Updated: Now with power delivery!
Note: I got my TS80P at a different website. So things have changed a bit from my previous review. First, the OLED screen on my old TS80 became dim to the point of impossible to read. Second, Miniware released a bunch of different tips with the 3.5mm connector, so I finally have a hoof tip. Finally, the TS80P was released, updating the power circuitry to support USB Power Delivery up to 30 watts, almost double the 18 watts of its predecessor. But you don't need to use the adapter that comes with the iron, you can still use that 18 watt QC3 battery I suggested... though to be fair, that option is in very short supply (Omnicharge might be a good option). The sliding handle/collar could be annoying, but it's screwed on just like the collar of the TS80, so if you're upgrading like I am, just swap them. Heat up looks pretty quick, but the TS80 was reasonably fast too, so I don't really notice a huge difference. Like all Miniware irons, you can flash IronOS to the TS80P to unlock a ton of features. If like me you have Nova LED signage software installed, the iron could show up in Windows as a Nova device (probably because of the STM32 controller). If this happens, you'll need to go find the STM32 device in Device Manager and change the driver manually to USB mass storage. After that, any firmware update or downgrade should work as normal. All in all, a good upgrade, but that new RISC-V Pinecil looks interesting and a good bang for the buck...

Had issues but customer support was great!
Purchased 1 originally about a year ago for personal use and has been working good with light use. I decided to buy two more for work and both Soldering irons are malfunctioning after 1 month of light use. They turn on and you can select a temperature but the screens flicker and the temperature jumps around randomly. Soldering anything bigger than a 24 gauge or a solder pad bigger than 2mm and the soldering iron cant keep up and will randomly shut off. After it shuts off even after a reset sometimes it wont read the tip. I have tried different tips as we have 3 for each iron, the b02, the original that comes with it as well as the wedge tip. I loved the first one I received which has none of the issues listed above and as far as I can tell is identical to the new ones we received. Can no longer recommend these as they are less reliable than a 15$ soldering iron. Edit 2/1/21 Customer support has reached out to me about RMA of soldering irons. Will update when replacements are on the way. Edit 2/19/21 Customer support has solved the issues of bad tips and set replacements and the soldering irons are back to performing as well as my original

Actually a really handy little iron
The TS80 is a pleasant surprise. It's slim in the hand, puts your grip fairly close to the tip, and works quite well. When connected to a Quick Charge-compatible Anker-brand power bank, it's a solid field iron that has no trouble reaching and maintaining 400C or lower, enough for nearly any job. The included USB-C cable is supple, flexible silicone and is a thoughtful addition. The value-add bundled mini soldering stand is flimsy, but does the job. I highly recommend updating the firmware and picking up the conical tip, to maximize your flexibility out in the field.

There great for hobbyists
It is a great portable soldering iron, but the tips have horrible heat transfer to the tip of the iron when compared to some other cheaper corded soldering irons. Though all in all, they're great and would recommend. PS. I highly recommend iron OS.

One tool I cannot live without!
Say good bye to plugging in to the wall. I have a battery pack that does USB-C and works well with this solder. I am more mobile to solder computer parts and wires. Amazing how technology has improved. I do recommend other tips for different applications. Heats up FAST! light weight especially for me since I shake allot. Only down side the menu is hard to navigate but once you get use to it, it will be a breeze to use.

Great but even though the tip sucks
Excellent iron. The conical tip sucks, so it's definitely necessary to get a secondary chisel tip but once you do that the performance is very good. It heats up very quickly

Best iron period
I have the ts100 and love it didn’t think it could get better but yes the ts80 is amazing opened package well boxed very neat easy to setup I couldn’t wait to try the unit as Iam military spec certified and have used solder stations that cost thousands of dollars but this iron beats them all also very nice it has a ground lead so you cannot spike a circuit and love the fact the tip is quick disconnect and will be playing with firmware in the future as it is great with the pre installed firmware and also first test on it I soldered 10 gauge wire very easily without the iron temp drop off cord is amazing silicone based very flexible and heat resistant can’t say enough the best iron I have used to date can’t wait for accessories to come out👍🏁

Is this thing on?
Wow - LEAST user friendly soldering iron I've used in 40 years. CONSTANTLY turning it off by mistake as the buttons are where you hold it. It DOES NOT GET HOT. Throwing it in the trash, waste of money
