Over 35 years since their formation, Yazoo - Vince Clarke and Alison Moyet - are still acclaimed as one of the UK’s greatest pop duos. During their short time together they made two classic albums Upstairs At Eric's and You And Me Both, released seminal hit singles ‘Only You’, ‘Don't Go’, ‘Situation’ and ‘Nobody's Diary’ and toured before disbanding in 1983. Their legacy was a sentiment and a sonic style which sent shock waves through the early-80s charts and continues to be heard in the latest pop hits and throughout contemporary electronica. “Three Pieces - A Yazoo Compendium” features three remastered CDs in a hardback mediabook format with a 32 page booklet containing lyrics and photos. Featuring: UPSTAIRS AT ERIC’S - The classic debut album including ‘Only You’, ‘Don’t Go’, ‘Goodbye 70’s’ and ‘Winter Kills’. YOU AND ME BOTH - The no. 1 UK album, the band’s second and final record, featuring ‘Nobody’s Diary’, ‘Ode To Boy’, ‘Mr. Blue’ and ‘Walk Away From Love’. EIGHT REMIXES - Classic, extended and rare remixes by Richard X, Todd Terry and Youth plus the 2017 Orchestral mix of ‘Only You’ and a brand new remix of ‘Winter Kills’. TWO BBC SESSIONS (including 6 previously unreleased tracks) - The early ‘80s John Peel and David Jensen BBC Radio One sessions exclusively remastered and available in their entirety for the first time. Includes ‘Don’t Go’, ‘Situation’, ‘Too Pieces’ and ‘Winter Kills’.

Yazoo Rediscovered
Brought these two CD's back in the 80's when CD's first appeared, lost many years ago.So wonderful to find them both in a boxset with a 3rd bonus CD full of mixes and radio recordings. All in a beautiful digipack with loads of photos and the lyrics to all the tracks. These sound excellent after all being remastered, the albums still bring back many memories of growing up in the early 80's....Get this set and relive your youth again....

Very good career 'compendium' of Yazoo's output.
Early '80's synth pop duo; is a neat and understated description of what Yazoo were really all about. This long awaited and much welcome re-release package of Yazoo's two albums and a third disc of extras; extended & alternative versions,BBC radio one sessions etc - is an excellent package and overview of this short lived, but influential pop duo.It sees me re- acquainted with debut lp: Upstairs at Eric's,after a very long time, and hearing second and final lp: You and me both for the very first time.Vince Clarke and Alison Moyet; where a bizarre but affective duo.A variety of 'synth pop',melancholic and moody ballads and avant garde tracks, are evident on 'Eric's.ie: Don't go,only you (both UK hit singles),winter kills and 'I before e,except after c'.on the latter; they sound innovative, but far too pop Art and leftfield for my liking.(taking notes from Revolution 9 from The Beatles white album, perhaps!) - but showing they weren't afraid to take risks.Have to mention the upbeat: Bad connection.what's now become a charming theme due to the passage of time.not being able to communicate on the telephone line.long before mobile and internet technology took hold - pure nostalgia. The album closes with the upbeat and infectious: didn't I bring your love down (didnt i) - leaving the listener satisfied and wanting more.Onto disc 2: You and me both; starts with excellent hit single: Nobody's diary. Not as immediate as upstairs at Eric's,but some standout moments; the anti-war themed - Unmarked, and humorous and quirky: Happy people.again a good blend of various music genres on this album.Disc 3: is crammed with extras.extended version of Nobody's diary and orchestral version of Only you are notable highlights. The mainly previously unreleased radio one sessions are excellent performances and give a different take to the original studio versions.Yazoo turned out to be an excellent springboard,to launch the rather successful pop and later jazz orientated career of Alison Moyet, and the continuing success of Vince Clarke's wonderful music career.he was to form another pop duo: Erasure, with Andy Bell you know (sic).Three pieces is presented In a hard back book format.including photos, lyrics and original tour programme notes no less.Overall - An excellent re-release highlighting the output of Yazoo's short lived reign in the spotlight (1982-83).N.B. some fellow reviewers' concerns re: Situation and State farm not appearing on 1st and second albums - respectively; have got it all so very wrong - they never did appear on the original albums (UK releases at least).which is what we're all listening to folks - aren't we!
