Is this similar to drinking a can of Monster etc?, would you still get an energy rush?

no not at all, different ingredients, but will help when doing exercise.

Is this 'caffeine hit' like the photo, or 'xtreme' like the description? and what's the best before date? thanks

This one doesn't have caffeine in it, I use a gel for that hit.
