Perfect Cool Relief
I am impressed with the Galinand Cold Therapy Machine! I recently had my right knee replaced (full replacement). As you can imagine, the post-op and physical therapy procedures place a lot of demands on the new knee. The cold therapy helps this process immensely. It not only provides instant relief to the inflamed joint, but is bringing down the post-surgery swelling. Setup was easy and, with frozen water bottles, it delivers blessed soothing cool relief where it is needed. Also, it is very reasonably priced. I highly recommend this product.

Great for overnight and 8+ hours of use
This review includes the ICY THRP Cold Therapy Machine, the NEHOO WC-1 Cold Therapy System, the NEHOO WC-2 Cold Therapy System, and the GALINAND Cold Therapy Machine, comparing them to the Breg Polar Care Cube. Iโm a reasonably fit person, without mobility or strength issues, that had total right knee replacement surgery at age 59 in March 2025. The surgeon recommended buying a Breg Polar Care Cube, and a friend loaned me theirs with the WrapOn Pad (XL Knee), which I used almost continuously for 3 weeks, whenever motionless for the next 3, and regularly afterward. I left the machine running while I slept, replenishing the ice when I was awakened after 6 hours to take medication. Although I wore a thin compression stocking to protect my skin while sleeping, I found that it wasnโt needed โ the temperature was not so cold that it was damaging my skin, and that proved to be true for all that machines that I tested. I continued to use it for about 12 weeks before investigating the purchase of my own, comparing it to other machines available via Amazon. Iโm planning another total knee replacement for later this year, and am particularly focused on ice longevity while sleeping. The Breg Polar Care Cube is simple: it has one water flow speed (seems to be equivalent to โlowโ on other machines) and no timers. Plug it in and itโs on โ unplug it when youโre done or want a break. The container is opaque and must be opened to check ice. The motor is mounted to the center of the cover, and the container is tall enough to accommodate 4 upright 16.9oz frozen bottles of water. The hoses are wrapped in insulating foam to help maintain cold water temperature. The ice would completely melt after about 5 hours. The ICY THRP Cold Therapy Machine provides 3 water flow speeds, an โonโ timer, and an โoffโ timer. The container is transparent, making it easy to check ice. The motor is mounted to the cover but along one side, and the container can only accommodate 3 16.9oz bottles on their sides โ 11-13oz bottles would work better. The hoses are wrapped in insulating foam. The ice was almost melted after 3 hours, using either high or low water flow speeds, and the temperature indicator never dropped below 45 degrees Fahrenheit. The NEHOO WLC-1 Cold Therapy System provides 3 water flow speeds, an โonโ timer, and an โoffโ timer. The container is opaque and must be opened to check ice. The NEHOO WLC-02 Cold Therapy System provides 3 water flow speeds, an โonโ timer, an โoffโ timer, and a remote control. The container is transparent, making it easy to check ice. The motor is mounted to the cover but along one side, and the container can accommodate 4 16.9oz bottles on their sides โ 11-13oz bottles would work better. The hoses are wrapped in insulating foam. The ice was almost melted after 4 hours, using either high or low water flow speeds, and the temperature indicator never dropped below 45 degrees Fahrenheit. The GALINAND Cold Therapy Machine provides 3 water flow speeds, an โonโ timer, and an โoffโ timer. The container is opaque and must be opened to check ice. The motor is freestanding and sits in the bottom of the container, and the container is large enough to accommodate 7 16.9oz bottles upright. The hoses are wrapped in a nylon sleeve and not in insulating foam. At low speed and using 4 bottles, the ice was almost melted after 4 hours โ using 7 bottles, the ice was almost melted at 9 hours. It has no temperature indicator. Given the above results, itโs clear that the GALINAND Cold Therapy Machine can achieve the longest period of ice longevity, in part because it can accommodate more bottles than the others. Itโs the only soft-sided machine I tested, and that could be an advantage if wanting to use it while traveling. The knee pad includes thin, integrated straps, similar to the Breg, which the others have wide, detached straps โ I found this to be an advantage as well. In the end, Iโve selected the GALINAND Cold Therapy Machine for my needs.

I was skeptical due to price point...
I was skeptical due to price point... but I'm now VERY impressed! I've had ten surgeries in the last 3ยฝ years, and have used cold therapy for each one. My body responds extremely well with ONLY ice therapy, and Aleeve (Naproxen) for pain. When I was covered by Workman's Compensation, they always covered the rent on the machine. Now I'm on Medicare, and I'm told they do not cover ice therapy. Knowing how much success I have with cold therapy, I decided to search Amazon to attempt to find a suitable unit. I looked at several units, and the prices varied widely. I'm of the thought that a more expensive unit suggests it's likely a better unit. I was WRONG!!! This unit was pretty affordable at roughly $80. That's about $100 less expensive than the majority of the units I was browsing. This unit arrived fairly quickly, and I was eager to determine if it would work for my upcoming surgery. One thing that concerned me on arrival, was the size of the box on my porch! I'm used to the models that use an Igloo 6-pack cooler to hold the ice & water. The shipping box was about half to โ of the size I was expecting. My first thought was "Crap, this is Temu junk!" I opened the box, and realized the bucket that holds the ice & water was folded several times, and made from waterproof PVC/Vinyl, and actually appeared well made. The bucket actually holds a generous amount! The silicone wrap that will easily work for a knee or shoulder has generous Velcro straps, and looks to be of HIGH QUALITY, as does the pump assembly and controller. The lightweight cover on the dual cooling hoses works well, but is the only hint this isn't a higher priced rental duty unit. I read in the reviews a couple of people claimed the hoses leaked at the connectors. Since they are O-ring sealed, I simply spit on the O-rings for some lubrication before connecting. Both ends of the hoses I did this old mechanic trick to, and everything slid together, and locked into place LEAK-FREE! I'm now on my recliner with my knee elevated, and using this cold therapy machine. I have one of those $100 tabletop ice-makers sitting next to it, so I can recycle the water from the cold therapy bucket, by pouring it right back into the ice-maker. Since the ice-water isn't contaminated, this is an easy solution for me. I'm really enjoying how QUIET this cold therapy unit is, and how easy the controller works! I'm still a bit rummy from anesthesia, but I'm so friggin' impressed with this unit, I wanted to write about how GREAT this is working for me. Time will tell how long this unit lasts, but even if it only lasts for this one surgery, I'd still buy another! ๐ PS, I had another brand unit a few years ago that was mine. I let a friend's mother borrow it, and it was 6 or 7 months before I got it back. When I got it back, the well water they use turned to algae, and siezed the pump! I'm saying this to warn everyone to do the best you can to remove as much water as possible, regardless of the unit you purchase!!!

