FUNCTIONALITY: I got this cage for a baby sun conure I bought from a breeder. It has a lot of great access doors (3 on each side and two in front). I closed off the extra access doors on the one side using lava perches and branch perches which worked well. It is a big cage for a baby but since these birds live 25+ years, she will grow into it. APPROPRIATENESS: This is a good cage for multiple small birds like parakeets or finches or 1-2 medium birds like conures or cockatiels. Also good for smaller parrots like amazons, but you are going to want something with thicker bars for a large parrot like a macaw. ASSEMBLY: It comes with three perches which are very easy to install that go full cage width. It also has 4 double feeders where you can put food in one side and water in the other. The assembly does require some analytic skills since the parts are not marked; but, if I can get it together with the "help" of my six year old, it can be done. It only took me, despite the "help", about an hour to get it together. It recommends two people for assembly, which is probably not a bad idea since you have to interlock pieces and hold them, but I managed using long twist-ties to hold the sections together. The toughest part is getting the top on because you have to have six hands (or twist ties) to hold it together, the rest is fairly simple. *************************** Update one month after moving my baby bird in: She loves this cage. I have plenty of room to hang toys and have added some additional concrete perches and some of those cloth-and-wire perches. I ended up removing the long perches that come with the cage. My bird refused to use them because they were too slippery for her little feet. I also installed one of the Prevue sun decks toward the top inside the cage for my baby to have a place to rest. I hang her kabobs of fruit and vegetables and pasta bits over that shelf with a small crock underneath to catch pieces. She seems to like the arrangement since she was getting frustrated about losing pieces between the floor bars. I was using one of the plastic dual feeders that comes with the cage but my bird didn't like them at all, probably because they were so small. She kept getting water in the food and it would get all stuck together. I picked up some locking feeder crocks and those have worked out very well. I also ended up picking up some nickle-plated grab clips at Lowe's to secure the front two doors since my little girl was trying to figure out how to get those open. I highly recommend doing that if you are putting anything larger than a parakeet in this cage. Make sure you use nickle-plated clips since most other metals are poisonous to birds. I would also say this cage should not be used for anything bigger than the size of a cockatiel or ringneck so the bird can have enough room to jump from perch to perch and get exercise. You could house two without trouble if they are appropriately bonded with each other. An Amazon or cockatoo would be able to bend the bars and you would have trouble getting one in and out of the front doors. It is definitely not appropriate for a macaw. My bird is in her cage on average about 5 hours a day and has been very happy with it. Overall, I have been very happy with Prevue brand products.

This review is long overdue. I purchased this cage in May of 2012. It has been home to my Blue & Gold ever since then. I am now taking this cage apart for the move to our new home. As for the cage, here is the good, the bad, and the ugly: The Good: This cage is huge and gives my Blue & Gold ample room for a swing, a food perch, and two other cross perches. The food bowls are a perfect size, not too big nor not too small. With the casters, it rolls freely even on a carpeted floor. The seed guards catch "most" of the waste seeds. After 3 and a half years, the cage came apart as if it were put together yesterday. It is well made and the finish has held up to the day to day abuse of a large hook billed bird without chipping or coming off. The door latch works well, and the hinged doors for the feed cups are well planned and most useful. The slide out lower grate makes for easy cleaning and the catch pan fits snugly in place as designed. The Bad: The rotating lock at the top of the door is useless and in the way. The screw hole was over sized and the provided screw kept falling off and was eventually thrown away inadvertently when cleaning out the catch pan. The seed guards were severely bent and almost unusable upon arrival. The lack of clear instructions for the assembly and installation of the seed guards was very disappointing. It took several attempts and more than a few descriptive words to finally figure it all out. The catch pan is a royal PITA to clean as it has no support mechanism when removing it. Keeping it properly aligned while sliding it in or out is impossible for one person. It takes 2 people just to remove and replace the pan at every cleaning interval. Extremely poor design when compared to other aspects of this cage and especially so considering the high cost of it. The Ugly: The packaging for this cage was practically humorous. No protection against damage from tow motors, hand trucks, or even human handling. Packaged in 2 separate boxes, both of which were far too heavy for the way the boxes were constructed. Considering the weight of the boxes, handling damage is inevitable, and unavoidable. Now for the worst complaint of all............shipped in 2 separate boxes as I already mentioned..........but NOT shipped together. They don't even come at the same time. One box was lost, could not be found even through tracking and scanning. As a Prime member, I was to receive the item in 2 days.......GUARANTEED. By the time I received the replacement cage, after being forced to wait for several days to see if the other box would mysteriously appear, I was nearly 10 days in and thankfully had not disposed of my previous hand built cage. Given the relatively high price for this item, I found the shipping of this item to be completely unacceptable. I am still seething over that experience. I certainly expected more from Amazon that that. And although it may or may not have been directly their fault, they are ultimately responsible as the seller of the item. I was truly disappointed with this purchase. As for the item itself, I give it 5 stars as the overall looks and functionality, along with the durability of the item, far exceed the few shortfalls that I described. The shipping and handling are not a reflection of the item as much as they are a reflection of the entities selling and delivering it. I would recommend this item highly to anyone needing a cage for a large bird, but I would also recommend buying it from a more reputable source such as your local pet store, and eliminating the harrowing experiences with shipping, handling, and the damages created by them.

