do they come with a UPC?

yes, but it is all zeros. the only other description is "one dozen eggs"

Can these cartons be split in half for 6 eggs?

Yes I have successfully cut them in half for 1/2 dozen cartons. Overall a good carton for the price. Just do not get them wet as they are a recycled product they will fall apart very easily if they are allowed to get wet.
