Good press, little bit of a learning curve
I wanted to make some custom ring-bound books for my D&D group, and this does the job nicely if expensively. Good solid action on the levers.Only issue I have is the ring-binder is a little finicky and doesn't always crimp evenly (the end towards the handle sometimes leaves a little, but I think there's a fair bit of operator error involved there as I've gotten prefect binds out of it.Otherwise works great. The hole selectors are very crisp, the depth selector works well, and no issues with feeding spiral bindings through the resulting punched. You need to do a little work to get Letter to punch evenly. Using the listed LETTER setting causes you to have half-punch. If you adjust it just a little bit past, you'll get nice even spacing.

Great for school
I have loved using this for my classroom. Takes a little getting used to. Found where you can set the size of the coil you are using and that made a huge difference in the closure consistency of the coil.

Great value for the price
This is a great piece of equipment if you want to have a professional-looking document on a budget. The only issue is you must be very careful about how the wire sets in the crimping area. The wire tends to fall over, and it won't crimp correctly. The magnetic strip on the back of the crimping area does help hold the wire in place. Other than that one inconvenience, this is a great addition to our office.

Sending it back!
The very first day, I had tons of issues. Let me start off by saying this SEEMS like it’d be a great machine when it first arrives and came with more binding spine extras than I expected. It’s metal, sturdy, and pretty heavy, however, the machine itself I believe is defective and I’m so disappointed. It comes with cardboard to punch to get rid of the black oil used to lube the machine however, after punching the entire cardboard that came with it, and additional cardboard suggested by the seller, along with several sheets of copy paper, it still continued leaving black residue on the paper. The punches were not clean and looked horrendous and extremely unprofessional, definitely not professional enough to sell.It says it can punch up to 15 sheets of 20lb copy paper. That’s completely false. For me, it struggled with just 5 sheets of 20lb copy paper at a time and forget lightweight cardstock. The handle heavily resists upon bringing the lever back up and makes an awfully loud noise that sounds like the punching pins are scraping against metal.I tried to contact the company and initially they seemed like they’d be helpful, but only apologized for the oil issue and in the last correspondence tried to make it seem like the noise of the pins scraping against metal was normal and the photos I sent of the awful punches it was making and oil left between the paper was somehow my fault and insinuated that the paper I used was coated and that was the reason (the paper wasn’t coated).Returning and have already bought an Akiles to replace it. It’s cheap for a reason!

This thing is really, really fussy
First off, this binding machine does work, you just have to put the binding in perfectly for it to work well. The binding comb has to be placed with the small loops down, and the whole binding completely flat against the back. If it is out of alignment at all, the binding will twist and you will either have to start from scratch, or do what I do, and squeeze it with your fingers to make it work. When it does work, the bindings look incredibly professional, when it doesn't, neither do the bindings.