5 stars for loving the cage design after assembling and 5 budgies love it also. Flexibility of door sizes and location, see excellent, I use brown craft paper, 55lb from bulk roll ordered from amazon, most economical so I can change paper daily, like the pull our tray easy to clean w disinfectant wipes and it slides back in under the wired bottom so birds can't touch it anyway. The craft paper is on top of the bottom wired shelf so they can run around easily without tearing or sagging, their feet aren't on the grill bottom this way, nice and smooth. The water & food trays are ample however could only easily hook them on the right side, prongs slid in and our easily. Other sides prongs were slightly off width, son forced 1 first one and broke the prongs. So just try hooking trays on first with nothing in them to assure which location fits easily. Otherwise you'll spill water and food forcing them. It was easier to locate perches swings toys after location for trays fit. ASSEMBLY - 4 stars as some reviewers mentioned directions weren't the easiest and there's an assembly video on amazon below the product picture, which I hadn't watched. Am 60+ yr grandma who does assembly, repairs around home alone so suggestion if you don't have a second set of hands to help. I always do inventory of parts 1st, assuring have none missing or broken before assembling, much less frustrating. I organize them in order of directions with a pencil to check off each instruction AFTER completing, so much easier to resume if interrupted. A picture is worth a thousand words and time saved, find the picture put in front of you, often don't nred directions that way. Mostly, make sure you have zip ties/cable ties from hardware store, these are my extra hands to keep everything from falling apart or moving, but leave a little slack to easily cut them off as needed. rather than assemble bottom with wheels and working your way up from there, I found much easier to lay down bottom on its side, swivel the wheels so it's flat. I then assemble the cage flat on floor and against a plumb wall or cabinet side so already 2 sides don't move, use zip ties.as you go, the prongs from cage sides don't slide out of place that way. After bottom and top ate assembled, I slide top to bottom and assemble,flat on floor then just lift straight up. Didn't have time to edit long post and if it saves some frustration and time for any of you that's the intention. Because some reviews are quite negative, this cage is perfect for smaller birds, width of bars, strengrh, design, spaciousness. If anyone who has larger stronger heavier birds then it's obvious you need to choose a stronger bar design. I suspect some customers choose this one for smaller birds because of very big savings thinking it's spacious enough when in fact they have,to pay more the the stronger bars period. Therefore it's not fair or reasonable to the manufacturer to give a lower rating if their bigger birds are destroying it. I couldn't afford more and I think.it's an outstanding but, my 30 & 35 yr sons do also. If assembled with a bit of slack with screws then tighten them a bit going around evenly you'll find that it's sturdy doesn't wabble. Have some heavier toys? rather than hang on individual wire, I slip a dowel of 3,6,9 inches inside the loop, string, hook whatever and lay the dowels across the wires on top of cage so weight is distrib uted over several wire rods instead of hanging off 1 and risk sagging, in general. If you can't find dowel sizes you need then popsicle sticks might serve same person. LOVE THIS CAGE WELL WORTH EVERY PENNEY NO REGRETS WOULD BUY IT AGAIN AND RECOMMEND. I SAVED A LOT OF $. Suggestion: If you just don't have the patience to assemble ask a customer helper in a pet store if they could do for you, but I don't suggest being cheap w $ either. It does take time but you still save a lot of money paying someone to do for you. If you are 2 persons who work well together ? 45 min if you're alone, count on 1-1.5 hrs. Your feathered friends will love the space and safety from harm.

