Gel vs Silicone Sheets
Having used Dematix and ScarAway 'Silicone Sheets' for several months, I have found noticeable improvement in my small kelloid scars that were left by acne (and which at the age of 23, continues to be a problem without management). The main attraction to silicone treatment is that it's completely natural, because all the substance does is create a mini 'atmosphere' over the affected area which accelerates regeneration in the skin. It's pretty amazing what heat and moisture can do. However, the silicone sheets have only been affective up to a certain point, and now they just don't seem to have the same impact as the first month of treatment. This highlights what may be a flaw the sheets, as it's almost impossible to keep them flush with the skin surface once the kelloids lose a lot of their roundness. For myself, the hairs on my arms were actually pushing the sheets away from the skin, and for the affected areas on my back/shoulders, they would just peel and flop away with constant body movement. Using surgical tape to keep them in place is time consuming and plain annoying. The alternative to these sheets is the topical 'gel' that can be spread over the affected area, and provides the same method of treatment. This product costs almost twice as much as the sheets, but it is a far, far more practical solution by all accounts. You simply squeeze the gel out onto the affected, massage it in, and then wash away for another application about every 12 hours (or morning and night, if it's simpler). You only get 15 grams which is disappointing, although it is clearly advertised so I knew what to expect. The consolation however is that you only need teeny-tiny amounts, which makes a change from other products that tempt you to really lather the stuff in. One of the benefits of this product is that it's almost impossible to use too much, because if you use the right amount then it will dry and disappear in no longer than 2-minutes, whereas if you use too much, it just doesn't dry at all, so you can find your threshold from the first couple of applications. My kelloids range between 1 and 4cm in length, meaning I need only apply an amount that is no bigger than a grain of rice to each scar. Amazing! What are the results so far? I have notice more discolouration with this gel which is definitely an improvement over the sheets, and so these scars blend in with the surrounding skin a bit better. It's still early days yet, but I have also noticed a reduction in the size/depth of the kelloids - particularly those that were so hard to keep flush with the sheets. Because my scars have the annoying habit of being in awkward places and in 'clusters', I feel that I have actually benefited from using both the silicone sheet and gel products. It is clear that the sheets do their work very quickly on the initial treatment because the surface of the skin is newest, whereas as when the scars are reduced a bit more to a normal level, application is harder and the layers of skin are older. You'll also save money by simply using those sheets until they become ineffective, and then move onto the more efficient solution as I did. These are expensive products regardless of whether you buy from Dermatix of ScarAway, but the benefits from a psychological standpoint are something that no-one except yourself will ever understand.

Noticeable improvement in scar depth and colour
I purchased this product in an attempt to reduce the severity of my daughter's chickenpox scars - she had been left with rather deep and dark scars on her body and face. Although I know it’s not the end of the world to have a few chickenpox scars, the fact that she had approximately 70 scars – 23 of those being on her face, I wanted to find a product that might help to diminish them as much as possible. I decided to start a routine of applying most mornings before school (sometimes there’s no time), but religiously every night with story time before bed. This also meant that it has become something that we just do and don’t keep checking for its effectiveness. The clear gel like substance is easy to use and apply, and you only need a tiny amount so the small tube lasts for ages. I gently dab a pinhead amount on each scar, directly via the nozzle (which you cut to open) and leave it to disperse itself within the scar rather than spread with your finger. We began applying it in July, and the effectiveness was initially noticed this September in a photograph we happened to have taken whilst on holiday back in July (which was just after the end of the ‘pox). In just two months the dusky pink colour of the scars has been reduced to perhaps a couple shades darker than her actual fair Caucasian skin tone. Two, originally 3mm deep scars on her cheek are now approx. 1mm and approx. six other scars on her face have actually disappeared. All, are dramatically reduced. I have not made a big deal of this to her, but inwardly I am very pleased that this gel has had such a marked result on the scars and will continue to use it for the next couple of months.

Very good, but not a miracle cure!
I wanted to wait a couple of months before writing this so that I could give a complete review about the state of my scar. First of all, taking off 1 star for a slow delivery. Ordered on Thursday morning, and didn't arrive until the following Thursday. Not good enough there I'm afraid. And now onto the scar! I'd been the victim of an assault that created a gash accross my eyebrow. The nurse at Kingston A&E did a terrible job of glueing it back together (it probably needed stitches to be honest but who am I to argue?), with some of the cut left quite wide, and some "pinched" accross the skin. It left a very unsightly looking situation. I heard good things about this Dermatix from the Pharmacist in Boots. They wouldn't sell it without prescription, so I decided to give it a stab on Amazon. And I'm very glad I did ! The scabs had peeled off, but the skin was still very red (and deep) in some places when I started applying the gel. As others have mentioned, The 15 gram bottle is miniscule, but you don't need to lather the stuff on. Just a pea-sized amount massaged in. Within days I had noticed a vast improvement in the depth of the scar. I didn't notice a great reduction in the redness/colouring though. It was definitely fading, but I'm pretty sure that's not down to the gel, more a case of time healing the wound. But after a month of use, I noticed the effectiveness has now dropped. There's still redness and a very slight indentation, and this has been the case for weeks now. I would propose that this stuff is very good on rejuvinating new skin cells, but perhaps not so great once the skin is mature (I can't think of a better word than "mature" !). I've also been applying the gel to some very old acne scars, and noticed no difference whatsoever, so this backs up my theory somewhat. So there you go. In a nutshell, I would consider using this stuff early on in the healing process to level out any deep indentations and reduce the redness a bit, but probably not use it for more than a month (ie a tubes worth).

