Fi Series 3+ Dog GPS Collar, X-Small Blue Dog Tracker, 12 Months Included

My husband and I rescued our dog Charlie 4 months ago. He’d been badly treated as a puppy and so sadly was still very anxious and skittish. We have been training him and he’s got better but at the start any sudden sounds or noises would trigger him, and he would immediately try to bolt. We live in the suburbs, but have a good sized property. Our yard is fenced all the way round, and all the dogs we’ve ever had have always loved it as they can roam off leash. That is except for Charlie…..who just tries to escape. A couple of close calls later, we realized that no doors could be left open, and someone would always need to keep an eye on him when he’s outside. I was still so worried that I looked into what we could use to track him so that I could have more peace of mind. We wanted to make sure that we got this decision right. So, we tested 3 of the best ones against each other: Tractive, Whistle, and Fi. I don’t typically leave reviews, but my husband said we should as it may help save another dog one day! We tested them over the course of 2 weeks, and focused on the following areas: 1. Location Tracking Accuracy 2. Escape Alerts (when your dog gets out) 3. Devices (size, weight, and comfort) 4. App (ease of use and other features) 1. Location Tracking Accuracy We really wanted a tracker that we could trust, so this was very important to us. We had to make sure that if Charlie was to get out unexpectedly, we would know exactly where he was to go get him. To test this, we did several walks with each of them where me or my husband would take Charlie on a walk away from the property and I would watch it on my phone to see where they were going. Some of these walks were around our neighborhood, and some were on hiking trails that were a bit more rural. Overall, there was some variation in the tracking, with the biggest difference being that the Fi and the Tractive are the only two that offer live location tracking, Whistle does not. Another thing we did learn about all of them though is that they will only be able to work in real time with cell service. We talked to support about this and it turns out that’s how they send the GPS location back to your phone. We thought this was important, and so focused on testing hikes that had spotty coverage to see which tracker would respond best. Fi was the only one that would give updates throughout the walk, even if they were intermittent. It seems that it repeatedly tries to ping the location back to your phone, whereas the others were only able to send some reports later on once we were fully in a cell service area. 2. Escape Alerts This was a quick one. I had my husband leave with Charlie and without his phone and I timed how long before I got a notification that he had left. We were trying to recreate a potential ‘escape situation’. This was the order we got our notifications: 1. Fi - 1 minute 29 seconds 2. Tractive - 3 minutes 47 seconds 3. Whistle - 4 minutes 13 seconds 3. Devices This is getting very long as I type it so I’m attaching some pictures of them alongside each other instead! The Tractive is the only one that attaches to your own collar and you don’t need to swap your collar out for, but the Fi is by far the smallest and lightest of the group. Whistle’s surprised us as we didn’t expect it to go so far back into the dog’s neck. 4. App We actually hadn’t thought about including this section when we first started testing, but after using them all for a few weeks we wanted to include it as they each have some cool features. All these companies did a good job with set up. They all took under 10 minutes to get up and running and were straightforward processes. Running through each of them in more detail below: Fi - tracks their location, activity, health and sleep. This is the only one to track sleep which was really cool to see. It’s also the only one with a built in LED light which was a great add for our nightime walks. It also had the longest battery life of all of them and was the only one that we didn’t need to charge over the 2 week period. Tractive - tracks their location and activity. Mainly focused on location but has a couple of neat activity features. Battery didn’t last very long. Whistle - tracks their location, activity and health. Definitely the most focused on health, and tracks things like scratching and licking. Didn’t find these that accurate though. Hope this helps some other dog moms. After the testing we decided to keep our Fi and return the others and are still very happy with our decision.

