Great light, BUT!
Got this light to replace the old Fluorescent fixture over my shop bench. I must say, it is much brighter than my older 4' two bulb fluorescent light, about three times brighter. However, I would have rated this product five stars if it wasn't for one fatal flaw which caused the cover to fall and break: The cover is very loose and flimsy and doesn't actually snap in place, the ends simply rest on two thin ledges which cause the cover to slide back and forth. I bumped the light and the cover flew off and landed on the floor breaking a hole in the corner. I hadn't even used it yet and now I have a damaged light which works fine but greatly bothers me. I resorted to using wire ties to keep the cover from moving again and falling damaging it even further. Installation was easy and the fixture is very light. If you have the most basic electrical knowledge it will be no problem to install. Beware however of the design flaw and take extra measures to secure the cover. _________________________ I am updating this review as of 5/16/2019 for the following reasons: Jennifer from Faithsail went out of her way to reach out to me offering a replacement cover, although I had not lodged a complaint. I received my replacement cover today and am really happy I can enjoy the full quality and benefit of the product. The great customer service I received more than makes up for the unfortunate mishap. I will reiterate my recommendation for this product, for the price it makes fluorecent lighting obsolete.

Not quite perfect!
Like many other buyers, I picked this unit up to replace an older (four bulb) fluorescent fixture. I grew weary of buying replacement fluorescent tube lights, ballasts, etc. This unit is lightweight, which greatly helps in the installation process (MUCH lighter than the old unit with its heavy ballasts). In addition, it appears to put out roughly the same amount of light as my older four tube fluorescent unit did. There are a couple of things about this unit to note, though. First, unfortunately the mounting holes in the base did not match the mounting holes in the older fluorescent unit (plus the overall unit is a bit shorter than the older fluorescent unit). Given that many of these are likely being bought to replace the old fluorescent units, having the holes in the same places would have made things a bit easier. (Though this unit did come with a variety of mounting hardware.) Second, the metal end caps on the base were just a bit (a few millimeters) too tight for the "Acrylic prismatic lens" panel to slip in and fit easily. However, a few seconds with a pair of pliers to bend each metal end cap back ever so slightly was enough to correct this. BTW, previous reviews reported that the wires on the interior of this unit would show once the light was turned on. I believe that this can be corrected by running the black and white wires (which are encased in a white sheath) as far outside of the fixture (and into the junction box or ceiling or whatever) as possible. That way the wiring in its white sheath is invisible against the white background of the unit. I did this, and the internal wiring is completely invisible. All in all, I'm very pleased. I plan to purchase a second of these units as soon as the one other ceiling fluorescent lighting fixture in my home begins to fail in any way.

Took me about an hour...
... to get this fixture installed. I'd read somewhere these take about 15 minutes. I think that's optimistic. I'd taken the old fluoro tube style fixture out while waiting on this one, so it was a clean install, no time sunk in removal, but others might want to figure that in. The fixture is light, the plugs twist out easily, and there is a selection of mounting options for the ends. It is light enough I opted to forego the anchors and use 3 sheetrock screws to secure each end to the ceiling. The junction box cutouts fit an existing octagon box perfectly and I wouldn't make connections outside a junction box, preferably plastic. There are extra junction box mounting screws, but I'd use the originals from the box if possible. The length on mine were different. The light is much whiter (4K) than the remaining fluoro fixtures in the garage and therefore appears substantially brighter (4100L). I don't know if it actually is. There is no flicker, no startup hesitation, no noise, no interference and the diffuser is much easier to remove and install than the one on the fluoro. I don't know about the longevity yet, this panel being diodes, but we'll see. Typically, though the diodes light emitting capability degrades with time, the diodes will likely completely fail individually and not just die at once like a fluoro tube.. I would plan on replacing the entire fixture when that happens. I don't know if replacement LED strips will be available, and even if they are, the price and hassle might make complete replacement more feasible. Even with the advantage of replacing just the tubes on fluoro fixtures, just as often as not the ballast goes bad and takes a bulb or both with it. Then the entire fixture has to be replaced, unless you want to deal with replacing the tube(s), ballast and a couple of burnt fittings, so I see the ultimate economy of the LEDs. This fixture uses about half the electricity as the fluoros for the same, if not more, light, is about half the price and has all the advantages noted above. I like it well enough I will order more and change out the entire garage.