Effective silicone Gel for Scar reduction
I have been using it following excision surgery on my cheek that left a c10cm scar. It had self-dissolve stitching. I was advised by the surgeon not to start using the gel until 6 weeks after surgery and followed those instructions. 4 months after surgery now and the scar is almost unnoticeable. I was advised that the scar could take up to two years to resolve but I doubt that I will need to continue that long. The 15g tube of gel is small but you only need a tiny amount of gel twice a day, which massages into my skin fast. No strong smell, easy to apply. My tube, made in Turkey, came with a leaflet in English. Not cheap but it is doing the job well.

As recommended by the manufacturers
Unfortunately I gave myself severe second degree burns to about 70% of my outer thigh. The injuiry was so severe that I almost required skin graft after the skin became infected, however thankfully my skin started to heal naturally and the graft was not required. After the infection cleared and my skin started rebuilding itself, my leg had suffered deep scar wounds to the surface. As recommended by the manufacturers, I immediately started using dermatix at the premature stages of scarring, literally about 6-8 weeks post accident. I have have been using the gel twice a day (morning and evening) every day for approximately 6 months, my skin has been healing really well, and the scarring is much lighter than I had expected. My friends commented that my skin didn't even look like it was scarred and it looks more like a birth mark. The dermatix gel is very expensive, however you can't put a price on your health, the product is brilliant and delivers on it's promise, unlike a lot of other expensive products out there. Moreover, the use of the dermatix gel has mean't that I have not developed any complications such as keloid or hypertrophic scarring which was a big concern for me. All in all, a great product, however you must be committed to using it for the length of time recommended for good results. It really does work!

dermatix
if you want an honest review from someone who has actually been burdened with what was once a horrific hypertrophic scar the here it is .after trying treatment after treatment i had started to settle with the hard reality that this scar would never go away and would always be here but then i came accross dermatix after hours of research and for me my scar was on my upper back it was large and very raised to the point where i was visible through shirts and obviously with all this in mind i was initially pessimistic going into this treatment and to be honest after using this cream twice a day for a month i myself didnt see any initial result but after two months the scar had almost completely flattened and had if this is even possible gotten thinner and this is the gods honest truth this cream has been a complete revelation and the best thing about this cream is that the longer you use it for the more you scar fades away .but there is a secret to using dermatix and i am going to reveal it to you one of the main reasons that you may have seen bad reviews about dermatix it isnt down to the product but in actual fact it is the way these people are applying it to their scar here is what unfortunately dermatix fail to tell you is you should apply twice a day but that isnt just it .you must have a shower before applying dermatix while in the shower make sure to wash scar with warm water and the apply shower gel or soap to the scars and the wash off with warm water so wash twice once you have finished your shower make sure to dry scar extensively with a clean towel once to have dried the scar the wash your own hands then dry them with a clean towel once you have done this get the dermatix gel and apply a small amount to you finger tips and start to rub scar in a circular motion for 30 seconds then start to apply pressure to scar pressing down on it this will help flatten the scar do this along with rubbing in cirular motion for three minutes.once you have done this leave you scar for 15 minutes dont put on any clothing over it just leave it to dry and after 15 minutes you can do what you want and after two months of treatment dont apply dermatix for 2 days and you will then see the results then once you have seen the scars results of the dry scars begin to reapply dermatix untill you are satisfied with your results and remember do not apply dermatix to open wound and if you have any questions about dermatix or need help just send me a message and il be happy to answer you questions

highly recommended!
When looking at treatments on line, I normally hold a healthy scepticism, but yet stay open minded so I don't miss out on any great products. I originally went to my doctors with a small keloid type of scar on my body. The doctor said there was nothing he could give me for it and to forget the injection treatments I may of heard of. Fair enough. However, I was not deterred, so I came on the internet looking for my own solution to the problem as his answer wasn't really good enough and I had a hunch that more could be done. I kept seeing how many great reviews this particular gel has and I thought I would give it a shot as I really had nothing to lose! My expectations were not too high but I had my fingers crossed because of the other good reviews. I've been amazed at how well this gel as worked for me as is everyone else who has seen my scar now compared to what it was. It's honestly gone from a raised, deep red angry lump into a subtle pink/natural flesh coloured scar-type blemish on the skin. It has been around 5 weeks since I started using it and I'm still using everyday and seeing more results, so it may get even better! I am extremely impressed with this. All reviews will be subjective but I can only report on the great success I have had using this product. It's really done it's job.
