How long do the batteries last?

This is the disappointing aspect - they last only a few weeks. The paperwork in the box suggests they should last over a year. We use top-notch Duracell batteries and, used in a church, the Dorgards are in operation for only maybe 5 hours a week. The batteries are reported dead after about 12 weeks. This is not the whole story, though. Using a voltmeter, it is clear that the Dorgard needs the peak of the voltage to operate, so there is buckets of juice still in the batteries when the Dorgard rejects them as exhausted. (Thus rechargeable cells, operating at a peak of 1.2v, would be useless here) Transferred to, say, a radio or torch, the batteries will soldier on for months!