So far, so good! We've only had the cage for a few days, but our finches love it. Assembly wasn't too bad for 2 of us - had it only been 1 person, it would be a much different story. We put it together in about 30 minutes, but by yourself, I could see it taking 2 hours! There was 1 broken weld on the back panel, but we zip tied that. The small doors leave a lot to be desired and they're the reason for the 4 star review. Our no-mess feeder would not work with the side doors, so now that is on the inside. Other than the size of the doors, they do create great access points. The perches that come with the cage are not great either. They're a little long and hard to place - plus, they're way too big around for little birds (the kind of bird this cage is designed for).We did leave them in the cage, but added our own perches too. This gives them a good variety for perch size and is better for their feet. Bar spacing is good too. I was trying to find 3/8" spacing, but the 1/2" spacing still keeps the cat paws out and the birds in. As of now, we have been rolling this from the livingroom to a secure place for the birds overnight, until we are comfortable with the cats and the cage. We have had no problems rolling the cage and it has not tried to fall apart as other reviewers have mentioned. Just be sure to tighten the screws. Overall, we are pleased with this cage and would buy it again. UPDATE: We also bought a covered bird bath .It would not fit the doors correctly, but there is so much room on the bottom that we were able to set the bird bath there. The birds love it. Also, all of the little doors are amazing for being able to reach different parts of the cage without disturbing the birds too much. We were also able to put a few nice natural branches in the cage. The birds love them and use them more than the dowel perches.

This cage changed my birds’ lives — and mine. It is, hands down, the best cage I’ve ever owned. If you’re lucky enough to still find one in stock somewhere, grab it. I’m heartbroken that it’s been discontinued and hope this review helps others speak up to bring it back. First of all, this cage is absolutely beautiful. The white finish blends perfectly into my minimalist space with white walls and light wood — no clunky black bars, no industrial vibe. It’s light, airy, and so elegant. I’ve decorated mine with little fairy lights and vines, and it looks like something out of a woodland dream or a gentle fairytale. But what matters most? My birds are obsessed. I’ve had lots of cages and playstands, but nothing compares to how much they love this one. They actually choose to go back to it — after 20 minutes of hanging out with me elsewhere, they’re ready to return to their magical room. I’ve ended up spending most of my time in there just to be near them! That’s how content they are in this space. People often say birds need flat-topped cages, but I’ve found that’s not necessarily true. My flock has always preferred dome or geodesic shapes — they gravitate toward cozy, rounded structures, and this flight cage is their paradise. It’s not just big — it’s beautifully designed, with thoughtful touches that make it feel more like a conservatory than a cage. It gives them real room to fly, play, and live. And for us parrot parents who sometimes have to step away during the day? This cage gives me peace of mind. I know they’re not just safe — they’re happy. They preen, they chitchat, they explore. It’s truly like a palace for them, and I honestly feel bad for ever housing them in anything less. Not all cages are perfect, and I did vet wrap one or two loops. But I have other cages where I had to vet wrap all the loops (closures that might have the tiniest of gaps for toenails to get stuck in— yet I’m extra paranoid) , and Prevue by far has the best quality of any the cages I’ve bought on here. Sturdiness, good construction, and it’s a nice chalky white, not grey like many cages are. If you’re thinking about it, or can find it— don’t hesitate. And if you already have one — please join me in reaching out to the company to bring it back. There is no other cage like this on the market: aesthetic, functional, beloved by birds, and truly life-changing. I’ll be dreaming of the day I can buy a second (or third) one — for now, I’ll just keep telling everyone how magical it is.

