Large quantity for value
This is a large can of pine tar. It is very thick and easy to apply. It apparently has a lot of uses too. I bought it for my dog, who keeps licking her front paws causing sores. It's perfect for wound care due to its antiseptic properties. Humans can use it too. Pine is used to make turpentine and the tar has all those qualities present. It can have a drawing effect and makes a good poultice in this thick state. Pine resin is another good choice for a poultice. Always a good idea to have pine products around for emergency medical uses. I find the animal products cheaper to buy than the products made for humans, which can be re-purposed for humans.

Exactly what I've been looking for!
Used for making certain soaps this product was/is easy to work with. I've been seeing some reviews and wondering how they could have had so many issues with this product. It works for soap. If you thought pine tar was supposed to be runny like maple flavored corn syrup then that's on you. It's thick. It's also how it's supposed to be. For those of you on the fence about it, get a can, and try putting the can (with lid on and up) in boiled water for a minute or so and you'll find it easier to pour for small batches. Great product! Thank you!

One of my favorite things I bought this year.
I always wanted to use pine tar to seal wood work I'd created. Recently I bought this jar of tar to seal squirrel box houses for some squirrels I know who had recently been evicted from their tree when it was cut down. The pine tar seemed appropriate for this project. I melted it down in an old crushed tomato can in a pot on the stove with a tiny bit of oil (canola). Onc it was the consistency of warm maple syrup I painted it on. I let it soak in for a day (could have easily sat a couple but time was a factor) then wiped the excell that remained off on old rags. Be careful with anything you wipe it on. The water resistance is superior to many products I've used in the past. Old school techniques and methods still have a place, we just need to learn all the clever ways the old timers had of using what was around them. I can tell already I'll find a bunch of applications for pine tar. Also horse friendly - which I can admire.

Works Great for Pine Tar Soap
I'm a soap maker and my local livestock and feed store stopped stocking my usual brand of pine tar so decided to try this. If you're a cold process soap maker, you know exactly how pine tar behaves, this is no different. I've been making cold process soap for about 10 years and I'm happy with the results of this batch. The accel, color and scent is the same. After an 8 week cure (which is my usual cure time for pine tar soap) the lather is also the same. My soap testers (AKA beloved friends and family) also find no difference between this pine tar and my previous brand. No one has had any type of adverse skin reaction or other complaint. No, I'm not a horse owner or know anything about their hoof care, but in soap making, I'm happy with the product.

Excellent protection, just not for soap.
This pine tar is by far one of the cheapest on Amazon, expect to get what you pay for. It's thick, almost hard to work with thick. It does not smell like pine at all, has more of an asphalt tar scent. I used it for conditioning the wooden handles on my knives and it works great. I have made soap with it and found other affordable tars are way better for soap (Bickmore). As a protective tar it's hard to beat price wise.

Good value for money
A hard to find product. Bought it to keep field mice and other rodents away from my tulip bulbs. Was surprised to see a huge difference. Rodents do not like this stuff, neither the smell or the taste of it. Mixed it with pine chips and covered the soil around the bulbs. No more gobbled up bulbs! What a relief!

Not for soap making
Nothing wrong with this product for what it was intended for, but it is not suitable for soap making as other suggested. Wish I had known before buying but itโs not proper purity for use on human skin, even if it is 100% pine tar.

It's a sticky mess but it works
I bought this to treat my chicken's feet for leg mites and it worked.
