Pet Tunes Bluetooth Speaker Preloaded with Calming Canine Music

The title of this review may seem underwhelming but I have a rescue dog who was surrendered due to very very severe anxiety (see details below). For me, even a 10-15% improvement in my dog’s behavior is big. I’ll list out Pro’s and Con’s: Pro’s - easy to use - small/portable - bright color makes it easy to find/spot and hard to misplace - seems to work better for noises than just classical music, I think because it’s so rhythmic (see also the cons with this). - very good for my highly noise sensitive dog. According to DNA, my dog is 25% schnauzer, 13% German Shepherd, 13% Australian cattle dog (also known as a blue heeler), 13% miniature pinscher, the rest unknown. Three out of four of the breeds listed are known as highly challenging for training and/or anxiety. My dog has aggression and timidity, as well as very severe separation anxiety. He is on Prozac after we tried everything (herbal supplements, CBD, extremely expensive dog trainers) in addition to ongoing dog training. He was supposed to be a foster dog but he was returned by two prospective homes and one of them (where frankly the people were jerks who did everything I told them NOT to do) suggested euthanasia. So he is a *challenging* dog and I am his lady stop before a problem dog sanctuary or worse. When I first got him, he wouldn’t sleep unless I held him in my arms and he would startle awake at every noise. My neighborhood is a bit noisy, and just playing a white noise machine wasn’t enough to drown out random noises. This machine and sometimes the combo with white noise means that if I run out for 2-3 hours to run errands, I’m likely not coming home to a terrified dog. He might be nervous but not terrified. He still has trouble if I’m gone too long (we have a web cam to check on him) but this helps. This is a dog who has had full blown panic attacks and has a prescription for Xanax. I’m not joking. I always thought dogs on drugs was nonsense but once you’ve seen a dog severely hyperventilating until they nearly pass out, it gets real. This helps me so it’s worth the $$ for me but I don’t know if it would be worth it for a less severe case. Cons: - this doesn’t use the same charger the pet acoustics walking sound machine (for which I will also post a review) and it’s annoying to have to use two different chargers for gadgets from the same company - I find the shape a little awkward since it’s a cube with the speakers on one side and controls on another, so I find it easy to accidentally block the speaker - there is no display, no description of each track, and I don’t have a good memory so I find myself randomly clicking through in the hopes I find a tune I like. - I find most of the tunes kind of annoying. They’re sort of new age with a beat. There are maybe one or two I can deal with but I have trouble finding them, so if I’m home I put on classical music. My dog’s anxiety is better when I’m home but I’m going to experiment with how to play this so he can hear it but I can’t.

1st of all - I know you're probably skeptical.. a dog music player, that has to be a joke! I am hear to tell you I was one of the skeptics and HOLY CRAP IT WORKS! My dog had to be confined to a crate to nurse an injury from getting any worse. When he is in his crate he whines ALL DAY and if anyone knows French bulldogs and the goofy sounds they make, well yep, that was me, the neighbor who has a gremlin locked in their house which sounded like a family of upset baby dinosaurs. I felt terrible keeping him locked up, and all he would do is whine and bark, and was just flat out unhappy. I knew there had to be something to easy this transition while I was at work. I ended up trying this on a whim as I was desperate. I even bought a WAZE video camera and installed that, along with this music box in the area he was confined too. After plugging in the music box, within MINUTES he was sound asleep. I thought this had to be a prank, no way the baby dinosaur had gone to sleep with this music..I tried it again the next day, and he was quite with no peeps, this continued for days. I would check on him on the video camera and see he was in fact sleeping and relaxing all day, in his bed with his sweet music player. This not only drowned out other sounds, but gave him some peace. This was 6+ months ago and we still use this music player for him everyday while we are at work. This is part of the daily routine and I PROMISE YOU - if you are one of the lucky ones, and it works for your dog, YOU WILL BE SO GLAD YOU BOUGHT THIS.

I was skeptical about this, but I've got a rescue dog who was waking me up several times a night. (She's not allowed to sleep in the bed, so kept coming into the bedroom to be "tucked in.") I saw the good reviews and decided to give this a try. This music relaxes her so quickly and she sleeps in her bed the entire night. Our other dog also finds the music relaxing, which is a bonus since we've been trying to get him to sleep on his bed with a heating pad (he's got arthritis). He curls up on his heated bed and happily sleeps all night. The sound quality is very clear, and even I find the music to be relaxing. The cube is small, so is very easily set on any shelf, but seems to be quite sturdy. It does seem to run about 8 hours on a single charge, which is nice. In sum, I am very pleased and definitely recommend this little gadget to everyone.