I didn’t think I would like this based on the reviews but I got it anyway. It actually ended up being a bit big and overwhelming for my parrotlet at first but I will probably upgrade eventually because he doesn’t really spread his wings enough in it or fly in it. But it didn’t come damaged and it was easy to assemble and it’s easy to move around. I don’t use the skirt and it’s just fine. Overall a good pick at a good price point for a small bird.

This cage is awesome! I have 3 parakeets and they are enjoying the massive flying room. At first they were sitting on the top perch looking up and down the cage. They seemed unsure at first. But now they are happily fluttering around the cage. I read so many negative reviews anywhere from bent wires, to missing holes, to difficulty putting together, to the feeder cups not fitting, I was almost afraid to get it. I very glad I bought it anyway. The cage was relatively easy to put together with the help of my daughter. We did have a couple issues, but it was operator error. I started assembling by myself but ending up calling for help. The written instructions helped offset the pictures. The pictures were not very clear, but with the written instructions they were adequate. There were no missing holes, you just have to make sure you have the panels the correct way and in the right spot. The front panels look identical but the top panel has holes on the bottom for the bottom panel wires to fit into....ooops. And the side panels have to be on the correct side for the holes to be in the right place. Some of the wires were bent a little, but the same thing happened with my much smaller cage I bought at the store. They were easily maneuvered back into place. No doubt a shipping thing. I read that the spring loaded doors where hard to open and dangerous for the birds. Mine opened just fine. I could see the potential for the danger to the birds, but I still want to be able to use them to get the food dishes in and out. Many people zip tied them shut. I just twist ties so I could easily untie and retie them shut. When you are assembling it, it does appear a bit flimsy. However, once you have the cage completely assembled it is very study. The wheels roll very smoothly. We love the cage! So glad I bought it. And the price with free shipping was nice.

I recently ordered 2 of these cages for my cockatoos. They arrive in two very large boxes for each cage. HINT: Be careful not to destroy the original box. Take note of how to repack the pieces, just in case you decide to send back!!... One of the 4 boxes was significantly damaged. Fed-X made note of the damage...I am a single women, 66 yrs. old. I would have had difficulty moving any one of these boxes on my own. I was able to unpackage each box on my porch and move the pieces inside one by one... I have to say that the cages seemed very well packaged and the pieces are tied together with zip ties. The cardboard is of poor quality though!... So there was no damage in shipment,that I could tell. However there were some bent areas that obviously occured b/4 shipment. Although you can straighten most pieces with pliers, I was not able to straighten the bent bars. Only one bent bar on each cage and really not a problem...I called Amazon about the damaged second cage, 1-866-216-1072. So damaged that there was no way to put it together... They were wonderful!! They immediately sent out a replacement cage and a call tag for UPS to pick up the second cage with no additional charge. I received the replacement 3 days later! And that cage was in great shape. It took me several days to get the return cage ready for UPS pick up and they were great about waiting for me. (Make sure you have a big roll of packaging tape!!) Assembly was really easy!! The instructions say to use 2 people. But it can be easily done alone using long heavy duty twist ties, and lots of pillows to hold up the opposite end. Unfortunately, the casters go on early so I had to brace it against the wall in the beginning. Really difficult to put on later without possible damage to the cage or additional help. Do measure your space!! This cage is HUGE. Very well worth the price and efforts involved.

As soon as my budgies realized that this cage was theirs, it was like I told a pair of kids they were going to Disneyland. Now I don't have to feel bad on days that I can't let them out because they have so much room to move, and the price is amazing. I found it easy to build by myself, but those who are not as confident in their mechanical ability might benefit from another person's assistance. The pieces are light and the screws are easy to turn. It is not the sturdiest flight cage available, but certainly more than expected for a cage this size at a price this low. I am confident that it will not break under everyday circumstances, especially with budgies. A large bird might wreak some havoc on it, but the bars are too thin and close together for a large bird to use it anyway. I would recommend this cage to anyone with small- to medium-sized birds. Very easy to clean, and even easier if you can trust your birds not to chew up the paper if you remove the grate.
