Works well on a 2007 Trailblazer
After 80K miles on my 2007 trailblazer, my AC/Heater blower stopped blowing and the ABS brake light came on at the same time. I searched the internet and found that my ignition switch failed. This unit was priced much better than any of the auto dealers in town (and its an ACDelco instead of a store brand), so I ordered this unit. Please Note: There are several videos on the internet that show you how to install an ignition switch on a GM truck from this period. Make sure you make note of the position of the ignition dial on the unit you are replacing, because you will have to dial this one to the same position (again, this is noted in videos). Also, this is indeed the newer revision GM ignition switch (indicated by the grey cap). However, the one I replaced had a grey cap as well (and had the same failure as the previous 'black cap' versions), so I guess this is just one of those parts that will have to be replaced from time-to-time.

Affects shift inhibited light
After chasing a shift inhibited light on my 03 Duramax with 5 speed Allison, I read where the switch might be an issue. The dealer spent nearly 5 hours diagnosing the problem and discovered a 2 volt drop in voltage to the transmission solenoid when put in reverse. Apparently a voltage drop is a symptom of a bad switch amongst other things. Having already replaced the neutral safety switch, (leading cause of the issue) we replaced this. Instant gratification. The truck has cycled over 200 times now and not another light. The pigtails for the switch are also a culprit and are over $200 just for them. Yikes!Installation is pretty simple even though there are no instructions in the box. Pull the bezel off around the dash (pops right off), pull the tilt lever out (pulls straight out) and remove the plastic cover over the switch and turn signals. (also pops off). This switch is directly below the ignition key. There are two retaining tabs , one on each side, push them in with small screw driver or pick and the switch pulls out. Unplug the wiring connecter, plug in new switch (do this before installing as it doesn't have enough room to plug in after installation) and reinstall. The switch has a gear on the top of it. That gear needs to be in the correct location for reassembly or the switch will not work in conjunction with the key (will not engage start for example, or will not shut off). First time through it took 20 minutes to change. I could do it again in 10. Dealer owed me a favor and there was no charge for the diagnosis but did say it would have been 3 hour charge.

So far so good
2003 TahoeOccasionally the VATS and battery fault lights would light up, while driving, for a few seconds and go off. I read somewhere that the ignition switch was the best place to start.Install was a breeze, but I’ve been working on cars and stuff all my life. Looked felt and seems to work just like the original part. So far the lights haven’t popped back on. (There were no other symptoms). So far so good.

Correct ignition switch for many GM trucks
Oem, fits, works.if you have an issue with your Allison not going into reverse, intermittently and flashing a message on your DIS, try this first, before you chase your tail.

Go with OEM stuff.
ALWAYS go with OEM switches and sensors. They will send the most accurate data to your ECM (Vehicles Computer).

This switch controls more than you know
If you own a Chevy Trailblazer or GMC Envoy you need this switch if the original one in your teuck has never been changed. When this switch fails while driving the truck will stop after a few audible chimes. In addition, the gear shift lever will become stuck in the drive position and you will not be able to get it into neutral and the key will be stuck in the ignition. If the event none of this happens to you as it did to me about 150 miles from home your HVAC motor might stop and the ABS light comes on. Do yourself a favor, buy this thing, than watch the video on you tube on how to change the little rascal. The video is there just type in Trailblazer ignition switch. Actually, it is an ignition relay but type in switch. Oh, be sure to watch the ENTIRE video as you will have to set the teeth on the new one to the one your taking out but don't worry it is not hard.
