GEERTOP Ultralight Bivy Tent, 1 Person Backpacking Tent for Camping

Day 7 in the field zero complaints. I bought silicone spray and sprayed it twice (drying in between sprays). Heavy rain two days later bivy stayed completely dry. Not sure I needed to do that just an extra precaution I guess. I needed small, light weight and durable and got all three. If you’re claustrophobic don’t buy it, if you’re gonna complain there’s moisture build up and you keep the bivy completely closed up- don’t buy it, key word hasty. Buy a regular tent if those apply. If you need fast shelter, on the move, light weight, plenty of leg room (I’m 5’11” 190) and wide enough you don’t touch the sides this is ideal. It has pockets at the head for say a little mag light, cell phone, glasses etc. The foot end of the bivy has enough space you can take your boots off and store them there out of the elements. This is perfect for a bug-out bag or if your military in a unit where they don’t force you to use the “issue shelter”. Ok the moisture part- sleep with the screen zipped and the tent unzipped. You may get some moisture but nothing like what you’d get with no air coming in if it’s cool out. If it’s cold out and you didn’t bring enough clothes or a sleeping bag zip it up, deal with the moisture and you’ll at least be warm. You’ll still be dry and bugs won’t be on you, my two important factors. Anyway, great price, extremely happy with the bivy and at a fair price. Fast shipping. Hope this helps.

I’ve used it multiple times with no huge problems. This will NOT keep you dry in the rain as is. You have to buy a can of waterproofing spray from Walmart or something and spray it down with the whole can. My first night in the rain was wet.l but not soaking. Just a puddle by the feet. It NEEDS the spray. After spraying it, it’s anctually waterproof. Otherwise, it’s lightweight, easy to set up, and doesn’t take up much space. The double panel is handy and helps to keep the heat down. I leave it open and if I hear rain or feel a sprinkle, then I close it. It’s small though, so you better be fine with minimal space and no means to sit up in the tent. If you sit up, you’re hunching over to do it. Your bag is gonna be in the way of your feet especially if you’re taller but the tents wide enough to move it to one side with no trouble. Material feels durable enough to me but obviously you need to have duct tape handy. No rain fly means less weight and less space taken but any rip or tear and you’re going without shelter. I’m considering another tent with a rain fly for some trips but this tents great for stealth camping since it’s low profile and camo.

Just went camping with a friend in Wisconsin. He brought his giant mansion of a tent. All of his gear packed my whole car. I brought one backpack. Initial setup was difficult at first, but once you figure out how the poles go through the sleeves it's quick to get ready in a pinch. I'm a 5'8" guy and I fit very well inside with some head and leg room to spare for clothes, shoes, and other belongings. There was some condensation on the interior in the morning, a little damp, nothing too bad. I'm a shorter guy, but to me it's surprising how much bigger it actually feels on the inside rather than from the outside. This thing stands lower to the ground than a picnic table. Very discreet, compact, and lightweight. There's an air vent by the head area. The top flap can be left open with the interior screen still closed.

I like this tent/bivvy. It is compact, lightweight, appears to have good ventilation and appears pretty durable. What I'm not fond of is reading that I'm supposed to use a ground cloth which kills the weight benefits. I'll be using this for a bike packing trip this summer. UPDATE: I used this for a bike tour trip and found that even using the screen part will not increase the airflow enough to make this a warm weather friendly tent. I have re-named it the sweat coffin. In cooler weather the condensation is a serious issue.

The first thing I want other customers to know is: get rid of your 'this is just another piece of cheap Chinese gear' thinking, if there is any. I did not use Chinese made outdoor gear until about 2 years ago. Not that I had any reservations or anything like that. I simply did not pay attention. This bivy simply is excellent when it comes to value for money. I wish I knew. I used European brands like Carinthia, Ferrino, Tatonka: tents, backpacks and more. My last bivy tent was an Italian DefCon 5. I think I know a thing or two when it comes to bivy tents like this one. This Geer Top bivy is just as good, if not better, than all the European or American brands that I had used before. I look for room, ventilation, build quality, materials and design for a bivy tent like this one. It checks all the boxes. I dislike it for one thing only: the colour. It is not really "subdued" for evading visual detection. I hope Geer Top would have it in olive green (the "military" one) someday - just like what has been offered by brands like Snugpak for so many years.

