Quality ives up to the Fiskars name.
Solid, easy to adjust and use. The curved saw blade cuts through branches like going through butter. Nipper works well too.

Superior to what I expected before purchase
I'm pleased with MOST of this tool -- it has a very nice Saw Blade; I believe its Oval Extension Poles offers better structural strength than previously-used Round Poles; it has a pair of nicely made outer C-Clamps for the Pole Extensions; the Pole Extensions are fairly sturdy, and lock very securely into their different "open" positions quite well; the length of the Fully-Extended Pole Saw seems a bit longer than I expected (but I've not measured it, nor directly compared it to previous pole saws, yet). The Pruning Blade is this tool's weakest link and has caused me the most difficulty, so far. I'm pleased to see that it seems to be a Metal Cutting Blade with a pass-thru cut against a (Painted) Metal Brace. (It originally looked like a plastic housing to me, so I'm hoping it's actually metal.) The fact that some of the painted surface is chipping away after a few dozen cuts is annoying, but tolerable. The bigger problem is the Cutting Blade rarely springs back to its fully open position -- so, I always have to bring the top mechanism all the way back to within reach of my hands, pull it fully open, then use it again -- and repeat this process. [Note that WD40 hasn't eliminated this time-consuming problem.]

Fiscars 7' - 16' Pole Saw with 1.25" Chain Drive Pruning Shear
Excellent product. Excellent value. This is my second one. My only concern is the strength of the (telescoping) extension tubes. This Pole Saw cannot withstand any sudden impact with the ground, should you be trimming a larger diameter, higher, heavier branch that suddenly comes crashing to the ground. To be clear, this is a very well engineered tree pruning, tree trimming device. I absolutely have loved mine. You have to sort of "know when to say when" in not becoming too greedy in bringing down those extremely high, extremely large branches. Having said that, I've been able to repair my Fiscars Pole Saw three times now by simply (carefully) cutting the damaged telescoping tubes and (carefully) redrilling new fastener and height adjustment holes, as necessary depending on the needed repair. Also the chaindrive pruning hook tool is fantastic! It provides additional mechanical leverage for pulling down the pruning mechanism rope. Very, very effective tool. Just know that the higher you trim (saw) branches, the greater the odds you will damage this Fiscars Pole Saw. In many instances, however, it can actually be repaired ("repurposed") again, although you will likely have less overall height. Regardless, this is a very good value for the price. Lastly ONLY use this Pole Saw when standing on the ground. That's a basic safety thing that even this "greedy" Fiscars Pole Saw amateur user strongly advises. I am grateful for this product. It immediately opened up additional capability for me as a DIY customer. I know there are other (Commercial Grade) Pole Saw Pruning Tools. This Fiscars tool has more than met my needs. It adjusts well... adjusts easily, provided the tubing has not been bent. I have trimmed branches up to 25 feet high with this fully extended Fiscars Pole Saw. I've learned to have more reasonable expectations of the tool, while still appreciating its capabilities, particularly from an amateur / home owner perspective. The saw blade is magnificent. It is best utilized by having both feet firmly planted on the ground.

It works - tested it immediately upon receipt.
We have a willow style tree which overhangs our patio. Lately it's started to look like a kid with an unruly hairdo who hasn't seen a barber or stylist in a long while. A few scaggly branches popping out here and there. It seems less than ideal - not to mention due to it's height, not possible - to really use a ladder effectively with a trimmer or lopper in hand. So pole lopper/saw it is. After looking at a lot of reviews and specs - this Fiskars model hits the right mix of features (length and cutting capability) for a good price. The model I purchased extends from 7' - 16' and has the "chain drive". Overall the tool seems sturdy - time will tell. The fiberglass pole is striking a nice balance between weight and strength and reach. The tool head with lopper worked fine to nip thru 3 branches that were just a bit over 1" in diameter (thickness). I have not yet tested the saw - other than to remove the blade while using the lopper. When fixing the saw for use - you undo a single wingnut and align a support hole with a nub on the tool head and the hole for the bolt for the wing nut to (re)secure the saw. It would be nice if they'd include a second nub so you could secure the blade to the tool while it's not in use and not worry that it could slide out of position. Overall I'm happy with the price/performance - it made easy work of the test branches on the willow over the patio - requiring not too much strength to pull the rope for the lopper. It's a bit unwieldy but extended to 12 or 16 feet that's to be expected. Time will tell about the durability - but I have a weekend coming up soon to do some trimming on a number of trees around my property.

