Should open my own Barbershop now
-----Bought in Sept 2016 still going strong----- It is June 2023 and I still love these clippers, I use them every month or so to keep things fresh between actual visits to barbershop every 4 or so months. They are still going strong and haven't failed me once. Never pulled hair, never choaked up still a beast. This is the longevity you can expect from a well made product. I stand by my original review below 100%. If you cut your own hair treat yourself and buy good clippers. It is a multi year investment that will pay off. Great Clippers for Home Users I bought these to replace an old set of Wahl (Wahl 9639) clippers that I have had for a very long time now for about 5 years. I picked them up from a Walmart because I got tired of being overcharged for a simple haircut when I could do it myself. I do my hair myself or if I am lucky my wife will do my hair for me. The set I bought a long time ago came with a plethora of guards as well as the left ear right ear guards. So I read a few reviews and heard these were lacking some of these guards, but operated on the assumption that the ones I have would fit on this set of clippers. I was right. I did a bunch of research on different clipper motors and honestly couldn’t even find what motor my old clippers used. This one came the all powerful V9000 motor which is basically the most powerful motor any home user would ever have use for. I wanted two things on my new set of clippers Power and Price, powerful yet would not break the bank and these clippers met those criteria for me. Pros -Fit my old WAHL guards, which was important because it seemed to be missing a few choice guards. -Powerful, I am seriously impressed with this set of clippers. Flipping the side switch on them immediately makes me want to start shaving neighborhood dogs. Hair doesn’t stand a chance against these clippers. Be prepared for the rush when you first turn them on. -Included guards are pretty high quality, I noticed a really good increase in the quality of the included guards from my old ones. (See attached Pictures) -The unit feels indestructible, they are heavy for clippers which I mainly noticed because my old ones are plastic instead of the metal these clippers are. So I noticed a HUGE increase in quality. -The included cord is neither short nor long, so depending on how/where you use these clippers you may have to plug in an extension cable. -Mine were obviously new never used and came undamaged. Just thought I would make this point being that some reviewers have made points that theirs were damaged on arrival and such. Cons -Included 8 guards, but was missing guards as well. Most notably the right and left ear taper guards. But quizzically it is also missing a few standard guards as well. (See attached Picture) It HAS the NO.½ (1/16”), NO.1 (1/8”), NO.1 ½ (3/16”), NO.2 (1/4”), NO.3 (3/8”), N0.4 (1/2”), NO.6 (3/4”) and the NO.8 (1”) along with the orange blade guard. MISSING are the NO.5 (5/8”) and NO.7 (7/8”) along with both the Left and Right ear Tapers. -Furthermore WHO is going to use the NO. ½ or NO.1 ½ clippers? Instead they should’ve had the NO.5 and NO.7 guides. I can’t think of a wide spread use for the 1/16” or 3/16” guides. But I CAN think of a use for a 5/8” and a 7/8” guide which are NOT included. Just seems odd to me is all. -The packaging is kinda horrendous for a clipper of this price. No included zip pouch which my cheaper clipper had when I bought it from WalMart all those years ago. This clipper basically came in a plastic clamshell and cardboard box. I was kinda expecting more but at the same time didn’t care. Just something to note. Conclusion In my honest opinion not having a nice case or missing a few guides should not prevent you from buying these clippers. I WOULD expect them to include these missing items, but I still love them. I guess one reason this isn’t a deal breaker is I have the missing guards from my previous Wahl trimmer and they fit this one. So if you are really needing the left and right ear taper or the NO.5 and NO.7 guides you may have to buy them separately if you don’t have them from a previous trimmer. There are a few items this set of clippers could’ve included and really beefed up the reviews on the product itself. The ear tapers could’ve been included as well as the missing NO.5 and NO.7 guides. I mean honestly less expensive all including clippers (Like my WAHL 9635 that Amazon still sells) include these items and cost half of what this set does. I guess the real question is do you actually NEED those missing guides/combs? My personal answer is yes on the tapers because I like the look they give me; but no on the missing 5 and 7 guides. They also could’ve included a nice zipper pouch like the one I included that I got when I purchased my Wahl 9635 clippers 4 -5 years ago. However it looks like they have discontinued including any kind of hard or soft case on any clippers they offer on Amazon. So if you want a good case you are gonna have to buy one, which kinda bites. These trimmers are a HUGE step up if you were just walking down the aisle at a WalMart one day and decided you would buy a trimmer to do your hair. I can honestly say I expected these things to cost 80$ easily, but was surprised when they were actually a really reasonable price. Especially since they are much more powerful and such a better build quality than my older set of trimmers. I expect many many years of consistent haircuts with these trimmers given how long my old Wahl lasted. My Wahl 9635 was good to me but it is time to retire it, but it will live on through the Left and Right ear tapers and the NO.5 and NO.7 guides I am carrying over.

