Viair is top of the line as far as I’m concerned. It is well built and constructed with quality components. This is my second unit. I also have one for my RV. I tried this unit out today and I am dutifully impressed. The gauge is spot on accurate so no need to double check the pressure with a small handheld gauge. It seems to be quieter than my older unit and it is also smaller and lighter. This 400P Automatic is the way to go because it has a built-in PSI regulator that turns the unit off when it is not being used. Meaning it doesn’t run continuously when turned on. Big big upgrade from the regular 400P and I highly recommend this version. I think it is definitely worth the extra cost. This compressor is going to be kept in my Jeep for off-road adventures. Super happy with this upgrade.

Yes, this thing was made in China but what are we going to do, they all are. I have used this unit several times since I got it and it rides in my SUV everywhere. You can fill up truck tires and smaller items like bicycle tubes just fine. This model has auto shut off so you can use it by only squeezing the triggle, you don't have to keep turning the unit on and off. I like this because I can have the trigger part far away from the pump where the on off swicth is. The unit must be connect to a car battery to work. FYI> I contacted the company here in the USA and they said you "can't" make it run from a transformer if you want to rig it to work from a home recepticle. They also answered a number of other questions, were quick to reply to my email and seemed customer service oriented. I would recommend buying from this manufacturer. The unit seems of very good and solid quality. The hose disconnects from the trigger and from the pump so if you want to change the components out, you could. The triggle with the guage on it is quite nice and heavy and better than I thought it would be. The only complaints I have with it is, I wish I didn't have to have it attached to the car for operation. It would be great if I could plug it in to a wall receptical because it is so handy, quick and easy to use. I also have never been a fan of the type of valve that is used in this unit to attach it to a valve stem. There are only so many ways to do it but trying to hold the valve tightly enough on a stem while using a great deal of strength to flip the switch closed is something that has left me wanting since I was a kid trying to pump up my BMX tire. It works great, I just like the service station type valve better. Maybe it could be changed out later I guess. Overall good product, highly recommended.

I've already used this a few times and I love this thing. I have a full size compressor that I hated dragging out to put air in tires ( I bought the full size air compressor for nail guns and blowing out the pool lines). In the past few years I have bought less expensive mini air compressors for my tires and they have always been horrible, but they were also in the 50 dollar price range. Tires, especially in the winter need to be topped off and unfortunately my luck with nails in my tires has been horrible, ( I also travel with my own plug kit because of this) in the past year I've had to put a plug in both my wife and one of my tires. I keep it in my truck at all times and the piece of mind alone is worth it. Anyway to get to the point, I bought this one because of the quality, the standard quick connect fittings and most importantly, the trigger to start and stop the air on the fill side, meaning the air gun & gauge. This feature should be on all models if you ask me, yes it is worth it but missing from most travel compressors. So the quick rundown: it works really fast, it's not crazy loud, and the air hose reaches all the tires on my truck, so absolutely no complaints. The bag is sturdy and I see it lasting a long time, very easy to use and I hope it lasts forever. I love it. For anyone who cares, I also travel with a Noco boost, in case the battery should ever die on me, and I keep a quick connect attached to by battery at all times, so I don't have to use the alligator clips for the boost. (NOCO GBC009 Boost 18.5-Inch SAE Adapter Extension Cable For GB20/GB40/GB50 NOCO Boost UltraSafe Lithium Jump Starters) And then I bought an SAE cord, cut it , then I cut the cord to the alligator clip on the compressor and spliced in the SAE cord, also switched out the fuse to match the one on the compressor. So now when I need the compressor I just plug it into the quick connect instead of the alligator clips. I highly recommend this, especially if your battery, like mine ,is buried and you can't easily get to the terminals. - I am all about making life easier, especially if you are broken down on the side of the road.

Super great product. If you are a four Wheeler off roader then you need to buy this immediately if not sooner. Gets my tires aired back up fast after I've needed to lower down the PSI in each tire. Has the power and functionality to get to pumping quick! Just open the hood, hook it up and you're gonna have full tire pressure quick. Fully recommend this and it has worked great since I've owned it. Still going strong in the durability and design looks like it will keep it going strong for many years. I'll never be stuck with low tire pressure or a flat again and I run 35s on 18 inch rims. Highly highly recommend buying this. It stays with my truck as a critical item and the inflation rate is better than most gas station air pumps

It's working great for offroading. Pumps up my set of 33s from 20psi and 30psi to 45 and 55 respectively in roughly 10 mins. Seems well built, comes with everything you need and the bag is ok. Two things to be aware of; 1) the pressure garage doesn't give you a real time readout. You have to release the trigger and some times tap the air release button to get the true psi. 2) this thing gets extremely hot. I accidently burnt myself on the mosfet reaching over the pump for something and I now have 7 burn lines on my arm after a split second touch. It's my fault I know, but just be very careful around it. Knocked a star off purely for the temperature and risk.

I love this air compressor. The product I received is not exactly what was described. I contacted Viair, and found that I had received a newer model than described with the following differences: 1. The air hose is black, and an updated version. Very happy with this. 2. The gun is a 160psi gun, NOT 200psi. This change was made because 200psi is overkill for most people. I prefer the 160psi for my use, the dial is easier to read. I love it. I have a 2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. This is a perfect compressor for my needs. It is extremely easy to set up and light to carry. The air hose has more than enough length, I can get to my spare without any pulling or stretching. The compressor is quiet and quick. Using the release valve in the gun, I deflated a tire to 20psi (very quickly, great valve). I then inflated it to 36psi in less than a minute. The compressor worked beautifully. It will automatically shut off if the trigger on the gun is not depressed for a few seconds, and start again when the trigger is depressed. This compressor comes with the filter assembly ready to attach. It is easy to put on, contains a 2 part filter already, and has two spare filter sets in a separate bag. The bag is extremely nice! Very rugged, and well balanced. The compressor seems very secure in the bag, and the hose fits perfectly up front. There are two small side pockets, one with a flap and one with velcro. There is no separate pocket for the gun, though. I wish they had included this. I will find a pouch to protect the dial. As important as all of the above: Viair customer service is amazing! The rep I spoke with was very friendly and knew absolutely everything about the product. She answered all my questions quickly and was a joy to speak with. I definitely recommend this compressor.

Review for the 400P-Automatic This refills each 285/70-17 tire from 15psi to 30 psi in just under 2 minutes. When comparing this to the Harbor Freight pump, it's much less noisy, more reliable, has a higher flow rate, and the auto shutoff feature saves quite a bit of running back and forth. After having to drive home on nearly flat tires when my Harbor Freight pump's reed valves failed (very common), I sprung for a more reliable Viair pump with some better features. •The pressure gauge is accurate once the pump shuts off (3-5 seconds after releasing the lever) •The battery clamps open wider than my previous pump and have less tendency to pop off •The hose is easy to pack and unpack and is of a much higher quality than the others I've used. •The flow rate is more than adequate for 33" tires. Of course it could be faster, when my fingers are freezing off, but that's part of the fun of snow wheeling. •The storage bag is appealing and holding up well. I do wonder if the Smittybilt ~5cfm pump would have been better, with its lower cost and higher output, but I'm on the quality over quantity train now., after being hosed by other cheap products.

This is a great tool and works really well. Quickly increases tire pressure to what is required.
