Best Camera I’ve Found for HomeKit, NAS Recording, and No Subscription
I’ve used most of the major camera brands over the years, and this is the best one I’ve found if you want HomeKit support, continuous recording to a NAS (I use UGREEN), and no forced cloud subscription. I currently have 9 of these installed, and all of them have been working very well. That alone says a lot, because if there were reliability issues, I definitely would have noticed by now. The picture quality is excellent, and the color night vision sensor gives very clear video at night. The spotlight is also super bright, and I like that you can schedule the indicator light on or off, which is a nice feature that not every brand offers. Another thing I’ve been happy with is how well they seem to hold up in Texas weather. The color and finish still look good, and the dual-channel Wi-Fi has helped keep them stable and reliable. I’ve also seen some complaints about the mount design, but I actually think it was designed well. It seems clear they prioritized a sturdier mount that holds the camera more firmly and reduces vibration, which I appreciate living in an area that gets major tropical storms and hurricanes. Out of my 9 cameras, only 1 needed a different angle than the standard mount allowed. For that one, I bought two 90-degree brackets and bent them to the angle I wanted, as shown in the picture. That said, I do think offering angled brackets as an accessory would be a smart addition. Overall, these check a lot of boxes that are hard to find in one camera: HomeKit support, continuous NAS recording, no subscription, strong night image quality, and solid reliability. After trying a lot of different brands, this is the one I’ve had the best overall experience with.

Best HomeKit Camera Ever!!
I’ve tested a lot of smart home cameras over the years, and the Aqara 4MP Camera Hub G5 Pro WiFi is easily the most impressive HomeKit-compatible cameras I’ve used. The video quality is crystal clear day and night, and the color night vision is surprisingly good. This camera was actually a replacement for three failed Logitech Circle View cameras I previously owned — all of them failed between six months to a year, and I got tired of constantly replacing them. Motion detection is fast and accurate, with smart AI features that can recognize people, packages, pets, and vehicles without constant false alerts. The build quality feels premium, setup was straightforward, and the dual-band WiFi connection has been rock solid. Aqara absolutely nailed this product. If you’re serious about smart home automation and security, this camera is worth every penny. Highly recommended!

Aqara just works reliably in Apple HomeKit
I have every camera known to work in the Apple HomeKit environment. I must say that these Aqara cameras, all models including this one, are rarely offline in HomeKit. Eufy, Logitech, Omna, Arlo, etc are offline constantly. Set it to automatic and the “fluent” setting kicks in and keeps your camera online. The picture remains perfectly clear and kicks it down a notch instead of it going offline completely. Other cameras just go offline. Yes you’ll need a hub but even their smart plugs have a built in hub. I use their pan scan cameras indoors and they track my ratties so I know when they’re being bad. They either sync up directly into the HomeKit environment seamlessly or you can go through aqara’s app and it’ll put it in your home environment with a flick of a switch. I opt to go into the app first as it has additional functions that you set up and they run in your apples home environment. Like calibration, animal detection, zero return set, etc. One camera liked to return home in an area that was redundant. I had as able to adjust where the lens returns to home in an area I need camera coverage. Of course if a dog or person walks by, it tracks your movements and sends a notification to your phone if you choose. I very happy with all Aqara products and most impressed with their outdoor security camera. So cool it connected right into the Aqara app then I sent it to Apple home through the Aqara portal. I can highly recommend ALL Aqara products including my new outdoor camera. Their products just work. And I have over 50 smart devices controlled by Apple home with Aqara leading the pack for reliability. Even native Nanoleaf products don’t compare and they’re exclusively made for the apple environment.

Mixed feelings
First off, the camera performs very well. Color images even in darkness is really exceptional. Fully impressed with the electronics. Unimpressed that I have to figure out a robust mount and power supply. The usb plug on the back seems doomed to early failure in a wet and sometimes frozen outdoor space. In this regard, it seems more like an indoor toy and not an outdoor security solution. I moved away from Ring because I am trying to step away from cloud subscription services. Feeling some remorse as the outdoor Ring products I have been decommissioning have indeed been able to withstand the elements with waterproof connectors and mounts that have some heft.

Great Camera
Great camera! I also bought the doorbell. Got rid of the other brands i had. Going to have these take over control of my home security. The battery life is great, or you can keep it plugged in as long as (the plug) is in safe, dry area. The field of view is great and the night vision looks like day! It’s simple to use and is and great value for the money!

Terrific Camera
I needed to replace one of my Arlo cameras because it died an early death. Bought this G5 Pro with some trepidation being that it is "frequently returned". The Physical Installation was a breeze and I had no problems with the App or getting it connected with homekit. Verdict: infinitely better camera than the Arlo, better image, better low light performance, better response time. I will be replacing all of my remaining Arlos.

Great camera
Great camera, works well, colored night vision is stunning. Great integration with Apple home. Only downside side it is not hard wired. Good value when on sale. Motion detection works well. I have my under a covered area.

Great image quality and low light performance, but with some massive oversights.
Outstanding image quality & low light performance with easy app setup and HomeKit integration... however two main issues hold it back. 1. The USB-C port is exposed on the back of the camera without ANY waterproofing. ...what???? On an outdoor camera? That makes no sense! It should be an integrated cable / pigtail (as they do with their U100 camera) that you can then extend. 2. The included mount does not have any rotation where the mount threads into the body, which prevents side-to-side adjustability when mounted against a wall. What this means is you either need to a) mount it upside down on a ceiling to allow the base to handle rotational duties (which exasperates issue #1 because the USB-C port and speaker would now be facing UP, which is asking for water to collect)... or b) purchase an additional bracket or a new mount that allows articulation. Considering this camera already doesn't include a power brick (5v2a minimum requirement), it's unfortunate that the end user needs to purchase even more to get proper mounting adjustability and to properly waterproof it. For a power brick & waterproof cord, along with a proper mounting solution, one could easily be looking at an additional $30-$40... so the value proposition just isn't quite there when compared to the competition. As a HomeKit user, I will always root for Aqara... and if they come out with a "version 2" of this camera with these issues resolved (without raising the price point) - I'll be all in!

🔹 Prezzo e rapporto qualità/prezzo Io l’ho acquistata in sconto a circa 150€, e secondo me vale tutti i soldi spesi. Voto: 9/10

Amazing night vision
I am committed to Apple HomeKit which makes the choice of outdoor cameras rather limited. I have a couple of Eve cameras, but when this came out I wanted to try it. I am blown away by the image quality and reliability. I use it with WiFi and it never goes offline…unlike the Eve cameras. The image quality is also much better especially the night vision. Super happy and will over time migrate the Eve to this. The only small downside is that it is powered by USB-C which makes it a little challenging when installing on an “in-wall” 220V light mount.