Wahl 5 Star Magic Clip
I am a long-time practitioner of cutting my own hair at home with clippers. I have been doing it for about 25 years since high school. Not only does it save money, it's also kind of relaxing and there's a certain satisfaction in DIYing it. This is not to take away from folks who do this for a living; these people are skillful enough to take a new client (who isn't themself) and give them a flattering haircut on the first attempt. My self-haircut has evolved to a fade that transitions up to something a little longer on top. Usually I go for a #1 on the back and sides and a #6 on top, but sometimes I'll vary it. I use a hand mirror in conjunction with the bathroom mirror to be able to see the back while I'm working. The Magic Clips were an upgrade from wired Wahl USA Color Pro Clippers. The Color Pros still work and I still keep them around as a backup. They do a decent job and have been reliable, but the Magic Clips definitely feel a bit more professional. The build quality feels higher overall. The cable is thicker. The motor is noticeably more powerful and the blade also seems more effective. I am a white guy with finer hair - with very cheap clippers I used in the past, the blade would kind of just pass over hair without cutting so that a lot of passes were needed. The Color Pros were a huge improvement, and the Magic Clips are even better. I adjusted the Color Pros by zero-gapping the blades and applying loc-tite to the lever screw so that the lever wouldn't slide out of place too easily; these adjustments were not needed for the Magic Clips, if I recall correctly. Reviewers have mentioned that the staggered teeth of the Magic Clips assist with fades. They also mention that the Wahl Legends can get better results but require more skill. This is what helped me to settle on the Magic Clips over the Legends. Professional barbers tend to use a flick-out technique to fade, but I find this impossible to do on myself so I use a much simpler technique. I think the staggered tooth blade helps to still get a good result with this. The Magic Clips came with most of the guides I used with the Color Pros, except excludes some of the odd numbered ones like #7. They also came with a few extras like clipper oil and a little brush to clean hair out of the blades. They didn't come with a carrying case, so I purchased a dopp bag (ASIN: B09WCTHMBF, medium) to serve this function. If you regularly cut hair at home and have been frustrated by performance of your clippers, it might be worth treating yourself and stepping up to the Magic Clips.

Best Clippers I've Ever Owned!
I have been cutting my own hair for the last 16 years and have always used the "walmart special" Wahl clippers for all of my haircuts. Now, don't get me wrong, they got the job done but it was always a chore to go over certain spots on the hair to ensure that it was completely cutting it all correctly. It also felt like you had to apply more pressure/effort to get the blades to cut, almost like it was pulling the hair a bit. After 3-5 years they would always get super dull blades, rust out (even with adding blade oil), and the motors would crap out. I can honestly say that these Magic Clip clippers are the best that I have ever owned. They glide through hair and cut through it like butter. The motor is insanely fast and these just "feel" like a professional grade product. They're also fairly lightweight and easy to hold. The only downside that I have for this product is that it did get pretty hot to the touch while cutting my hair. I wasn't even spending that long on my first haircut with these, it was maybe running intermittently for an hour or so? That's really the only downside here. I don't think it being hot will affect the longevity of the product in any way, but I think it should be noted. Overall, the value that you get with these clippers makes this a 5/5 review for sure. Some of the other "professional grade" clippers you see on here are $2-$300 a pop. This is a made in America product for about $60 that will probably outlast you on this earth. The last thing I'll say is that if you get these clippers you need to take care of them and give them maintenance like any other machine in your life (air conditioner, furnace, car, lawn mower, etc). You need to clean them and oil them regularly to keep them in top working shape. As long as you know that going in, you'll be golden.