I’m 5’11” and about 195lbs, had room above and below to stow backpacking gear, boots, etc. Could use better airflow, heavy condensation in cold weather. Overall good, has held up for three trips. For the price it will suffice,

After using this tent many times since 2020 here is what I found: The good: this tent packs down small. It can fit in some backpacks water bottle holders if they are big enough. This saves space inside the pack. It's quick to set up and can handle light rain. It's long enough to fit me, a 6' 3" man in it plus some. I've used this tent successfully in 3 seasons, just not winter. The bad: it's small. It is a 1 person tent without enough room for your gear. You can not sit up in this tent without opening the zipper

Dew accumulated in the folds on the top of the tent and left me soaked all night. Not worth it at all. The condensation from my breath ended up raining on my face every time I rolled over.

Habe das Geertop Plume2 vor nem guten Jahr auf Amazon (durch zufall) gefunden und war optisch direkt angetan, Ich habe vor 3 Monaten den entschluss gefasst das dass Teil her muss - habe darauf gespart und es ist defenitiv in der Top 5 der besten Investitionen in meinem bisherigen Leben... Zuerst zur Ausrüstung (vorab - Moorgebiet) - habe dabei gehabt - Plume2 / - Kunstfaserschlafsack (5° komfort) / BW Isomatte / Elefantenhaut' sowie ein 35L Rucksack in dem ich das ganze verstaut habe. (+Nahrung etc) Der/Das Biwack lässt sich gut aus/- sowie wieder einpacken sowie zusammenlegen (einfach auf hälfte und zusammen rollen) verbraucht wirklich wenig stauraum - wiegesagt konnte es in einem 35L Rucksack mit mir tragen. Contra: Die Aluminiumstangen sind beim ersten Auspacken sehr gewöhnungsbedürftug da sie doch eine relativ stramme spannung erfprodern, nach dem ersten aufbau nehmen sie allerdings gut die form an, desweiteren is anzumerken das die vordere "stange" nach hinten fixiert werden muss und die hintere nach vorne, die kurze stange erübrigt sich - dies is aber nur ein kleiner minuspunkt Desweiteren hat sich bei mir sehr viel Kondenswasser gebildet, wie bereits erwähnt 3° (tiefstemperatur) in einem Moorgebiet. Kondenwasserbildung insbesondere im Kopfbereich war enorm aber das schulde ich der umgebung. Das ich beide "Öffnungen (Fuss/kjopf ende) weit offen hatte, hat vll dazu beigetragen. Es war keine angenehme Nacht aber ich bin mir sicher ohne das Pume2 wäre es wesentlich unangehmer geworden. Pro: Absolut Minimaler Stauraum bei wirklich guten Maßen - (8-12cm x 40-45cm) bei - (230x75x60) h/b/t Moskitonetz - dieses kann man unabhängig spannen und öffnen Lüftungsöffnungen - Ich kann mir durchaus vorstellen das diese ihren zweck erfüllen Ich werde das Plume2 weiter testen, rezessionen folgeb

This was my first bivvy, albeit a hooped one, and have to say it's one of the best pieces of wild camping gear I've bought. I'm 6'2 and there's plenty of room. Personally, I didn't feel claustrophobic at all, which I was concerned about. Once you're in it, there's lots of space around your head...a lot more than you'd expect and the pictures show. Hopefully the quality stands up as this is my new go-to wild camp setup. The poles are a quite tight to get into the loop holes (maybe my particular product) but just a minor point. For those unsure about the space...trust me...you'll be very pleasantly surprised. A couple of pockets on the inside which are really handy too. The side opens up so super easy to get in and out and great to open the side and make a coffee in the morning whilst still inside. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a lightweight, but roomier than you think, low profile camp.