Finally rid of fluorescent problems & maintenance
1. Easy to install 2. The pair are Brighter than the two 96-in name brand fluorescents in similar K-color, rated as "same lumens" but these LEDs are brighter, thankfully ... as they are parked behind a workstation valence facing a bulletin wall, giving task lighting to table below 3. Value for money A+ when others are charging so much more with equal/lower ratings; in fact replacing the fluorescents every three years, the ballast every 9 years takes a load of time finding the right match/color, THEN spending hard labor + $35 tubes + $23 ballast (av.) = $58 face value (These were $55, am not comapring taxes, shipping ... Prime free for these) I might say the color appears a bit cooler on the K-value scale, after years of wroking under this light valence w/fluorescents but NOT objectionable at all. I LOVE the 5 year warranty especially when compared to the 3&9 year maintenance typical of fluorescents mentioned above All that said, I've only experienced these new LEDs for 24hrs and not had great luck with cheap LEDs past, so hopefully I won't have to change this 5-star review ... ever. Oh, about the poor reviews on the acrylic diffuses, as I have decades of experience with this topic. 1. FedEx hires local independent contractors to deliver for them, UPS told me as the reason why they don't care about smashing breakables (even if labeled so); my history of breakage with them: Computer ... diffusers in well packed long tube packing box .... rolls of paper, end smashed so badly I was forced to get a refund/reorder so the print machine would not jamb .... leaving electronic parts 100 yards from entry, in peril of traffic in the driveway in a rain puddle .... (more upon request) 2. Acrylic IS brittle, this is NOT Lexan/polycarbonate and will become more brittle with age, so best to beeswax (like the olden days) whatever is to be assembled & pray you'll never have to do maintenance again upon the LED saga/promise 3. If there's a problem here, I didn't see any when unpacking + it's all MOOT to my application that needs no stinking diffusers 4. The cry babies that note the connector nuts are exposed ... there's plenty of metal ports supplied to TIE the wires & their nuts up & away from being noticed behind the diffuser; even high dollar fixtures don't provide channels to "hide" wiring/nuts for fear the pros won't buy them since it takes longer to wire them up = less labor profit 5. The poor cable service in this room would NOT give all channels paid for when the 2-8ft fluorescents' ballast was ON. Tests prior to substituting these 2-4ft LEDs "no ballast" prove ALL cable channels now appear and in the future, there's no ballast-going-bad noises, no more shopping for correct size/color fluorescents, then hard-to-reach replacement labor 6. Shopping LEDS prove all but this item thinks too highly of themselves, especially when looking at the history of poorly made & short-lived cheap LEDS competing for your money, under the guise of "forever" and less electricity required "hook & bait".

very decent
I was very pleased with this. Although at first when I got it I was wondering if I was fooled because it's so light but nope I opened it and led bulbs in a strip inside. The great thing is it was lightweight during installation it could use a few more hole options for mounting but since it was so light was easy to hold up as I screwed it in. The fake glass aka plastic seemed to be a little flimsy but didn't break in shipping and sturdy as most other types. The outer metal frame that held this felt like wasn't going to fit but it did. So by time I was all done I was somewhat shocked it was this easy to work with compared to other lights. The brightness seemed much improved over the past LED lights a decade ago. They were equal to the other garage lights that were not LEDs. The lights take a 1/2-1 second slower response but if you had nothing to compare doesn't really matter. That being said I seen a degrade in performance once it's really cold out in some lights in power & response, I will have to wait until winter to see if this is improved as well as the light level. But even if a decrease response time outside doesn't matter much. It's very nice I recommend this because besides the improvement in energy, installment and it's also cheaper. Yes! Great by product is that you don't have to replace bulbs keeping extra T-4 bulbs up in the rafters. Also if they break or replace you got to worry about mercury getting on your body. I don't think you break these little bulbs. In past, I had led bulbs inside my closet also get shorted out with just normal power variations of old housing but new ones I seen in recent years have be able to last to on/off day after day conditions.

Nice light, bad cover
The light works as it should, mounting the light was easy. The problem I had was with the light covering it didnโt fit flush with the fixture, and it broke in 2 places trying to get it on.
