained. The backup system worked perfectly. Since that time, I moved to an area where it rains a lot, and the car was parked outside. A few months later, the battery was not holding charge. I contacted Autovox. Even though the warranty had expired quite a while ago, customer service representative (Gigi) sent me a new camera panel at a deeply discounted price. After some months, the battery on this camera seems not to hold charge. I say seems because, the charging seems inconsistent, sometimes holding charge and sometimes not. When I contacted Autovox, Gigi, (one of the two best customer service people that I ever encountered), recommended that I consider this system with a 5000mAh battery. I purchased the system. Once the system arrived, I charged the battery and as expected, installation was a snap. This is definitely an upgrade from my original system. The battery charger and the activation button are on the sides instead of at the bottom of the solar panel, which is more convenient. The monitor at 1080P gives a very crisp picture. The quality of the picture even in low light is good. The antenna is inside the monitor. It was a short stub on the previous system. This system also came with a monitor holder. The monitor cable is long enough that it could be routed to any convenient location. The monitor connector that plugs into the lighter has a USB charging port, very useful feature for charging the phone. (Solar 1 did not have that feature). The 5000mAh battery is nice. The camera comes alive when the car starts. The camera can also be activated by pushing the button on the plugin connector. a feature that I like. (Solar 1 also had this feature). The menu makes setup easy. I have not tested the dual camera feature yet. I am parking the car in the garage and will know in a year how the battery on this system holds up. I am happy that I bought this system. Big part of the reason to stick with Autovox is that they stand behind their product.

I have now had this backup camera for 10 months. The camera/monitor work great and definitely make backing up much safer. For the first 8 months, I never had to manually charge the camera battery -- solar charging did it all on its own, even during the cold, dark winter months. Now, this summer, I have had to manually charge the battery twice, even though I leave the car outside with the camera/solar panel facing the sun (south) for full days at a time. Maybe the heat drains the battery. Having to manually recharge the camera battery is a nuisance, but the system still works fine otherwise. Wish I could give it five stars.

I purchased the AUTO-VOX Solar Wireless Backup Camera with the 5-inch 1080P monitor, and overall I was very impressed with the product when it was working. Installation was incredibly easy and truly took only a couple of minutes. The camera quality was excellent, with a clear and sharp image both during the day and at night. The wireless connection worked well, and the solar charging feature was very convenient. It is a great setup for trucks, trailers, and SUVs, and I was initially very satisfied with my purchase. Unfortunately, after about three months of use, the monitor developed a strong burnt smell and stopped working completely. It smelled like an internal electronic component had burned out. This was very disappointing, especially considering the price of the system. If the monitor had continued to work, I would have easily given this product 5 stars because the camera performance and ease of installation were outstanding. However, due to the monitor failure after only a few months, I have lowered my rating to 3 stars. This is a very good camera system, but I am concerned about the long-term reliability of the monitor. I would love to replace it, but I am hesitant to spend that much money again if the same issue could happen.

I purchased this camera because my factory installed camera quit working and I like this much better. The installation was a snap, even for an arthritic, elderly woman. I installed it on the bottom of the plate since the top blocked part of the plate, and the bottom view was preferred. The monitor screen (7'2) is very clear, provides the necessary lines for parking and gives a wide angle view. I wish there were a way to keep the monitor active longer, but it is easy to reactivate it if needed. It has been very overcast here and after 6 weeks, it showed the charge was down just a bar. I recharged it anyway to make sure that was working it was charged completely when I checked it just an hour later. Since I have one of those cars where the hood "vanishes" from the driver's seat, I wish I had ordered the dual cameras. I have ordered a second camera to put in the front so I can see how close I am. I had a little trouble finding it on Amazon, but I contacted the seller and after some confusion, they are sending it to me. I can hardly wait to receive it. I understand the dual system comes pre-paired, but this will not. Fingers crossed that it comes quickly and pairs as easily as it installs. Fingers crossed. UPDATE: New camera arrived and installed in a flash. WORTH NOTING: The new camera was set as a rear view and I needed it switched for the front view. I had a little trouble doing that because the instructions are not very detailed. But the support at the vendor was very helpful and I was eventually able to switch it so it works correctly. Also, if you have questions on a purchase or need support, be patient with the human support which is most likely not in your time zone. Email is the best communication, but every response is next day if you are US based. My original frustration was due to confusion with the CHAT AI - once I communicated directly to the seller, things went well and promises were honored. I also learned that the monitor can be set to stay on whenever the monitor is plugged in. It does drain the battery on the camera faster, but you can set it to record continually while the monitor is on. After the change, my cameras held a charge with continuous recording for several weeks. And it charges again very quickly. I highly recommend this product and this company.

I did some research and Auto-Vox backup cameras came out on top. The camera was well packaged and every bit as easy to install and get working as described. I wasn't sure if I wanted the 5" camera or the 7" camera and decided the 7" camera was worth the extra cost, which wasn't much. It has the capability to record video which is a plus and lets it also function as a rear dashcam in the 'always on' mode. The picture on the camera is crisp and clear and the color is rich, and the picture is easy to use when backing up. It also has an excellent night-vision picture. I also really like the fact that it is wireless and solar powered. That saved me from a great deal of trouble wiring it up. I know from what my mechanic told me that wiring something in the back of my car, like the collision detection feature of my rear dash cam, would be very labor intensive because of having to completely remove the rear light assembly and work around a lot of obstructions to get something wired up correctly. Being solar powered saved me from all that trouble and time and in only about 5-6 minutes I had the camera and monitor set up and it was working. I've had it about a week so far and have had no trouble with the camera or the monitor. I did an initial charging of the battery and the sun charges the camera battery just like it should so I don't have to worry about battery power for the camera. It connects with the monitor with no trouble at all and there have never been any glitches the monitor picture. There are a lot of other choices in backup cameras but Auto-Vox is one of the best if not the best. I am completely satisfied with my purchase and I highly recommend backup cameras from Auto-Vox. Also, I had a question about something and a customer service rep, Gigi, was extremely helpful. Auto-Vox has great customer service and obviously cares about its customers. Thank you, Auto-Vox!

