This Rust-Oleum white primer works very well. It goes on evenly, and it is pretty much self-leveling. Even though this primer is "technically" flat/matte with no gloss, it actually has a slight iridescent pearl to it in bright sunlight. This primer goes on smoothly, with "no runs, no drips, no errors," (or was that a Krylon commercial?....lol) as long as the can is moved steadily from about 12 inches away. The comfort grip spray nozzle is also a nice touch (I use a spray handle though), and the spray valve stays clean all the way from a full can to an empty can. Just make sure to shake the the can for one minute before use, and often during use, to keep the primer mixed and flowing. This primer is literally dry to the touch in 20 minutes (temp 85F and humidity 20%), and ready to paint over. However, for a really good paint to primer bond, the primer should be allowed to cure for 48 hours before painting. I purchased 6 cans of this primer to paint two 8 foot long by 8 inch diameter Endura-Stone, fluted, structural columns (3 cans per column worked perfectly for two coats per column). The columns are basically made of molded fiberglass, crushed marble powder, and epoxy resin, just like a matte quartz countertop (and almost as heavy). This primer stuck to the columns like glue, and as smooth as butter, even in the deep flute channels. All 6 cans of this primer worked like a charm with no clogging or splattering. I sprayed the Rust-Olem textured stone paint over this primer, and it stuck to the primer like magic, with no peeling, flaking or chipping. I just wish the stone textured paint had the same coverage per can as this primer, as it is 3 times the price per can. The only warning I would give about using this primer, is to make sure it is sprayed outside, in a paint booth, or cover everything wirhin 10 feet of where this primer will be sprayed. This primer has a very fine, powdery overspray that gets everywhere, but wipes right off (mostly). I would i highly recommend this primer for its low cost, ease of application, and as a great bonding surface for paint. Pick up a can (or 6) of this great primer for that next painting project.

I’ve used Rust-Oleum for several of my DIY projects, and I’ve always been happy with the quality and coverage. This primer sprays on evenly, dries nicely, and gives me a great base before painting. What really made this purchase even better was the price. I have purchased the exact same Rust-Oleum primer from Home Depot before, but I found it cheaper here. It’s literally the same product, so there’s no reason for me to pay more somewhere else when I can save money and get the exact same quality. Needed a white colored primer for light paint coverage. Used on restoring a truck tailgate before paint and adhesion was good. The panel was prepped and wiped down with grease and oil remover before hand this primer sprayed pretty well. Easy enough to spray and the product laved down decent enough. Dry time a bit longer because it is Rust-Oleum and was sprayed in higher humidity so that did not help. After dry about 1 hour did sand with 600 lightly before paint and color and hardness were fine. How durable? Only time will tell but I think it will hold up fine as a primer in the color I needed for this job. I have used and continue to use many paint products for a continuous flow of jobs both big and small and this performed as expected. Compatible with a lot of topcoats also.

Excellent product

Good product. I painted 2 plastic chairs (single coat each) with it. Looks nice. It leaves a little bit of color when cleaned with wet cloth.(I didnt apply anything else before or after this paint,maybe that is why) It is not gloss paint but its good. This was my first time using a primer and it was very easy to use.
