It’s sandpaper, but it holds up to sharpening steel blades.
I use sandpaper on a mouse pad to sharpen my convex knives. The steels I am working with go as high as 68 on the Rockwell scale. These steels can be difficult to sharpen but this sandpaper does hold up well. It allows for my first step in polishing blades at 3000 grit. This sandpaper holds up well to the task. If it can handle blade steel, it might work for you.

The right grit

P-3000 grit NOT actual 3000 grit
product is OK. be aware the grit is P-3000 so the actual grit is 1500. so finish is not as fine as you think it should be.
