Verbatim CD-R 700MB 52X UltraLife Gold Archival Grade - Branded Surface & Hard Coat - 50pk Spindle

Gold is the way to go, if you value your portfolio. The cloud could become inaccessible any time, and even the most professionally vetted hard drives eventually crash, but a working professional CD player/burner and these DVDs can preserve your archive for many years. My personal experience only extends to 20 years, but that's a lot with writable, portable media. Don't buy a burner for less than $125. Look among the equipment that video and sound studios are buying.

I did some research archive disc are supposed to last anywhere from 50 to 75 years great for tax records as far as do they hold the information for 50 to 75 years well talk to me then but as far as that goes work perfect held the information just fine

Good quality blank CDs. I use them to burn music CDs to listen to my favorite music in my car in high fidelity that you can't get from radio or cassette. The plain unlabeled surface lets me write on the label side of the disk without writing over other stuff. If you really want something to last for a really loooooong time, you need M-discs (and a special CD drive that can burn them), but these are still better quality and longer lasting than standard blank CDs.

I had been looking for this kind of Verbatim CD-R for some years since I saw a spindle on eBay many years ago. However, I chanced upon this spindle of UltraLife CD-Rs just this year. I promptly bought a pack and started using it for valuable recordings. The CD-Rs are shiny gold discs fit for treasured recordings or data. They remind you of gold disc awards when a music release sells 500,000 copies. After recording on a few of these discs, they record effectively and play well on any audio CD machine. Whether they last well is another matter. There are some improvements I would have liked Verbatim to make for these discs. Firstly, I would have liked it if the discs were customisable. The label surfaces are plain gold and have no protective coating. If you want to label your discs, you might have to write with a marker and deface the beautiful shiny gold surface. It would be good if Verbatim could consider making this UltraLife CD-R with a printable label surface and a metallised hub. This will make the discs look like the professional CD-Rs. Also, I am a bit worried about the durability of the product. The recording dye might be the usual cyanine dye on the typical CD-R. I know that you can never tell how well a burn lasts, but I am worried the dye may not be worthy of the product quality. Also, the polycarbonate plastic that is used for these discs is soft like most commercial CD-Rs. For a premium-grade CD-R like this, the plastic needs to be thicker and stiffer. Verbatim already has MediDisc CD-Rs with thick, stiff plastic. If you're paying more for these CD-Rs, the product quality needs to be higher than the more everyday discs. These improvements are only small things and I hope Verbatim can consider them as options for people who want to buy the UltraLife CD-Rs in the future. In general, I am satisfied with the burns I've done so far on these discs. They still record well on my burners and sound god on my players. I am hoping that Verbatim could add a little more to this product so it can feel more durable and assure customers their burns will last on these discs.

I've used a lot of cheap blanks in my day. I remember first stumbling upon Maxell XLII's cassettes and remembering how great they were with music...quality you could hear, back then. With digital, I didn't give a lot of thought to the blanks...I thought "digital is forever". Well, yes and no. Hard drives crash. The cloud is still, well, the cloud. How many different media services have you seen start up like gangbusters and go under? So, I always would burn optical backups of programs, documents and pics. Now, in reviewing some of my older stuff, it's clear, that the cheaper blanks I used haven't held up well. It's not like I leave them in a car, or anything, but, even then, some data would be undreadable...some audio-cd's would de-laminate. There is some thought that the "gold" layer on these won't suffer those same problems. So, while I will have to wait 10 years to truly judge, I can say that Verbatims I've burned in the past, have held up well...their dye is quite good. The no-name generics, well, they've struggled. So, it stands to reason that Verbatim's top of the line "gold" standard would do just as well if not better than prior Verbatims. And while I can re-rip music, my personal documents and photos would be impossible to replace. I no longer have "film" backups to go back to for my pictures, hence my interest in archival quality media. If I want to trust my data for life, I am sure to keep it in different formats and on different media...anything important, I burn to these archival gold...as some memories, can't be recreated.

I purchsed these in october to make copies of some very important cds that i hade in my collection. I had some extra recordable cds left over, so In the winter of 2018, i decided to do an experiment with these cds (verbatim cd-r 700mb 52x ultra life gold archival grade cds with branded surface and hard coat) and i also had copied some extra dvds onto verbatim m disk dvd r 4.7 gb 4x with branded surface and i put both the cds and the dvds outside all winter long. Exposed completely to the elements of nature from the day before winter officially started to the day after winter officially ended ( i live on the east coast where at one point during the night the temperature was at -10 degrees beliw zero) the day after winter ended i brung both the extra verbatim archival grade cd and the extra verbatim m disk dvd back inside my house. I let them both dry out for three days. After three days of dring out, they still work excellent as though the experiment never took place!!!! Again I'm EXTREMELY PLEASED with your product. This summer i plan on testing the same cd and dvd by placing them outsude all summer long. I'll give you my report and results later this year(2019) at the end of summer

I believe that Verbatim makes the highest quality discs out of any manufacturer, I have least amount of issues with burning their discs. My previous computer's (an iMac G5) disc burner got very picky about which discs it would burn without error. The only two brands which it was able to burn near the end of its life were Apple-branded discs and Verbatim discs. I bought these discs for a client who wanted to preserve her father's life story (she had me transfer them from a cassette tape). I don't know if they will stand the test of time, but if they're anything like Verbatim's other discs, I have no doubts.

I bought a 5 pack of these discs (the individually boxed ones in jewel cases) and they were extremely high quality, so I decided to buy the 50 spindle. The spindle came damaged. All 4 tabs were broken off, the top 3 discs (and a few other random ones I checked deeper in the spindle) had visible surface blemishes in the hard coat layer which caused a massive spike of thousands of C1 errors on the burn I tried. By comparison the discs in the 5 pack had 150-200 C1 errors total for the entire burn and were fantastic quality. The burn quality was worse than the $20/50 spindle of ultralife+ discs I bought at 1/5th the cost. I think they must be cherry picking the best discs off the line and diverting them to the 5 packs and throwing the rest of the sub par discs into these spindles. Either that or i just got a really, really bad batch. Oh, also the 5 pack discs actually have a protective film layer on them with branding, these spindle discs are 100% blank on top so they are less protected. For discs intended for archival purposes I honestly expect MUCH higher quality than what was on display here. At $2/disc they should all be perfect and not have surface blemishes and other such things. I will be buying more of the 5 packs but I won't be buying these spindles again.

J ai du acheter 3 set comme celui ci pour pouvoir graver une jeu ( vous voyez , quand il y a une erreur de gravure , le CD est bon pour la poubelle ) trouver la vitesse de gravure idéal étais plutôt dur . Dans mon 3 set , il me reste 2 CD les autre on été dans la poubelle à cause de erreur de gravure pour gravure trop vite . La prochaine fois , je crois que je vais acheter des cd formidable