Awesome tree-saw/pruner!!
I was waiting for this to arrive as I had quite a lot of high tree branches that were thrashing my roof, guttering, and walls in moderate winds. This thing is EVERYTHING I was hoping it would be; not too heavy, easy to use, and plenty of reach (1-2ft above gutters on a 2ยฝ storey home). This one checks all the boxes and more; it was virtually ready to use straight out of the box (just had to swing the saw blade in place). I got this for the saw, but the pruner is way more useful than I thought possible! I have a Fiskars 5ft (non-extending) chain-drive pruner and itโs *okay* up to ยฝโ maybe ยพโ limbs with a lot of effort, This baby handled ยพโ with ease and slightly larger. I had some 1in-plus limbs but I wanted to try the saw on those; equally easy to use. Sounds too good to be true? The one and only drawback on this product is this; when the trees are in full foliage, the saw blade being extended *does* catch leaves and small limbs, making pruning a little more challenging. A quick loosen of the wing-hut and remove the saw blade was my cure ... AWESOME tool Fiskars!!!

Hold off buying
Be aware that even though this is a nice pole and saw, the cutter portion is a MAJOR weak point. After using this for 5 minutes the cutter broke on it's 3rd finger sized branch. I have made Amazon aware of this and will receive a replacement to try again but until then I can NOT recommend this at the time. I have 3 other shorter poles bought through the years that work great that cost no where near what this does. I will update on the replacement pole quality. UPDATE #1 The head on the saw broke within 3 hours of use. Half of it is made out of a JUNK metal that looks like slag from a casting pot. This is what they use to make toys out of and should NEVER be used in anything that takes stress. The other half of the head is plastic and did NOT brake. This failure is totally unacceptable and this saw should be pulled from the market. The head WILL break if you use this pole to cut anything larger than a twig or pencil sized branch. UPDATE #2 The next day I tried retracting the pole and it would not lock so I took it apart to see what happened. The plastic locking body moved out of alignment because there is no stop to keep it from moving and only friction is supposed to hold it in position. I realigned and tightened the bolts alot more than they originally were. Both locks had failed. This is the 3rd failure within 1 day of use. This saw should NOT be on the market as is. They choose to use cheap parts on a good concept. UPDATE #3 I received my replacement pole and you can see there is nothing holding the chain lock plate together on pruner. This is why the first one broke. The grooves are even too thin to add your own plate. After some time I barely squeezed a lock ring on one pin but there is no room for this on the other pin. So if you own this pruner put a tie wrap around the lock plate so it does not fall off. POOR manufacturing. Also without even using the pole I had trouble with the locking pins for extending the pole. I repaired them as before. If your handy you can fix this pole to function but the head is still not very strong and will break over time with sawing motions. It is a GREAT design concept but POORLY executed. Over all I can NOT recommend this pole as is currently manufactured.

VERY easy to extend/collapse as needed and cuts smoothly
There is a lot to like about this tool and even more when you consider the price. Short version: you will love the ease of use and you will be very happy with your purchase. The best part is the pole & extension mechanism. Flip the latch, push a button, slide the pole, lock it down, and you are ready to go in a matter of seconds. The pole is pretty stiff and light enough for the home gardener. I had a minor issue with one button, after the first few uses, it jammed and wouldn't drop into the holes any longer. I extended the pole and banged that section like I was trying to pull the pole apart. That popped the button loose and it has been fine since. To avoid this, I suggest pushing the button, moving the pole an inch or so, release the button, and slide the pole to the next stop hole. You can repeat that process as many times as needed before locking it down. This approach has kept everything working smoothly. The branch cutter is easy to use and very sharp; it will easily cut a 1" branch. The chain drive is solid and reliable. The cord is long enough to use the cutter when the pole is fully extended. The saw is sharp and has a hook at the end, very handy for pulling down twigs and deadwood. There is a significant curve to the sawblade. This can make it a little difficult to use when you can only get to the branch from the side (not the top); the curve makes the saw want to cut very aggressively causing it to hang up some when used at extension. On the plus side, the curve keeps the blade aligned with the rest of the pole, improving maneuverability.

Great tool to have when cutting high branches

Good Product. Received Product that was Used rather than New.
Works as advertised. Well built and sturdy. Somewhat heavy when fully extended. The package sent to me was definitely opened and used. Doesn't really matter, but would have appreciated a discount for a used item.

VALUE FOR MONEY
I used it to prune branches from a tree. Extension worked really well, and helped me to cut most tall parts.
