Bought this to set up my iPad Pro for filming tutorial content and the occasional live stream, wanted more mounting options then just a basic tripod clamp offers. Fit is precise for my specific iPad Pro model, cutouts line up exactly with the ports and camera without blocking anything I need access to while filming. Compatibility was accurate matching the listing to my exact iPad size, no gaps or looseness once it was clipped in. Sturdiness feels excellent, real metal construction rather then plastic that would flex or crack under the weight of additional accessories mounted onto it. Size adds minimal bulk considering how much functionality it adds, doesn't feel like I'm hauling around something oversized. Versatility is really the standout here, multiple mount points let me attach a mic, light and the tripod adapter all at once, turned a simple iPad into a legitimate multi accessory rig for content creation. Appearance looks clean and professional too, doesn't look like a bulky aftermarket cage, more like proper filming gear. For the price, this is a fraction of what a dedicated video rig setup would cost while giving similar functionality using gear I already own, real value for anyone using an iPad for content creation. Only complaint is accessing the volume buttons is slightly awkward with the cage on, small tradeoff for everything else it adds. Great accessory for turning an iPad into a real recording setup.

Unlike the pricier cage I returned, this one allows me to keep track of the Pencil without needing an extra holder or worrying about where I set it down. That small detail has been a huge quality-of-life improvement, especially when moving quickly between tasks. Mounting options are where this cage really shines. With multiple 1/4”-20 threads and versatile attachment points, it’s incredibly adaptable. I’ve used it as a standalone tablet stand, mounted it to tripods and arms, and integrated it directly into my video and photography setups. Whether it’s serving as a monitor, a teleprompter screen, or a control hub in the studio, it just works. Overall, the SmallRig tablet cage proved that higher price doesn’t always mean better functionality. Its ease of use, smart Apple Pencil accommodation, and wide range of mounting options make it a perfect tool for video production and photography studio work. It’s practical, reliable, and well thought out—and easily the better choice over more expensive alternatives.

I put my iPad in this cage and attached it to a tripod. It is used for sheet music PDF files in a ukulele group.

I gotta be honest. I was about to return this because it arrived late but after using it, I feel like it’s worth having when you’re on set or location or anywhere a cage could benefit your iPad for protection The build quality from the lightweight frame to the rigidity of the structure is top notch. Something that SmallRig almost always does well. The nato rails and multiple mounting points are great for versatility. I definitely appreciate the sun shade. Not a fan of how it’s attached. (4 Velcro straps) it definitely seems like an afterthought rather than something designed in from the get go. Finally, one other nitpick is the size of the cage. I have a 13” iPad Air and there is WAY more leftover space. Maybe it’s built for other larger tablets but it would be great to have something a little form-fitting. Simply put, if you need a cage for your iPad, this is one of the best-if not the best-around for the moment.

I’ve had the other cage type for the iPad that would adjust in size to fit the version you have. Too many screws had to be used and even with loctite it would be a little rickety. The Small Rig cage might be big based on your iPad but it will be sturdy. It’s also alot quicker to take the iPad in and out. My iPad Pro 13” (7th gen) is confirmed to fit which I couldn’t find expressly stated. Since the iPad would move in the frame some, I added rivets and 1/4-20 furniture levelers to really lock it in. It’s locked now and awesome!

Solid and Extremely useful - I have been looking for a cage for the iPad like this one for a while, and I was considering purchasing another one I saw that was expensive than this one, but didn't offer and sun hood and Alsop wasn't as easier to mount like the Small Rig one. Love all the mounting options.

I bought this cage to give my iPad extra stability and protection while filming, and overall it does the job really well. The build is solid metal and feels very durable compared to cheaper options I’ve tried before. It holds the iPad securely in place and makes it much easier to attach accessories like a tripod, microphone, or light. Setup was straightforward, though it does add some bulk and weight to the iPad—which is expected with a metal cage. Once mounted, everything feels stable and professional, and I love how it makes filming less shaky. One thing to note: depending on your iPad size, it can be a tight fit at first, but after adjusting the screws it worked fine. It’s definitely more of a filmmaker/photographer tool than something for casual everyday use, but if you need stability and accessory mounting, it’s worth it.

Solid construction, a real value for the money. All the mounting points you'll ever need, large for me I have an A16, but like it nonetheless, and having a large size future proofs it!

Z ogromnym żalem zwróciłem te klatkę, bo w jednym wymiarze była zbyt mała do mojego tabletu. Tablet z ekranem 18 cali (czyli z obudową wymiar większy). Nie zmienia to jednak faktu, że klatka jest świetnie zaprojektowana i świetnie wykonana. W komplecie znajduje się bardzo ważny element - osłona przeciwsłoneczna. Jeśli chcesz zwiększyć sposoby wykorzystania technicznych możliwości swojego tabletu, ta klatka jest dla Ciebie!

who is it so large?

Considering this was my 3rd iPad case, I was sceptical, especially for the price point. I must say I am pleasantly surprised and my iPad lives in here a lot more than initially expected.
