SMALLRIG Monitor Mount EVF Holder Support with Locating Pins for ARRI Standard - 2174

I've never been a big fan of mounting accessories on the hot shoe of my cameras. Certain things like a small Speedlight are ok as the hot shoe was developed for them, but when I start needing to mount an external video monitor and other associated things on it (battery, cables, etc.) to the hot shoe, it causes me to wonder where the limit is. I have never dipped my toe into video recording, having been a still photographer since I started back in 1986. I decided I wanted to give it a whirl and see what it was all about. I did my due diligence on YT, watching videos on basic video setup and using different configurations. I decided I would build a small video setup centered on my R10. I quickly decided if I was going to make it work properly, I would need to employ an external video monitor to be able to properly setup and monitor my recorded video. Enter a video cage I bought for the R10 and the Viltrox DC-550 external monitor. The monitor comes with a cold shoe pivoting mount that works fine on a cold shoe as a standalone video device. However, when I want to mount a microphone and other accessories, I needed the monitor up higher a little bit and that immediately ruled out the cold shoe mount that came with it. Enter this SMALLRIG Monitor Mount EVF Holder mount. The ARRI 3/8" with matching index pins style mount perfectly matched the top center position on the video cage I was using. It allowed the Viltrox monitor to mount perfectly and is positioned to be up higher than before giving me room to mount the "SENNHEISER Professional MKE 200 Directional On-Camera Microphone" on the cold shoe slot on top of the left side handle of the rig. The SMALLRIG Monitor Mount EVF Holder can be setup to allow the monitor viewing angle to be adjusted on the fly without any tools. The ARRI mounting provides rock solid mounting with no play at all. It's the perfect replacement for the stock cold shoe mount that ships with the Viltrox DC-550. However, there is only one limiting factor I found and that was the width of the pivot point on the mount was a bit wider than the original mount from Viltrox and with the HDMI input at the bottom edge of the monitor next to the mounting point (bad design), it created a clearance issue in my situation. I had to change to a different HDMI cable with a narrower connector head to clear the pivot. If your monitor or device that will be mounted with this mounting base does not have downward opening cable inputs, then you probably won't have any problems.

Great 3/8 evf mount. Very well made and perfect for what I needed! Check measurements for what you need but this is perfect for me, some might say it’s small. Small rig makes great gear, fits perfect on my small rig cage.

It holds my 7” monitor perfectly and securely. I never worry if the monitor is gonna go flying if I have to make a quick pan or tilt.

I see one of the biggest complaints is about the "two small pins." This is an ARRI mount. People should do their research before complaining about the design. I use mine with the MD2393 handle which uses an ARRI mount and its perfect for a low profile rig setup. The design is rugged but I do agree with other reviewers that the price is a bit steep. I would recommend using this with a 5" to 5.5" monitor if you intend to have one in front of the handle.

This product is great! It's very well made and does a great job of supporting my monitor and keeping it in place. The locating pins are also a great feature, as they help to keep the monitor from moving around. Overall, this is a great product and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a monitor mount.

As usual SmallRig doesn't disappoint. Great quality and build. Compact and light weight as well. This mount gives you the ability to customize your monitor placement. This mount is a must for anyone looking to add an external monitor to their rig. So if you've been questioning to purchase this mount or not just do it.

My Desview 5 II , did not stay in place with shoe mount attachment, even with the smallest battery! This Arri mount works quite well, very secure!

Fits the ARRI connection on my Smallrig handle perfectly. Holds the monitor in place nicely without torquing down the bolts too much and still allows smooth adjustment of the monitor angle. Highly recommended!

Very good product for serious photogrsphers This is a product which outshines most of the similar type of products I have seen. All silver coloured parts on this is made of STAINLESS STEEL . Black parts are made of aluminum alloy. Since it's basically made for Arri standard, the two pins on the 3/8 " side will have to be removed for other than Arri standard Thank you Seller, thank you Amazon . Using alen key or smallrig multi tool you can get this to be very strong. Nice

Works perfectly. Very secure. Completely adjustable right down to the amount of tension needed. Looks great on my cinema camera rig!
