Don't lay it down if it is windy
This stuff is easy to use if you can get it to stick to the ground. I know it says to wet it down and that it will stick to the ground. You must wet the ground first and I mean WET, then roll the Growtrax out and wet some more and hope the wind does not come up. I did not wet the ground well enough and the day after a laid it out 15-20 not winds and it kept blowing around and moving. Got an oscillating sprinkler and kept it soaked twice a day in the wind. The grass seed started to sprout on the 8th day and is doing well. Getting ready to do another section of the yard and will be getting more now that I know how it works.

Doesn’t work as described
I was excited to get this product. It says roll it out, water it and watch it grow. There’s more to it than that obviously. I had to prepare the site. Removing all the old thatch, dead grass, leaves, and digging down 2 inches to loosen the soil. I did all of the above. I had rolled out the mats to decide how to lay them out around a tree and a curved flower bed. I cut out the design as best I could, and used the scraps to patch in some of the larger openings. I noticed that the mats had two different sides. A dark side and a light side. I wasn’t sure which side to lay on the ground so I tried contacting the company and I have received no reply. I thought this would be important since it said, in the video that the mat would stick to the ground once it was watered. so I wasn’t sure if there was a sticky side or not sticky side. Since there was no answer, I tried placing the lighter side down. I watered it, and it quickly became a very sticky mush and adhered to the ground. When the site was prepared, I lay down the mats and watered as instructed. I also watered it three times a day because of our Texas heat. And that was as instructed. It’s been two weeks and I have seen absolutely no growth, no sprouts, nothing. I was hoping I’d see at least a couple of sprouts by this time. A close-up shows that the seed coats are popped open from hydration but nothing coming out of them. I wonder if it had viable seeds at all. Since there are no phone numbers or replies to text messages, there is no way for me to know if I still need to wait longer to see any growth. But it seems that two weeks is long enough to see something happening. One photo shows that there are some holes but those were created by small critters who like to dig things up. After taking the photo, I went back and patched the holes up. That’s when I examined the mat and noticed that there was absolutely no growth happening. No roots no sprouts, no nothing.

It’s ok
Didn’t work so well for us. Grass did grow but it fell apart while place and was just messy. I’m sure there’s a learning curve that I did not meet

Not a great product.
It is a pain to lay down if there is any wind at all. Also, if you are in a windy area it’s not the product you want! I ended up having to put a couple inches of soil to keep in laying down! I lost a bunch of it during a windy day even with soil weighing it down. Would maybe be a good “patch” product, but if you live in the country or anywhere windy I don’t recommend. I originally thought I might be able to steal the strips down but once the product gets wet it shreds easily and the anchors did nothing. I will update when the grass starts to grow how it is.

Maintenance free grass!!
It has been 6 years since I grew this grass to cover where we put a kiddie pool. It is still the healthiest part of the lawn! The rest of my lawn is terrible with weeds, flooding, uneven grass, etc. This spot is always perfect. Even the water that floods our yard parts and runs around it...it's crazy. I wish I had my whole lawn made from this stuff and it would be maintenance free! So impressed!

Garbage, don’t buy!
Absolutely worthless garbage. It doesn’t stick to the ground, even a little bit of wind picks it up. Water just turns it into a shredded mess so you can’t vent stake it down as it just falls apart the second it is watered. This isn’t what I thought it would be at all. I thought this was like seed and mesh to hold it down. It is not. It degrades the second you water and if you have dogs, one step on it will shred it apart. Completely worthless. You are better off just getting seed and rolling out that hay mesh overtop of it.

Doesn't Really Work
I recently had an inground swimming pool removed and filled in. So my property was graded and finished with topsoil very nicely. I thought this stuff might be an interesting solution for covering it. I bought one roll and used about half of it to cut several sections and place them in different locations to experiment with. Full sun, part sun, mostly sun, and mostly shade. I work from home so keeping these things watered was not a problem. I also didn't have any problems keeping them secure to the ground with only a slight tilling with a rake and watering the ground beforehand followed by the recommended light watering to keep it in place. For comparison, I also planted small sections of Bermuda grass next to each section of this stuff. A little over 3 weeks later the Bermuda grass that I planted far exceeded the growtrax. It grew faster and thicker in every area. The growtrax did produce some grass. But only two growtrax areas (partial sun/mostly shade) really did anything. And what they produced I can only compare to a bald man in the 90s with hair plugs. By no means was it full or thick or anything that resembled a section of grass. It was sporadic blades here and there coming up. The other sections I tried had very little grass. I wondered if the seeds got eaten or washed away but they were still there, ungerminated, ungrown and just lying there. The bottom line is, this stuff just doesn't work. Looking back at the marketing and videos from this company I find it utterly hysterical that they should show full, lush lawns emerging from this product. It's misleading and, in my opinion, false advertising. Just plant your seed in the age old tradition and you'll be better off. Don't buy this.