This is the 2nd Fi 3 I've purchased as I needed it for my (at the time of purchase)8 month old puppy that is an escape artist and social butterfly. My 3 year old, Axel has had his for over a year and I really like the peace of mind knowing he's wearing a gps collar. It's really easy to set up and the app is super simple to navigate. If you purchase a longer subscription especially with multiple dogs the value is pretty decent as well. The only issue I have is the collar Fi sends with the gps unit. For larger dogs, or a dog that wears a wider collar I believe they are just not wide enough. Also, the gps unit is attached to the fi issued collar as part of the collar its self similar to how the buckle is attached. I don't like the stress that puts on the unit so I have purchased other collars from fi approved makers that attach the unit on top of the collar. No issues with it falling off my boy's collars and they are ROUGH players both weighing over 80 pounds and Axel thinks he's part fish and has done a ton of swimming wearing his. the "track lost dog" setting has worked brilliantly when Tonka has taken off on me and is running amok through our neighborhood. Not sure on the actual distance range as I live on a dead end road that's probably quarter of a mile long with about 15 houses on larger lots (old neighborhood without cookie cutter houses jammed in next to each other and every house has an actual front and back yard) give or take and I've always located him on our street within minutes of noticing he's escaped. The light you can activate has been a life saver when trying to find him in the dark. Anytime I've taken him to training classes, dog competitions or miles away from "home base" ive been able to look at the route and stops made according to the fi. I also really like the health and sleep tracking and the ability to add other ppl including your dog walker to your dog's profile and they have access to the info. My father and boyfriend are on my dog's profiles. I would definitely recommend fi as a great option for a dog tracker gps.

I’ve been exceedingly hopeful about this product for a long time now. When it connects to GPS, it’s helpful for at least getting you in a general range. It does not accurately let you know when your pet has left the safe zone at all. It also does not pinpoint your dog’s location on GPS; it only shows a general location, so you could be 500 to 1000 feet apart, which is a very big distance if you’re in a forest or field without a clear line of sight. It can take 45 minutes to get a notification that your dog has left the safe zone, depending on when it picks it up on GPS. The battery does last a while, but nowhere near the three-month claim. It is sturdy and it does stay on, however. The point of the light I don’t quite understand because it’s not bright enough if you’re looking for them at night. I think it’s just a fancy added feature. The subscription part, where you can see all of the steps that they take, is not really a bonus, the way I purchased it. It was part of a package deal, so I’m not sure if I have to keep it yet. I certainly don’t plan to because it won’t be worth the money for what I’ve gotten out of the product. If you’re looking for something that is going to immediately tell you when the dog leaves, give you a small area, as in less than a third of an acre for a safe zone, and pick up GPS signals in rural areas, you’re going to need to spend a lot more money or find a better product that I may not have found. This is not meant for rural areas or anywhere that has gaps in GPS. You’ll just be hunting for your dog for hours, walking in circles, playing chase, hoping this thing actually leads you somewhere.

The system is easy to use. App works very well. We have a young Jack Russell who doesn't bark when distressed (too busy trying to figure it out by himself, like any good Jack) and a neighbor who abandoned the property and his large number of feral cats: eye candy for a terrier. Our pup was trapped inside of a large animal pen and doesn't bark so without the FI we would not have found him. Very reassuring to be able to accurately locate our doggy when he goes out of his territory, as well as to monitor his sleep and activity. Absolutely worth every penny!

The Fi collar gives me a lot of fun info about my dog. Twice it has given me alerts that my dog left the safe area and the alerts were incorrect, but one time it alerted me and was correct and that helped me to quickly know my dog was wandering and I was able to quickly find him and bring him home. I recharge about every 10 days when it gets to around 50% power so I know it always have enough of a charge if he gets lost. The rankings of how much your dog walks compared to others in the city, state, and your dogs breed, as well as all dogs on Fi is cool and fun to watch.

