I am a horror fan and I collect NECA horror figures. I decided that I am going to start making dioramas for them. I found wooden boxes at Michael's on sale. I needed something for the back of them. I found these Balsa Wood sheets and they work great for what I need. I was able to use glue to attach fabric to one of these. I had no problem at all. I also have stained one of these and also had no problem. I use wood screws and attached them to the wood boxes. I did have to be careful because the wood is soft. I used my drill and went a little too deep, but still had no problem. I was also able to cut out a design on one of these as well. I ended up chipping my design but that is because I didn't use the correct cutting tool. I am still trying to figure out what cutting tool is best to use. But it still came out fine and I am not disappointed. I am also trying to learn how to use my wood burning tool and I used some of my scraps of Balsa Wood. I haven't had any warping. I really like this wood and how east it is to work with. I do plan on using this again. The price was very good!

I picked up this 5-pack of 12x12 balsa/basswood sheets, and they’ve been excellent for lightweight projects. At 1/16" thick, they’re thin enough to cut easily with a craft knife or laser cutter, but still strong enough to hold shape without crumbling. The sheets are smooth and consistent across the pack, with very little warping. I’ve used them for stencils, model building, and small engraving projects, and they take detail well. The size makes them versatile for both hobby work and laser cutting experiments. Nice pieces. No splits, chips or marks. I’m using them to make a book cover. I’m sure they will work perfectly.

I purchased these in hopes of cutting stuff out with my Cricut Air. I ordered the correct blade and all. If you are going to use the wood for that purpose as well, I would recommend something else. This wood is too thick. I even went over 3 times (which fellow cricuter’s will know that’s 12 times total), and it still did not cut through. If you are using it for different purposes, then know that the wood is sturdy, thick, and the color is nice. I used a wood paint to test, as well as a stain, and the wood absorbed both perfectly fine. All in all, not good for cricut use, but good for other things!
