Beautifully well crafted watches

Deducted one star because the watch was not working when it arrived because it needed a battery replacement. This is a classic design. As a fan of the vintage Rolex 1016 design, this is my second Addiesdive 1016 homage watch. The rubber watchband and screw-down crown will be great for wearing while surfing, snorkeling and swimming. I also own a Smiths Everest which is a more accurate homage but more than five times the price. I hope Addiesdive continues to produce this watch in case I need it again.

​I wanted to love this brand. I really did. I initially left 5-star reviews based on the value-for-money specs, but after 30 days and multiple units, the "Addiesdive Lottery" is real, and the odds are not in your favor.​The AD2030 Experience: 0-for-2​Unit 1 (Chipped/Scratched Dial): My first AD2030 arrived with a visible chip/scratch on the sand-dune textured dial where it meets the perimeter edge. For a "sterile" dial where the texture is the main feature, this is an immediate fail. Instead of a hassle-free return, I had to get Amazon Customer Service to manually override a replacement.​Unit 2 (Mechanical Failure): The replacement arrived with a screw-down crown that will not seat all the way. The stem was cut too long from the factory, preventing the crown from sealing against the case. I ended up fixing the first unit myself by sourcing and installing a completely new dial—because apparently, I am the only one doing QC on these watches.​The MY-H3 (Miyota 2115) Disaster​I’ve had two of these, and the mechanical consistency is nonexistent:​Gear Lash & Phantom Drift: The first unit had severe backlash and "hacking failure" where the second hand would intermittently tick even when the crown was pulled.​Alignment Failure: Both units suffer from "middle-of-the-road" syndrome. The second hand consistently lands exactly in the dead space between the markers—specifically at the 11, 25, and 40 positions. It is a visual mess.​Final Verdict​Addiesdive is using its customers as a "lottery-style" QC department. They ship units that should have never left the factory and expect the buyer to either live with the defects or spend their own time (and in my case, my own money for a new dial) to make the watch right.​If you don't have a workbench, tools, and the patience to rebuild a brand-new watch, stay away. The specs on paper don't matter if the assembly is this sloppy.

All colors of this "sand dune" watch face aren't nearly as exciting as they appear in photos. Too subtle, honestly. Sent it back in favor of the blue sparkly one from Addiesdive.

So far, so good, but the crown was a bit difficult to pull out when setting the time.

The negatives are the oddball 19mm watch strap size, which is very hard to replace with a metal bracelet. There are very few good choices. It would have been much better off with an 18mm or 20mm width band. The strap that comes with it was very uncomfortable for meThe movement is very cool for a quartz.

The watch case feels nice, but there is a weird off colored smudge on the dial itself. Very unsightly and probably won’t ever wear it.

It looks wonderful on my hand and the materials feel comfortable and nice for the price. Also I have a small wrist and it fits perfectly.

The dial is unique to Addiesdive and offered in a few different versions. This no branding version is great as it unclutters the look. As I bought this for somebody else, I appreciate it from that point of view seeing it worn by them. Polished parts are done well, clasp is narrow and even has some polished edges as well. The Seiko VH31 'sweep' is pleasant and this movement keeps great time. I have one in another watch and it impresses with its monthly accuracy there as well.

1. The watch is simple, the watch face is amazing - the reason I got it to begin with.2. The buckle and the caseback are free of logos and text, unlike the images suggest in the product description. Dissapointed that it wasn't pointed out, the image with the caseback belongs to a different watch.3. The buckle is flimsy - dissapointed with it, I'd change it in the future.4. I just found the same model for almost half the price in the other (obvious) market place...