It stays cold for 24 hours or more!
It's real easy to put together. Only 6 items. It gets real cold, if you need that, but therapeutic levels too. I couldn't figure out how to wrap the "soft" side so it faces my skin. So I took old Velcro wraps I had from my ankle braces and used those. Otherwise the Velcro straps work with the plastic facing the skin. As the manual states "always use an insulation barrier". So if I have jammy pants on that's my barrier plus my lovely support hose I get to wear after a knee replacement surgery. Also, check your skin after 10 min. Glad I did cuz I'm supposed to ice 20 min on, 20 min off. It was too cold so I had to lower the setting and I let my knee warm up before I put it back on. I took it with me to my PT appointment today. Plugged it into my car and had ice on the half hour ride there and back. It's a great advantage to have ice right after therapy. I've had 6 frozen water bottles and a gallon of cold water in it for 22 hours and it's still cold. I did find the manual to be incorrect on the cold levels. It states that 1 is max and 3 is min. On my machine it's the opposite. I suggest you check levels before using. So that and the cold therapy pad is an awkward shape. Where the cold water hose leaves the pad it wants to "buckle up". I thought it wrapped around the entire knee, it doesn't. There's a short Velcro strap on the top that doesn't really do anything but get in the way or makes the pad smaller if you pull it too far. Maybe it's for shoulders or other body parts. And if I was thinking when I ordered, which apparently I wasn't, I would have seen that it has a hole for the kneecap. I need coverage there as my incision is over 12 inches from above the knee to below and right over the kneecap. But that's my fault. I just adjust it to cover the area I need. And not being able to Velcro strap the soft side down is why I have it 4 stars. Otherwise I'm quite happy and was told by my PT that I can wear it continuously as long as it's not cooling the skin to much. The constant cooling will keep the swelling down and decrease the amount of time it'll take me to recover. Which I'm all for!

Amazing pai. Relief support!
Post knee replacement: This has been so effective helping with pain, especially burning type pain. Tried ice bags 1st few days, but placement was such a struggle. This works great, keeps cold right where you need it, even when sleeping!

Knee ice man
Ice man machine worked OK however the knee piece did not wrap around the entire knee only partially and then Iโd have to change it from the front to the back that was annoying and wasnโt effective as far as alleviating the pain from the knee replacement, I would recommend a ice me that has a full wrap as a better solution.

It works well at price point.
Day 3 of my knee replacement and I canโt tell you enough how pleased I am with this product. Easy to set up, lots of room for frozen ice bottles currently using 6 and it has lasted at least 16+ hours. I am using 30 min. On and 10 min. Rest. It has helped me rest quite a bit. I totally recommend this item. Thank you for all the reviews I read and ultimately chose this one because of the customer service that was written about item. I have not needed them yet but if I do I know they are there. I want to update my review. Almost 3 months using this and I again am so grateful for this product and the quality has maintained since new. Never an issue with anything. Unfortunately I continue to need this device because I ended up needing a manipulation on my knee but grateful this product works. This gives me the ability to sleep because it numbs the pain and Iโm not up and down through the night replacing an ice pack.

I'd give 10 stars if I could. Already planning on ordering more.
Of all the cold water machines, this was by far the least expensive, but this thing is amazing. It's got plenty of timer settings, for both cooling and resting, so if your doc says 15 min cold then 30 min no cold, the timers can do this for you. Couple things they don't mention, but yes you can turn off the pump, and disconnect the hose and go hit the head leaving the cooling pad still strapped to your leg. Then on back to the recliner and you just plug the hose back together and that's it. And the final thing that just amazed me... how cold does it get?? I've never had to pull a gel pack bc it was too cold, but I did have to turn this unit down!!! Luckily they have 3 pressure levels, the more pressure = the more cold water circulation . This pup WORKS! honestly, it'll do knee, ankle, foot and shoulder, and I think there's another attachment to where you could ice the back/core areas. (LOL, dear santa) In my opinion any active family where kids and parents alike, are active and involved in sports, one day somebody's gonna need this. We're going to order one to keep up at the lake cabin right with the firstaid stuff, but we told the neighbors they could check mine out and maybe get themselves a couple too.

This will be my best friend soon. It's a great product.
I thought I was ordering from Amazon dot IE but it came from New Jersey. It took about 2 weeks. As I don't need it for a few weeks I assembled it. It is working perfect and the pump is nice and quiet. It did come with an American 2 pin plug but I was able to buy a conversion adapter in a local store. The pad is fine and big and the underside is clear and you can see the water being pushed through small channels. Ice water would be really greatib this reservoir. The pump is really quiet and I can see how useful the timer will be going forward. Whilst it was an expensive purchase, I am happy with it as I have 2 TKR's to get through so the initial cost is halved.