My dog Max is a bit of an escape artist. The last time he got loose, he wandered into a neighborhood women’s book club, where he acted as though he were starving and was promptly lavished with food and attention. It was a funny ending, but it also made me realize that I needed a reliable way to find him quickly if he ever escaped again. Choosing a GPS tracker was not easy. There are essentially three major brands in this category, and Fi appeared to be one of the leaders. After reading through a great many reviews, I chose the Fi Series 3+ because it seemed to have the fewest one-star ratings. More importantly, many of those negative reviews appeared, when read carefully, to involve setup mistakes or user error. With some competing trackers, the negative reviews seemed more likely to point to actual problems with the products themselves. My Fi Series 3+ Smart Dog Tracker Collar arrived within two days. I was immediately impressed by the packaging, which was right up there with what you might expect from an Apple product. The instructions and setup process were equally impressive. Everything was so clear and precise that I was able to get the tracker working without having to backtrack, reread anything, or troubleshoot a single step. That is certainly not the case with many technology products, and it demonstrated the company’s attention to detail. I prepaid for 12 months of service so I would not have to think about monthly payments. I was also pleasantly surprised to see that the Fi app had a 4.7-star rating in Apple’s App Store. I then added the App to my wife’s phone. After all, if Max escapes again and crashes another women’s book club, I want both of us to receive the alerts. Her phone paired with the tracker quickly and easily. The most challenging part of the entire setup was attaching the tracker to the collar, and even that was only because the attachment mechanism is extremely well made. There is a spring-loaded flap that is the same color as the latch. After removing the small protective plastic covering, you need to flip open the spring-loaded latch before sliding it over the tracker. Once you understand that, you are off to the races. The next step was testing it. This was especially important to me because the most common complaint about dog GPS trackers in general is that they supposedly fail at the exact moment you need them. I left my phone in the driveway, told my wife where I was going, and walked down to the end of our cul-de-sac carrying the tracker. When I returned about two minutes later, my phone had received two notifications: one when the tracker passed the end of the driveway and another when it reached the end of the block. Both notifications included addresses, and both locations were perfectly accurate. My wife’s phone received the exact same updates. She was impressed, I was impressed, and I believe most buyers will be impressed as well. Spending a little less than $200 to help ensure that your dog does not end up lost—or become coyote food on some random evening when he decides he is in the mood to explore—is money very well spent. So far, I am extremely pleased with the Fi Series 3+ and feel much better knowing that, should Max make another great escape, we will have a much better chance of finding him quickly.

Purchased this in July after the doggo escaped. We had a google tag on him. He went out in the woods and the tag was useless. After a lot of research, we bought the FI collar. Price wasn't too bad, but what would you pay to instantly have your pet back when they are lost. There is no price. Whatever it takes, right. So anyway. We purchased. It's made very well. All the clips and stuff are made of metal. No plastic. How's it work. Charged it up. We did a few trials. I had a friend take the collar and just go someplace. Hit track lost dog. He is on the map. I am on the map. Tells me exactly what address he is at. I start to drive and 5 minutes and I have it spotted. Test worked good. Last week was the first time doggo escaped since we had the collar. In 2 minutes I had his location and had him in the car in ten. He was gone 14 minutes and traveled .6 miles and had 2519 steps. This is the product that brings peace of mind to me. Just yesterday. I get a message, Doggo has broke his exercise record. The collar racks his steps. I say to myself, he should be on the couch as usual. He was not. Unknown to me he was outside playing in his yard. No escape notice as he was in the secure area but I did get up to see what the story was. I recommend this highly. perfect in every way.

My yorkie has used two generations of Fi collars and Whistle before that. Had to purchase another for my new frise mix who’s a bit loony. Love Fi because the battery goes on for weeks, there’s lots of third party collar options out there, the LED is awesome at night, and it doesn’t look like something added to a collar as much as other brands do or adding an AirTag does. The Fi was a life saver when my yorkie was younger and ran off after squirrels; but luckily learned to listen and to return home by him self; but still love the collar because of the fitness tracking. I recently had an AirTag on my frise mix; which worked most of the time; but the Fi is just more reliable and as already mentioned - love the added LED light when walking the dogs at night. It’s not a strong light that’s meant to replace a flashlight; but it’s more to know where they are, help people spot them, and hopefully avoid bicycles or even cars from hitting them. As a bonus - there’s an option to choose from a few light colors. If one of the doggies go missing, the Fi can be put into lost mode, which causes the light to flash red (so I don’t like using the red light to avoid confusion if others know about the collar). The Fi collar is definitely worth it if you worry about your dog running off and/or their daily workout. There is somewhat of a social network built into the app where you can post and other like other pics of dogs and connect with other dog owners; but I don’t use it much and the app isn’t built around a social network which I’m thankful for. I will agree that pricing can be high compared to just using an AirTag and/or options from some carriers that offer similar trackers now; but bundling for a year or two seem to help reduce the cost (although it has to be paid upfront at once). …maybe Fi should consider allowing people to use those new financing options that allow for 4-bi-weekly payments interest free (just a suggestion). I also do wish the collar could play a sound when in lost mode; but at the same time I can see that causing some dogs to panic and God forbid, possibly run into traffic or get injured somehow. Anyways - love the collars and definitely look into the third part Sexy Dog Beast collars if you want something more premium and quality made for your furry friend.