This was recommended by a friend who uses a related product for older horses. I have 2 elderly dogs, one of whom has severe separation anxiety, and the other a new rescue who is older, petrified of thunderstorms, fireworks, etc. I've tried the thunder shirt with her, but have found it minimally helpful I thought "what the heck", and ordered the canine version. Although I'm not home when it's in use, I have noticed that they are both usually sound asleep when I return home, not frantically barking at the window like before. I can only assume that the "New Age" musical sounds have something positive to do with it. I would recommend it's definitely worth trying, esp since the cost is reasonable.

My dog is a Minpin he gets anxiety when he has to get in his crate. But one day a played meditation, music on Alexa and I found that he would relax and fall asleep with in minutes of hearing the music. I had this trip planned to travel from Fl . To California a 5 hour flight . I was so concerned about him stressing out . I started looking to see if I could find meditation music on amazon and this little music box popped up . I started reading the reviews and they were positive so I thought I would give it a try. I am soooo glad I did . I tried it at home before I went on our trip and he curled up in his crate and slept. When it was time to board the plane. I put him in his crate, along with his little music box, turned on low and he said it right now.. He was asleep within 5 minutes of flying and stayed asleep the entire flight . The music played the entire time . So the charge last a long time . I think it said in the instructions 8 hours. The trip back home went equally as well . So yes it is kind of pricey but to us it was worth every penny. We had a relaxing flight as well as our dog . I now use it when I take him in the car on long drives and it works like a charm. I am now not concerned about taking flights with my dog as long as I have his music box …:)

I’ve had an iTunes sound speaker for my pup since she arrived several years ago. It worked great. Then it stopped playing so I ordered another device that’s iTunes but totally different, which is fine. It took a long time to receive this. When I finally got it, it didn’t work- only sound was awful stressful static noice and weird voices in background, weird. When I wanted to return this I had to repackage and and pay for all shipping costs! I totally don’t recommend this product!!! Not fair to you or loving pets

I had another brand, and after quite awhile it broke. I didn't think I needed to get another one as I have a Google Mini in the living room now, but for some reason even on paid Spotify, I would come home most days and it had stopped itself. I finally got sick of that, and decided to buy another music box. I gave this one a shot. It is still too much money in my opinion for what it is, but I do love it and hopefully the dogs do too! I can't speak to the battery life, as I keep it plugged in. There is only one song that is annoying haha but I don't think the dogs mind. I haven't tried adding any more songs, no need. Again, I don't think the dogs care. lol I just turn it on when I am leaving and turn off when I get back. I have been using it evey week day for 9+ hours for 5 months, and it's still working great. Makes me feel better knowing they have calming music and it also helps drown out outside noise.

UPDATE: I forgot I purchased this, and my little Shih Tzus have been over the top hyper lately even though I give them attention, love, and exercise all day. I recently came across it in the house, turned it on as I needed to sit at the laptop and pay bills (when my babies normally rip me apart scratching me), and .... they are sleeping sweetly right now thanks to this. I am still dumbfounded over how it works as it does. I gave the extra star after the composer was so gracious to explain it all to me. I had to return the first one the next day as it seemed stuck and was extremely annoying; yet, Amazon made the exchange very easy. The second one is working well night 3. I'm not going to have it on during the day. So ... the product does what it is supposed to do; however, this review as my reaction is a bit convoluted due to concerns. Does it calm my 9 month old Shih Tzu puppies? Yes, it does 100% as it says it does. I would have never believed it had I not seen it first hand. It calms them to the point they will be on hind legs mid very rough play fighting, and when I turn the speaker on, they stop and drop. They do stop immediately, look a bit confused, and immediately lay down. So again, yes, it calms them. My concern was how and is it safe, and the creator explained it to me which surprised and impressed me that she did. So ... yes, I can not believe how well this works as the skeptic I am who researches everything. I want my puppies to be lively and active, but to not scratch me until I bleed nightly like little hamsters on a wheel ... and not to play fight with each other to the point they are showing teeth, growling, and pulling out hair, so this is fabulous!

Used for the first time today and came home to ripped quilt wadding everywhere.

Didn't have an effect on my dogs. Nice music though.
