Suitable for salt water use?

Gerber Fishing products are optimized for freshwater. When using in saltwater, rinse your tool with fresh water and dry thoroughly with a clean towel. Apply oil to hinges and moving parts on a regular basis. Gerber plans to launch a salt specific collection later in 2018.

How much weight can this withstand? 3kg or?!

I know the Defender can support 6+ lbs. The unit locks and you unlock it when you want to extend it. My bigger concern is how you attach it to your clothes and if that can support the weight. Just my 2 cents

What’s it used for??

I use it to tether a pair of scissors to my kayak seat so they are always within reach and won't fall out if the kayak

Buy it

Attention all trout fishermen and fisherwomen. This is a huge upgrade to the short standard tethers. I saw them in the flyshop on display. Sure had heartburn for the $45 price tag at numerous fly shops. Found it on Amazon for $27.00. Since my purchase, four others have obtained from Amazon. This tether extends way beyond your arm unlike the cheapy kind that might have 16-18”. I highly recommend this Gerber product.
