Wrestling-Protective-Headgear Cliff Keen F5 Tornado Headgear (Scarlet/White/Royal, One Size)

As a parent of a young wrestler, I cannot emphasize enough how impressed I am with the kids’ wrestling headgear we recently purchased. This essential piece of protective gear has made all the difference in our child’s wrestling experience, and here’s why it deserves high praise: First and foremost, safety is the top priority when it comes to sports, especially contact sports like wrestling. This headgear provides excellent protection for our child’s ears and head during training and competitions. The sturdy construction and high-quality materials offer peace of mind, knowing that our little wrestler is well-protected from potential injuries. The headgear is designed with comfort in mind. Its ergonomic design and adjustable straps ensure a secure and snug fit, preventing it from slipping or moving during matches. Our child finds it comfortable to wear for extended periods, and it doesn’t cause any discomfort or irritation even during intense training sessions. Additionally, the headgear’s lightweight design allows for effortless movement and doesn’t hamper our child’s performance on the mat. It’s essential to have gear that doesn’t feel bulky or restrictive, and this headgear strikes the perfect balance between protection and freedom of movement. The product’s durability is impressive. Despite constant use and regular impact, the headgear has maintained its shape and condition, proving to be a reliable investment that will last through our child’s wrestling journey.

Ordered for my 7 year old son. The ear covers are a tad large but the overall fit is excellent. Straps adjust easily. Very comfortable, plus he can put them on and latch them by himself.

Really Good head gear, pause.

I use this for Brazilian jiu-jitsu. First impression when opening? I paid this much for Velcro straps and foam pads? I have used this for only a few sessions. It goes on tight cuz if it isn't it'll move. I forgot all about it after I started my warm up. Yeah I wore it through the whole sessions to get used to it. Used to what? If you don't wear suits with super tight shirts and ties you'll probably feel like you are with this. For me it straps tight to my throat, Adam's Apple or whatever but I feel like I have a tight tie on that's a lil high. This thing is adjustable ... completely. But from the first time I used it till now it loosened up so you have to adjust the straps every now and then instead of tightening the chin strap cuz the Velcro is limited on that strap.. The foam padding is surrounded by a shiny plastic like material. If it remains in tact and doesn't crack I can see this thing as my favorite new gear. It shifted slightly once rolling with a 230lb blue belt. I heard a crushing sound but didn't notice any damage. I didn't like the shiny part but no matter. It works and doesn't absorb sweat. I wipe it up after with soapy water paper towel or alcohol pads but I don't know if alcohol will ruin the plastic or vinyl material. I can hear. No problem whatsoever unless my partner is covering my ear of course. Only one incident where I was being choked and my gi was rubbing against the headgear where it shifted noticeable. Better that than the gi crushing my ear but I could imagine possibility of the fear pushing against my ear if it shifted significantly it of place. Finally, you'll notice it is on again if your partner pushes on it or pulls. The ear part is big! I'll update after it has been abused.

I have a wrestler background years back and started no-gi jiu jitsu a few weeks ago. A few triangles later I decided I really need headgear. Pros: 1) VERY light. As light as the cheapie foam ones we used in HS. 2) VERY comfortable. I've had the hardshell "turtle shell cups" and the cheapie foam ones. This combines the comfort of the foam ones (perhaps even better because this foam is squishier) with the protection of the hardshells. Slippage has been minimal for me, certainly less than the cheapie foams and a little less than the classic turtleshell cups. It's just a grippier foam that sticks to your head and it has more straps than a cheap foamie one. The foam chin strap is a nice touch. 3) Hearing is excellent. Don't really have any difference between wearing it and not wearing it. 4) Safe for my practice mate. It's a hardshell around the ears so it's protective, but it's not like any other hardshell I've used. It gives just enough when you push on it. So it's good for my partner and it's good for me cuz then you don't get the hardshell crushing your head or ear in the situations when it slips a little. 5) Doesn't look horrible. Not like it's going to get you the ladeeyz (or boyz, whatever), but it's better than most. I got the all black one. Cons: 1) Price. Yeah, it's definitely pricey. But yes, I do feel it's a world apart from lower level headgear and I'm glad I splurged. Also, I know someone mentioned that it gives more of a "handle" for people to grab and submit, but it hasn't been an issue for me at all. I'm a wrestler who shoots in and still use my head to help pivot the opponent and so I still get caught in a jillion guillotines and headlocks and triangles or whathaveyou. I've been able to slip out of them not much worse than without it. Just my personal experience. Overall: 9/10. I would prefer an extra strap running perpendicular to the other straps so it can protect my hair from getting caught even more than it already does, but that's a minor issue a lot of grapplers won't have (I have relatively long "fobby Asian-style hair).

I bought this for my 8 going on 9 yr old son. I was a little hesitant at first because it was an adult head gear, buy my son's head measurement were close to the max measurements for youth head gear. This head gear is GREAT! The foam padding around the ear piece prevents opposing wrestlers from getting a grip on the head gear. My son had a wrestler try to grab in a match and he was not able to do so due to the construction of the head gear. It has a double strap on the top which assures a secure fit and placement when competing. I have seen many kids who have other brands of gear and their head gear will slide around during a match and even slip off. The straps are adjustable which allows for head growth as your wrestler gets older. It has a padded chin strap with sturdy snaps on either side of the chin so it is good for left or right handers. The ear pieces are perforated and allow for air circulation as well as allowing the athlete to hear well. I strongly recommend this product for wrestling and preventing cauliflower ear.

Much easier to adjust than the other style. Also more ear room.

For my son perfect

I've used this for years in BJJ and Wrestling, even MMA with striking and I will tell you it is well worth spending the money on this over buying cheap ones constantly. Spray it with disinfectant or use wipes after use. Great piece of gear for protecting from cauliflower.

its big an bulky. could also be a safety hazard for your partner as made of hard plastic on the outside. on the upside its light and comfortable to wear even if bulky. i have yet to try in sparring.overall not happy with it.