No Complaints
Caveat: I've only used these clippers once, so keep that in mind with my review. I've had my haircut at home off/on for many years and have used a variety of clippers. I have medium thick, caucasian hair and only a few brands/models would pull it. The cheaper Wahls tended to do that so I decided that I would need to upgrade to a more professional model. After doing some significant research and balancing performance, accessories and price, the 5 star series Magic Clippers seemed to be the best deal overall. They have Wahl's V9000 motor, near 0 guard and were under $40. I certainly wasn't opposed to spending more, but this one seemed to have all the features I was looking for at nearly half the price of some of the other models. That made me a little hesitant to try them, but I went for it anyway. Objectively, they seemed just like the others. They came in, checked the blade alignment, oiled them and went to it. They did a great job, didn't pull once, never heated up more than just warm and they were on a long time. This was the first time my wife cut my hair, so we took it slow. Very slow. And they did well. I bought another set of guards that included the around-the-ear combs as well as #10 and #12 combs directly from Wahl. They were cheaper than anywhere else I could find and offered free shipping. The cord length was appropriate, the noise was not quiet, but certainly not loud and overall they performed as expected. The clippers came in a compact plastic case (nothing fancy) with about 8 combs (no ear guards), a small vial of lubricating oil and some instructions. Seemed pretty standard fare, definitely geared to those who keep a very short haircut, or do a lot of fading. As mentioned before, I've only used the clippers once, but if my experience changes, I'll be sure to update.

Perfect starter clipper great gift for my nephew!
I bought the Wahl 5 Star Series Magic Clip Precision Fade as a gift for my nephew, who is just starting in the world of barbering, and he absolutely loves it! The clipper is powerful, precise, and easy to handle, making it perfect for learning fades and detailed cuts. ✅ What I liked: • Lightweight and comfortable for extended use. • Cuts smoothly and consistently, even through thick hair. • Comes with all the essential guards and accessories for practice. ⚠️ What could improve: • Corded design limits mobility slightly, but the power is worth it. • Might be a bit noisy for very sensitive clients, but normal for professional clippers. Overall: A fantastic gift for anyone starting in barbering. My nephew is gaining confidence quickly thanks to this clipper, and it’s a tool that will last for years.

Easy to use!
I was somewhat apprehensive about both the product quality as well as whether I can really give myself a reasonable haircut using these. I am quite impressed by the build quality. It feels solid and heavy in my hands -- just the right amount of heft to feel like a quality product without making it awkward to handle. The bigger win -- it is surprisingly easy to use to give myself a decent haircut. Wonder why I didn't start using this earlier ... - Clipper: feels very well built. Easy to hold and use. The motor feels more than adequate for the job -- at least for my hair, or lack thereof. - Power cord length: Adequate. It's a heavy duty one too! - Guards: The selection is adequate for my needs. Build quality feels cheap and flimsy. - Carrying case: There should have been one. But I would rather compromise on the carrying case rather than on the clipper.

Great Professional Grade Clipper
I have been cutting hair for over 20 years, and over the last 10 seriously. Although I am not a licensed barber, as my career path lead me elsewhere, I enjoy cutting the hair of my family and friends. As my skills improved I began moving onto professional grade equipment. I move away from the entry level equipment, found at general stores, around a decade ago. My first foray into the "pro" clipper was an Andis Speedmaster. I was in the market for an upgrade, and the online reviews highlighted the Andis Master as the best clipper available. However, I could not validate spending $100 plus on a clipper; especially as I do not cut hear for a profession. If the clipper was vital to increasing my revenue as a barber I would have looked into it. As I am sure it is a great clipper. That being said, back to the review of the Wahl Magic Clipper. Personally, I believe that it would be nearly impossible to match quality and performance of this clipper at the price point. It is hands down the best clipper I have ever used. It is a phenomenal and powerful machine, priced under $50. I would not classify this product as an entry level clipper, as the V9000 and the "STD" fade blade, are not for novice barbers. This machine is intended to cut hair with precision. In the hands of a novice, it may be too much to handle, because it does just that. In my opinion, this precision is exactly what separates it from other clippers. If purchased with the intention to do fade and taper cuts, it will be hard to obtain a better product at the price point. The only word that comes to mind when describing how this machine creates fades and tapers is--blurry. As the fades and tapers transition very smoothly with little effort. I purchased this clipper over the Wahl 5 Star Senior for two reasons: 1) The price 2) The shape The clipper is identical to the Wahl 5 Star Senior with a different case. I prefer this case due to being left handed (and the Wahl 5 Star Senior has and ergonomic indention for a right handed persons thumb); and it simply looks better. The price point was also slightly cheaper. In my honest opinion, a fairly skilled barber can't go wrong with this clipper. My advice would be to purchase it, and then take your time handling the slight learning curve, and enjoy the results.