I had a backup camera from AUTO-VOX prior to this one. The rechargeable battery finally died and I had to replace the camera. I really liked the first one I had purchased so I got this one and I am very happy with it. They have improved it significantly. The video is so clear I love it and as with the first one I had was super easy to install.. The original that I had was very nice but I am super impressed with the improvements they have made in it. Thank you. It is so very much worth the money.

I have a work car with horrible visibility out of the back window, no backup camera. After a little research and reading some reviews i bought this one, and wanted to share my thoughts on it. First, the camera mount. Its horrible. None of the cutouts match the US plate hole pattern. I got it mounted with a little bit of engineering. (And i wanted it sit as high as possible not to obstruct any portion of the license plate). The monitor. In no way, shape or form its 1080 HD. Once you turn the display on, it takes a moment to display the picture. Not too long, a little annoying. I do understand wireless has its limitations. The mount that came with display is absolutely unusable, and i ended up using a GPS mount that I had. I also had trouble connecting the camera to the display. The manual said it pre-paired, so i tried pressing the camera power switch on a few times, and it worked. The distance between my car and an obstacle behind it is somewhat hard to judge, but thats every backup camera. This display has guide lines with different colors to show the distance. I didn’t really see if they are accurate. A lot of reviews described lag, which I didn’t experience, it was relatively smooth while reversing. The “4 claw” mount on the back doesn’t match any of the mounts ive seen. Many other reviews said the battery stopped working 6 months to a year from installation. I feel like this is a good amount of money i paid for it to stop working that soon, so if that happens, ill come back to update the review. Overall, it works. I drive in NYC a lot, and with horrible visibility out of the back, and not able to run wires, this is one of the better options UPDATE: less than a week later, i was trying to back up and it was lagging really bad. It was completely unusable. It started working fine a little while later, but it proved to be unreliable UPDATE: the seller read my review and sent me another camera, along with a few installation pointers. I installed and paired the new camera, so far no lagging issues, hopefully it doesn’t show up later like the old one

L'installation est très facile à réaliser et ne nécessite pas de compétences technique . Au choix le moniteur peut se placer sur la planche de bord ou sur le pare brise . L'appairage entre les deux appareils est automatique est permet même l'installation d'une deuxième caméra si on le souhaite . L'enregistrement est un bonus supplémentaire . Un ensemble parfait qui tient ses promesses .

Ich hatte lange gezögert das Teil zu installieren, aber die Montage ging an meinem Golf Sportsvan sehr einfach: Es reicht, das Nummernschild abzunehmen (siehe Youtube für Anleitungen dazu) und mittels des Klebestreifen oben hinter dem Halter zu stecken. Der Kofferraum passte genau darüber, sodass die Kamera zwischen Nummernschild und Kofferraumdeckel quasi eingeklemmt ist und nicht auskann. Trotzdem kann man die Kamera noch drehen! Den kleinen Bildschirm auf das Armatourenbrett geklebt, das Kabel in den Zigarettenanzünder - schon war das Bild da! Kein Ärger mit Pairing oder Einstellungen. Man kann zwar einiges verändern, aber mit den Werkseinstellungen funktionierte es auf Anhieb. Das Ausschalten des Bildschirms passiert auch automatisch, nach einer einstellbaren Zeit. Beim Losfahren wird durch Einschalten der Zündung Monitor und Kamera aktiviert, und wenn man es am Ziel braucht, ein kurzer Druck auf die seitliche Taste des Monitors genügt. Der Monitor ist auch bei grellem Sommerlicht sehr gut ablesbar und ohne Ruckeln und ohne Verzögerung. Ich habe es angeschafft, damit ich mit einem montierten Fahrradträger noch rückwärts einparken kann, das klappt super, wenn ich die Kamera etwas nach unten neige. Dann passt die gelbe Markierung im Bild gut mit dem Ende des Trägers überein. Das Einparken geht jetzt stressfrei. Nur wenn noch Räder auf dem Träger sind, dann wird es etwas unübersichtlich. Alles in allem ein sehr gut durchdachtes Produkt, klare Kaufempfehlung!

The Auto Vox Solar Back Up camera is the second I have owned. This one also can be easily installed and doesn’t require any permanent wiring. I simply attached the camera with solar battery recharging unit to my license plate and plugged the monitor into the lighter plug in. Like my first one the image is sharp and reliable. I like that the newer model has a switch on the plug in to turn the camera on if I want to do it manually. Overall the battery life is good. In the winter months I have to self charge it on occasion due to lack of natural sunlight. In the summer it is no problem. I have found the manual helpful and I keep it in my glove compartment for easy access. It is an essential product for those of us with older vehicles without build in units. I have a blind spot backing out of my driveway and this really helps. Overall I think my Auto Vox solar back up camera was a good purchase and I would recommend it.
